DF Modding / Re: Runesmith - A DC like tool

Probably eventually, it depends on the DFHack support for it and me having enough free time, I've been quite busy the last few weeks so haven't gotten to do much on Runesmith

I'm patient, and hopeful. <3

If only all of us were like that.

Aye, and Stonesense can't display a very big area at once, especially when we're talking about a lot of z-levels.

3Dwarf hadn't been updated for a while even before the release of 31.01, and I haven't heard anything about Visual Fortress in a while. There was a new visualizer being created for the new versions called Obsidian, not sure what the status of that is. And then I heard about another visualizer that can also display creatures, but that one's still a ways off.

actually, stonsense is perfectly able to take screenshots of entire fortresses, but it's a little slow

Step one: change the init.txt so that the graphic mode is Software, and the number f shown Z-levels is the height of your fort
Step two: center the view in DF to the highest level in the fort.
Step Three: run stonesense, and as soon as you can see something, press CTRL+F5. you should see a message saying that a large screenshot is being taken, and a progress meter in the title bar.
Stap 4: realize that there's no way you can upload a 200mb png file anywhere

That would be in this thread.

Edit: On page 16, no less.

That may make a computer asplode, though. Too much awesome. I still want someone to try, even though I can't.

Fine I give in, I'll do it for the next release unless Toady does a release I need to update for

You can follow your own design plan, man. I was just hoping to mark off a couple of fence posts down the road.

I usually use the mouse to place my cursor and then use Shift and the arrows to move it to designate a large area.

That's precisely what I want, but I start with anywhere between 35-40 dorfs. It'll probably be more once I can Runesmith in some kiddies.
whoa there I like the idea of age and size but runesmith babies? that kinda removes the test of getting adventurers kids when you could just make one plop out in adventure mode at any time...

that doesn't sound that bad either but it kinda removes point of the mega project I was working on.
oh well.

Basically, I Runesmith my first starting group to have the skills/atts they would have IRL. Example: My best friend is a dog trainer for Petco. Therefore, he gets at least lv 6 Animal Training and Animal Caretaking, but I usually set him higher.

What I want to do is set up my group to be my group. I'd like relationships, too (as said best friend keeps going after my wife), but afaik that hasn't been figured out yet.

That's the point.

Most people who say they hate insects also hate spiders, even though spiders are not insects and, in fact, eat them.

Y'know, I really shouldn't have to explain that.

I was being a smartass.

Spiders aren't insects. Insects are six legged. Spiders are arachnids.

Definitions of Force multiplier on the Web:

    * Force multiplication, in military usage, refers to an attribute or a combination of attributes which make a given force more effective than that same force would be without it. The expected size increase required to have the same effectiveness without that advantage is the multiplication factor.
      en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Force_multiplier

Basically, "Force Multiplier" is a fancy way of saying "any equipment given to a soldier to make them more effective." Didn't mean to cause any confusion.

If you right click with your mouse, it re-places the cursor on your mouse pointer. Just FYI.

I know what a Javelin is. :P I thought the OP was talking about a handheld force multiplier that used spears as ammo, though. That's why I brought it up.

Just so you know, the handheld spear-thrower thingies are named Atlatls. Just something I thought I'd point out.

It would be pretty easy to add if you really want it

Yes, please! The more customization, the better! The only other things that I would want after that would be likes/dislikes and physical looks. I know a lot of people don't care about that stuff, but oh, the time I would spend on it.

What would it take to edit the age and size of a dwarf? If it's something I have to find on my own, that's cool, but I'm not sure how I'd go about doing that.
