That doesn't look right. Lost Bastille isn't anywhere near any land, for one thing.

That's not true at all, the bastille is located on seaside cliffs.

Undead purgatory is...somewhere in that area, not much room to place the thing. Should have left it out haha.

Upset? Not really, but definatly disapointed. It was to be expected really. They really shouldn't be advertising with that old footage though, that's flat out false advertising.

Also I've been trying to make some sense of the map. Assuming this thing is even (supposed to be) accurate.
Spoilers warning!

Also same map with player paths as I see them drawn up.

Imo you can tell they didn't put as much detail in the overall map design. In DS1 if you got a good vantage point you could see a bunch of other explorable areas in the distance. I remember from up high in undead burg you could see undead parish and sen's fortress behind it in the distance, firelink, valley of drakes in the chasm below connecting to the end of darkroot, and blighttown on the other side of the wall below. From within the tomb of giants you could see izalith and ash lake in certain areas. Really makes the whole thing feel like one interconnected whole.
Whereas in DS2 most you ever see from a good vantage is an endless expanse featuring terrain according to the area's theme. Well except in majula, that place offers a glimpse of the land showing heide in the distance and what I assume is the fort in giant forest.

Wooh I finished the game! I don't get it though did they keep the easiest bosses for last?
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Started a new character, thought I'd try power stance with two clubs. Hot damn this stuff is overpowered. lv 20 and I'm dealing up to 300 dmg in a single heavy power blow. I pretty much instagib the ironclad knights in the fortress area. This is just crazy powerful especially considering the scaling on these weapons.

I still haven't figured out any sort of defense but rolling away. :y
Started out as a knight, but immediately found I quite literally couldn't use shields to save my life.
"Right-o, enemy is attacking; time to raise shield aaand... woops, now I'm facing backwards."

So now I'm duel-wielding swords and rolling my way around. I'm so bad at this. >_>;
Ah don't feel bad about it, I don't use a shield either. Never in DS1 and so far not in 2. The way I see it, shields are for cowards who feel the need to hide behind a piece of metal!  :P
I've always two handed my weapons so far. Not tried power stance yet, but I think I'd like it.

Mind you I still block sometimes. A weapon with a high block value helps with that, if you're in a situation you absolutely have to.

The co-op for bosses I find especially silly. "Can't beat a boss? Bring a pair of overpowered, kitted out folks with twice your level and let them kill it for you! Want to learn a boss fight? Phantom into someone else's game and die without worry!
Yeah that's why I pretty much play dark souls offline exclusively. Online play trivializes the game to much, while its nail biting difficulty is, for me at least, its charm. That, and balance is never to great for interesting pvp, imo.

Mhm no x is showing up as show spell info in the attunement window. I wish I could just assign another spell in the same slot, but these two slot spells won't have it, very annoying.

I think I figured it out. Something with mouse input messing up the window. Gah did no one test this stuff for bugs.  :(

156
Speaking of magics, well this may sound silly but...how do you unattune a spell?

I've looked all over for any information on how to do it. I'm trying to attune a spell that'll take up two slots but can't for the life of me remove the spells I want to make room. I've tried literally every key I've bound, to no avail. This is so silly.  :-[

Yeah about those bosses, I guess I shouldn't have joined the champion's covenant straight away on a first playthrough hahah. Well, monsters in general don't seem overly strong just some few of the bosses. Some of the other ones I've encountered (dragonrider, covetous demon, last giant) were an absolute cakewalk. Others, not so much.

I will say this a big reason why I'm disliking boss encounters in this game is the death system. In dark souls when you faced a powerful boss that required practice and learning their moves you can just fight, die, learn and do it all over again. Getting killed and learning seemed part of the experience. Meanwhile in dark souls 2 you get punished for it, making new boss fights, and challenging boss fights, more frustrating than it has to be. Losing is fun, but not if the game goes out of its way to punish you for it through stat loss.

Much enjoying the game otherwise, it's just the recurring max health loss on death, combined with the limited amount of available effigies, is killing a bit of the fun. Maybe if I could unhollow as many times as I'd want it wouldn't be such a problem.

158
Dark Soul 2 easier? Tell that to this persuer guy, makes fighting artorias look like childs play. Seriously how the hell am I supposed to fight this thing in such a cramped space.

Guilty as charged I will admit.  8)

Ah oh well I played dark souls with keyboard only as well anyway, so I'm used to it. Still, was sort of hoping they'd put more work in the pc port this timearound, this delay is silly.  :'(

At least I'll be able to boast I play the game single handedly mwuhaha.

Keyboard mouse yes. I unbound the double click nonsense, didn't seem practical. Any way to turn it off altogether?

161
Woo alright let's play this motherfucker.

First impression:
Why is there a second of delay on all my character's attacks? Well, half a second more like, still a long time. I've also had my character flat out refuse to attack after repeatedly pressing my attack key, despite being full on stamina. Feels really off.
Visually stunning even on my old rig, shiny.

General Discussion / Re: Socialism

People sure do seem to conflate socialism and communism a lot.

Not entirely ununderstandable, especially for a capitalist point of view. If capitalism and communism are two extremes socialism does sit somewhere in between. Any shift from capitalism towards socialism is also a step closer to communism.

Not that I'm implying that's a bad thing. I do understand even the mention of the word can cause a bit of knee jerking, especially over on that side of the atlantic.

Egh any economic system is only ever as good as the people behind it, wich is to say it'll always tend to be a steaming pile of corruption and/or class divide. But my poorly conveived opinion on socialism specifically why not.

Socialism is a bandaid fix to a broken economic system (capitalism), but for now it's the best avaible option. It'll still allow for rampant class divide but at least with an acceptable standard of living for the lower end of the spectrum. Like anywhere with a lot of government control there will be corruption. I suppose it is a compromise between two problematics.

Still with ever improving technology comes higher effeciency, and automatons diluting the meaning of labor power. So to as all with economic systems made centric to man and his labor power will socialism have to make room for something more compatible with modern economy.

Life Advice / Re: Math is too hard.

Those don't seem to hard. Fair bit of numbers crunching, especially without calculator, but they seem rather obvious.

Is it possible you are putting to much focus in recognizing patterns in the given information and looking for a matching methodology to use? In my opinion the most logical way to solving such problems is to start with the answer to arrive to and work your way down from there. I would for example always read the latter part of the question for what is asked first, then read the given information.

I agree beta is the best time to test server stability and such, some difficulties are to be expected.
