That is what I expect.  I just do not want to forget to post.

How did you're fort fall.  Elves? Magma? Both? I want to know how most forts die!! If you have an "Other" vote then describe it please.

Buildings should be sold and bought though, not worked in by some random guy.

Many Medieval governments were feudalistic, or had people owning land you gave them.  Kings could tax, request armies, and do much more with these provinces.  Dwarves could make a system like saying shops or land can be sold by the owner and built on off map.  Then the owners become counts or some other form of leader.  They are like dwarf forts.  Eventually the fort owners could rebel and create their own country.  The civil wars would be good right now maybe, and I don't expect the feudalistic idea for a while.  If this came up anywhere else then just delete the post.
