Somehow I get the feeling that the entire trap I spent half a year working on is now rendered null.

edit: peregarrett, what video/show/animation is your avatar from? It looks awfully familiar to me.

Warning, moderate sized wall of text ahead.

There are 2 different games that I'm looking for.

The first game I remember playing at a game website called bonus.com (which has now been replaced by some kind of lottery website *sadface*) and it went something like this.

You first start out by customizing your character by choosing your race (human, elf, halfling, dwarf) and choosing your class (cleric, fighter, mage, thief). You then customize your stats of strength, endurance, speed, and magic(?) which will later influence your future stat growths as you progress through the game.

Most of the events and descriptions are text based. The only graphics of the game are drawn picture slides of the town, the town outskirts, and the various monsters and enemies and bosses that you meet.

Every time you defeat a boss, you will face stronger and more powerful enemies.

Now I'm not completely certain, but I believe the bosses were:
1. A barbarian lady person
2. A red dragon
3. A warlock
4. Some big heavy fighting creature
...
Until the end when you have to fight this mysterious shadow figure boss who I believe transforms into different things  once its health grows low enough.

..........

Now the second game might be a bit less heard of.
I remember it was a turn-based tactics sort of game where you control a party of ~4 (or was it 5?) characters to take on different opponents on a tile-based map.
The graphics were simple and if I remember correctly, they were like sprites moving around on a grid.

Each unit had its own hp amount as well as something similar to a shield amount (which I believed the game called "focus" or "defense" or something along the lines of those). A unit's "defense" was the first thing that took damage and it would recover by 10 per turn, but once it reaches 0, any incoming damage would directly hurt the unit's hp (similar to how starcraft protoss shields work).

A unit had 2 basic physical abilities. "slug" (punch the opponent), and "grapple" (reduce the opponent's movement). More abilities and spells could be learned later on.

But that's all I remember about these games.

Anyone happen to know what these games might be?
I remember playing them nearly 10 years ago, so I can't really remember their names anymore.

Well it's actually 2 different games that I'm looking for.

If you use a mac it's
Command --> Shift --> 4

Yes... I use mac to play DF.

291
wow, this is definitely a succession with a loooooooooooong history (compared to most others I've seen).

quite amazing, truly quite amazing.

292
But unrestrained aquifer leasing is way too easy to accomplish considering how much destruction it does.

Not dwarven at all.

293
That's quite...
Wow

294
Actually, to keep damage from becoming permanent, the flood isn't aquifer fed.

But there's still a significant quantity of it that you'll have to deal with.

But the water flooding your basement will soon become the least of your worries.

There's a reason why I placed the bomb in the volcano.

*laughs to self evilly*

DF General Discussion / Re: Dwarf Fortress Trailer?
« on: September 07, 2011, 09:11:49 am »
If this were to ever be actually made, I'd like the trailer vid to show what DF appears to be to the inexperienced eye (A bunch of letter g's moving closer to a bunch of smily faces), and immediately afterwards show how a DF player views DF to be (high def quality of blood thirsty goblins wielding crude iron weapons charging against a tight phalanx of speardwarves in an epic fight between two opposing races).

But that's just mostly dreaming stuff up unless we could somehow get a graphics artist here.

297
Ah finally got the upload up here.
To be honest, the turn felt rather weird since I always had a conflicting feeling on whether I should strengthen the fort or ruin it.

298
I like blood.

I don't know what's gotten into me these past few weeks, but all of a sudden, I've been getting cravings for blood.

No, not like those vampires and stuff, I don't want to drink any blood.

But rather, I want to see it spilled.

Spilled on the ground...

Spilled on the walls...

Spilled in the water...

Spilled on our beasts...

Spilled on our enemies...

Spilled on our dead...

I want to see suffering, and plenty of blood.

Especially for that guy who has 8 children (Only Armok knows how his wife managed to bear so many)
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

But of course I can't let any other dwarf know.

So I'll be stepping down from my position for now.

So I won't draw too much attention anymore.

I want to stand at a side and just watch...
At least for now.

But for whoever is the next fort overseer, I'll leave them a little drawing I made.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Not like he's going to understand it or anything, but it's always good to keep em' guessing.
But all I can say is that I'm sure...
That it will bring lots of blood.

299
Oh and AnimaRytak, hope it won't bother you too much, but I'd like to see what the goblin vs demon combat arena that I built looks like with your mod, and if it is still rotting away.

Nastypalms, reminds me of that artifact leather thong someone made in another thread some time ago.
