Problem with that is maps that freeze tend to be frozen in early Spring.  Abandoning and reclaiming wont help cuz it'll remain frozen.

Got a flash drive and a friend with a better computer? Copy the game, try it on a better machine, hope it works.  If not, turn the temperature off and dig to find water underground.

And I'm not saying it shouldn't stun the dwarves upon landing, possibly dealing damage or instantly killing them or knocking them unconsious depending on how strong the dwarf is and how far they're launched and all that...

...Just that we should be able to launch our military to their deaths out of catapults.

Not just magma though, we need the exact opposite... barrels filled with water.  Launch them either on a freezing map or a cold/temperate map during winter and bam! Elfsicle...

Also, statues made of ice... I want an ice sculpture garden d'mit!

Try deconstructing the bed from underneath him.  I've gotten wounded Dwarves to get up and get booze when all the water was frozen over that way... maybe it'll get them to realize they're no longer injured.

I make them walk an unneccessaily long distance through the fortress, showing off the great works of Dwarven sociery.

I think in the future, I may start doing it in such a way where the depot is on a constructed platform, held in place by a retractable bridge over a pit of magma.  Seems like a very Dwarfy thing to do.  Sure, I'll have to rebuild it every time I use it, but unnecessary construction is also Dwarfy.

Agreed, I'd prefer if military could be kept active permanantly, even if they weren't currently ordered to station somewhere or make something dead.

While testing a new siege race I modded in in the arena, one of my test subjects had everything chopped off other than his upper body, lower body and head... Think Monty Python.

Granted, these guys don't feel pain and have no blood or organs, but still... It was kinda disturbing seeing it wriggling around.

Mkay, whats the baseline for a creature's speed?  What is the speed of a creature without that tag?
