DF Gameplay Questions / Re: wich bedroom desing should i use?
« on: June 10, 2011, 10:05:56 pm »
I just started giving each dwarf (or couple/family) a two-story 4x4 apartment with windows overlooking the "street." It's a lot of work, but you need something to do in between goblin invasions.

Any theories on why nerds are so attracted to Japanese stuff?

I really don't understand why you're defending him.

What me?

If so, once again you're displaying a remarkable inability to grasp what I'm ever talking about.

Your last post was a big spiel about how if Weiner did anything criminal then the law needs to be changed. That's some pretty high-order apologetics. Also here's a protip for debate; when someone asks for clarification, it isn't an opening for personal snark about how feeble your opponent's mind is.
No it wasn't; that's not what I said; no it's not; and given how you readily take everything I post in the completely wrong way, I can only assume you're doing it on purpose to be obnoxious.

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: Bins not available to move to depot?
« on: June 10, 2011, 09:18:49 pm »
Don't worry about export bans on binned items; your dwarves get punished for violating the ban if the item they brought to the depot gets traded away, but it isn't bins that are banned, it's bracelets. Your dwarves are bringing bins to the depot, not bracelets, so no one gets punished.
The problem isn't punishment, it's that I literally cannot select the bins to order them moved to the depot. I'll wait for the mandate to expire and see if that fixes it.

As for the water source, I realized it's because there was only one square where dwarves could access my well and if it was occupied they would spam error messages. It didn't help that some fisherdwarf was trying to fish down the well too. Expanding the access helped.

The bin problem is explained by a ban on bracelet exports. It may be time to arrange an accident for my mayor...as for the water, it's an underground cave-water lake, so it's not frozen; and there are tons of empty buckets laying around the hospital.

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Bins not available to move to depot?
« on: June 10, 2011, 07:26:01 pm »
Actually two weird things have just started happening. I'm running 31.25.

First, I have about two dozen finished goods bins packed full of crafts I want to trade for armor and weapons (since my site has no ore except gold). But for some reason, I cannot select those bins to bring to the depot. All the extra crafts that are laying around loose I can designate, but not the bins. The bins are in a finished goods stockpile right next door to the depot.

Also, my doctors keep spamming "Cancels clean patient: No water source." I have an active, functioning well. Wtf?

the whole reincarnation story of morrowind was awesome

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

That sums up one of the primary reasons why Morrowind is great. There's the whole "or is it" quality to not only the main storyline, but literally ALL the accounts of history you encounter in the game. Not only are multiple conflicting versions of history presented, but it's never made clear if one of them is correct, or which aspects of which ones are true. That's what lent it so much depth.

Also, the magic system was one thing they improved from MW to Oblivion. I can't believe skill level didn't decrease spell costs in MW....

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Once again: that's part of what's great about Morrowind. Maybe the Ashlanders are right; maybe they don't know what the hell they're talking about either; maybe they're manipulating you into doing something via an ancient myth - who knows?

I never understood the backlash... What's the big deal, some people want this, and if you don't then just don't bloody watch it!
Of course. Of course there's also the fact that it is harmful in that it allows stupid people's votes to be easily manipulated by spending huge amounts of money, but I was more just fantasizing about outlets like Fox not being allowed to call what they produce "news" in the same way that food companies can't call something "fat free" when it is in fact loaded with fat. Or whatever.

Having mana recharge in Oblivion was also a huge improvement. In MW you basically just had to play as the Atronach and chug potions if you wanted to be a wizard.

Anime makes me want to poke my eyes out.

Except for Spirited Away, that was an excellent movie. Of course it lacked all the main things that I hate about anime.

The Boondocks is fairly anime-influenced, but it's also pretty awesome. In terms of its look, that is.

I guess it comes down to whether or not the women in question actually requested the photographs of Weiner's, erm, weiner. If so, then he's just a regular sicko, which I guess isn't actually hurting anything. If not, then it's at the very least sexual harassment, which if I'm not mistaken is criminal.

The thing is, this runs into the same kinds of problems as determining if consent was given, in order to figure out if a sex act was rape or not. At least one of the women was openly talking about sex with him (quoted on Jon Stewart) and if you're already openly discussing sex, or even sending each other suggestive remarks, then abruptly sending dick pix is no more criminal than if you're flirting with a women in a private area and suddenly dropped your pants. Smooth? Hell no. Likely to get you laid? Of course not. But criminal? I can hardly see how, because then where do you draw the line between that and when you get naked in order to have sex?

I'm not sure what, exactly, indecent exposure consists of, but I'd assume it's something to do with PUBLICLY displaying your junk. In a situation where you're alone with another adult (which is sort of analogous to internet contact) and already having suggestive conversation, I can't imagine that suddenly showing up naked would be considered illegal. If so, then the law needs to change. Otherwise, a woman who invites a man to her place from the bar, waits for him to go to the bathroom, and when he comes back is laying naked waiting for him, could be just as well prosecuted.

If the standard for whether it's sexual harrassment is that the recipient has to have formally said "please send me pictures of your gentials," well....that's just like saying that sexual consent can only come in the form of saying "I consent to sexual intercourse with you."

Like somebody said, if he's doing his job, I really don't give a shit how sleazy he is.

You kind of did. That's why I'm seeking clarification.

"Sleazy": Apparently a synonym for "sexual crimes" since 2011.
