Keep in mind, regardless of what happened here, a politician resigning because they've been conclusively found to have done something bad is good. A politician resigning because they know that, whatever they may or may not have done, nonstop media hounding will prevent them from ever being able to do their job, not to mention probably destroy their personal life, is not a good thing.

Yeah, I love bringing up the thing about how circumcision was promoted in America to prevent masturbation whenever people start telling me how important not having a foreskin is for cleanliness. I guess the ridiculousness of that latter myth has already been discussed. Fact is, you can't get a foreskin back, so people who grew up without one are more likely to rationalize why that's a good thing rather than face the fact that they had part of their dick chopped off for no good reason.

I seriously don't know where to start. I mean, it's like trying to explain love to a sociopath.

Screwing people over to achieve your own goals is bad, ultimately, because it causes suffering, but more proximately, because societies function better when everyone is able to cooperate to some degree - not in the sense of working together to some goal, but in the sense of doing things that improve other people's lot. The more you screw people over, the more it erodes the fabric of society, not to mention creating lots of problems that somebody then has to deal with.

That's off the top of my head. I'm sure people can come up with other reasons.

Oh yeah, and empathy for other people is kinda big. But if you don't have that to begin with, you can't acquire it by someone telling you how it works.

I mean a standard Caesar is pretty safe bet for looking good, but nobody can really help you without pictures of what you look like.

Or you can just go to the barber and be like...make me look good.

Because ruthless means you screw a lot of people over?
I get that, but why is that bad?
...

If it has to be explained, you probably wouldn't understand even if I explained it...

What'd be even better is if you had a second sidebar to show deaths only. And possibly another one to show tamed animals only.

Or even just use {Tab} to cycle through the pages.

This is what I was thinking - either tabs, or openable drop-down lists for your dwarves, merchants, hostiles, invaders, uninvited guests, tame animals, wild animals, circus, and dead. Am I missing any categories? And dead, of course, should probably also be subdivided.

I would rather have a masterwork steel shortsword than a masterwork bauxite floodgate.
A masterwork steel shortsword is only as deadly as the hand that wields it. A bauxite floodgate is only as dangerous as the volcano it wields. A legendary sworddwarf can kill many goblins. A totally unskilled hauler with a lever activated floodgate can kill them ALL.

Yeah, that but floodgate can be any old floodgate. A masterwork sword is still more useful to have around.

@SalmonGod: Huh? As in, we're a third world country but there's a small population of obscenely wealthy people? Or as in, we're a third world country but most of the population is comparatively obscenely wealthy? Because our poor people ARE obscenely wealthy by world standards, but I'm not sure where the third world country comes in.

Then how come most of the young adults I know with college degrees are struggling to find employment that they can more than scrape by on, or have mostly given up and just live with their parents?

Most of them have various cheap gadgets that they accumulate over time and grant the appearance of not being dirt poor, but then many of those are commonly gifts from their elders who got financially established when there was more opportunity, and even if all their irresponsible expenditures over time were combined, would not amount to much against real expenses such as a mortgage.

Could just be where I live, just outside of Indianapolis... which looks luxurious compared to the rural life if you drive out just half an hour, where you can find small towns that really do look like they're in a third world country.

Things may be shitty, but third world? Have you seen any third world countries? Hell, I haven't...unless Egypt counts, though there's some mighty terrible places in Egypt. But America has a long way down to go before it's third world, even in immigrant slums and Appalachia.

Fun fact: Judaism isn't the oldest Abrahamic religion. It's tied with Samaritanism. Nobody can really say which is older.

Secondly, attacking the media or the population at large does nothing to defend Weiner's actions.

I see you still haven't grasped that I'm not defending him.

I can't decide if it's a good or a bad thing that presidents can run for more than one term.

Wait, has it been revealed he did something worse than camwhores and trying to turn random women into camwhores?

Also "pays its bills?" Come on, don't try and make them look like the good guy. Although I suppose their audience is as much to blame.
