DF Modding / Re: Consequences to modding two-handed weapons. [40d]
« on: July 10, 2010, 09:57:01 pm »
It works fine, you just have to set your dwarves to use two weapons.

How does one go about doing that?

19982
It seems to be pretty much broken. No matter how much wealth you have, you'll still have some dwarves who wind up essentially penniless, not to mention the nobles setting insane prices for internal sales of goods.

In your Dwarf Fortress folder, find Data\init\d_init.txt

There, you can set Weather, Economy, Invaders, Cave ins, Artifacts, etc.

If you want it on, just change NO to YES, or vice versa to turn it off.

Schweet, thanks guys! Longswords, hoooooo!

(Also, I expected them to be two handed, so that's ok.)

Okay, I have a kind of dumb question, and I hate to derail the thread for this, but it seems like the appropriate place to ask, and I haven't found an answer elsewhere. Maybe I'm not looking in the right places, but if the answer's out there, I can count on the internets to say, "Look over there, n00b." Amongst other things.

Anyway, what I want to do is let my dorfs be able to make longswords. There's no reason that they should have to try to import them from the Humans, as they are supposed to be insanely good smiths. Also, I like swords, and desire more of them.

I didn't find the reactions for making items in the raws anywhere, and there was no info on the wiki about this. So, here I am. Rock you like a hurricane. Whaddya say, folks? Is it possible?

It's cool. No need to apologize to me, or anyone else, for that matter. This is your deal. We'll get it when you get to it. No sooner.

It works, though, and we're all happy about that.

Any luck with the gender castes yet?

Dwarf Fortress: There's an app for that.

http://www.bay12forums.com/smf/index.php?topic=59056.0 maybe add this, too?

I second this. Runesmith is seriously useful, and seriously awesome.

Welcome to the military, Mistercheif! I can use all the swordarms and Martial Artists I can get. We still need an armorer, though. Hopefully someone will hit a fey mood and make something useful, not a pig tail veil or something like that.

Barracks are in the second floor of the tower, above the trap tunnel. You'll see the staircase when you pass the trade depot.

just use Darius's friendship, its much much easier, and allows you to add in creatures as well.

that way you can even have 1 dwarf and 6 dogs without crashing.
Or you could have 13 dwarves, 45 cows, and a bull, resulting in a full out milking operation.

..oh my god I need to make a dairy.
I'd prefer you make a Let's Play! ^_^

If you're using lava/magma and getting corpses, something's not right.

It seems to be anytime before you actually get to the skill/item selection screen. I usually change it before I select an embark site, though, just to be safe. I never pick "Play now!" so I don't know about that.

I filled out paperwork for my new job today. My hometown is pushing 22% unemployment. (Okay, that last part doesn't make me happy, but I'd been part of that almost 22% for a month and a half. It's hard to take care of a kid with no money.)
