The following transcript was recovered at an archaeological dig site near the base of Vesuvius. All contents are believed to be recovered completely, with the exception of the pages obscured by vomit. The transcript has been translated using an object that related its written language to an early form of Greek. Some historians theorize that the civilization in which these events take place may have some relation to the unique eruption of the volcano in AD 79 of the Roman calendar. The following events are believed to have occured somewhere around 1600 BC.

mama died because she got infected today. papa got mad and killed Kerul's mama and then Kerul's papa killed my papa.

With the comin' of this yer's dwarven caravan from the mountins dey finally let me out a jail. Dem cell was a dungeon. I learnt somethin' through it all though. What'd I learnt? I learnt to wash yer hands affer yer kill a man, an' don't go writin' it down in no diary. Dat's what I learnt.

In memory of Thir Kindozeb, herbalist and courageous warrior.
Thir Kindozeb was slain by a goblin bolt in the evening of 3rd Slate 1410 after slaughtering a reported 53 of their kind and an additional 3 trolls with a bronze dagger and his dog Av–sh. Av–sh fled the battle after Thir fell and lingers at the gate to the fortress even now, waiting for Thir to revive. The bolt which fell Thir was of iron. It struck him in the thigh, causing him to quickly bleed to death.
Thir Kindozeb was orphaned in Malachite 1401, at the age of 10. He suffered in prison for approximately 8 years after killing his father's killer, Lanlar Thatthil‚thes, who had indeed killed only in self defense. Behind him Lanlar left a daughter and a wife. His daughter, Kerul Febnoval, a childhood friend of Thir's, was later killed by wolves in the late Winter of 1409. Lanlar's wife and Kerul's mother, Kun T”rasil, lives on and is 97 years of age.
Thir is being buried in the grand chamber, in which so far resides only Otin Korkosoth, who was our most renowned miner.
