I haven't been able to notice any boost to spell damage from matching resistance. While the testing hasn't been entirely methodological and I didn't rule out the possibility of the boost being capped at a very low value (say, anything higher than one or two bars gives no benefit), I'm fairly confident that it's not working or does not work at least with ice ball. I tried changing both the base resistance and the effective one. I suppose it's possible that the boost is VERY small, say a flat +dmg that doesn't get multiplied, which would explain why my end game character isn't noticing a difference.

This is definitely something the 2d version did better as you frequently had 70+ goblin siegers, including trolls and mounted goblins. Humans came in even larger numbers and yet in my current game they sent one pathetic squad.

It's made out of 7500+ green glass blocks

I agree the sense of progression, but it's only there for your first fort as even in the 2d version you could powergame straight to magma. You could have magma workshops running very early and in fact it was more trivial than it is now. For me, there was no motivation to start another 2d fortress after my first "perfect" one. In 3d there are many more possibilities and the starting locations can be much more interesting.

By the way, I started playing again this week after a ~20 month break and I'm once again hooked.

Backup your old save folder and rename the folder in the zip to "save".

Wow, I somehow get 30-40fps now and I used to get like 15 in the older version of Copperblazes.

edit: Veryinky says he got rid of all the stones so this proves having thousands of useless objects is what usually kills your performance

Yeah, I dont think you actually have to train dwarves to get the noble. Someone should fix the wiki.

Masterpiece food can be eaten, bolts shot and armor/weapons melted without angering the maker. They'll only get upset if it's destroyed by other means, for example by a drawbridge.

They'll only aim, albeit quite poorly, at hostile targets. It only takes about 2 seconds for a legendary operator to load a catapult so they can be quite effective against camping human siegers, but against goblins they are pretty useless right now.

You are supposed to get a metal bar(s). What did you try to melt? I suspect if you melt something that takes less than one bar to produce, you'll get nothing.

This may sound odd, but try removing his patrol route (x,x). Filling water skins does take way too long, however.

Toady has said having a lot of items is currently the main cause of slowdowns
