The silver mode (having skills even after your gold days have expired) is there to make you less worried of purchasing the game. Most people buy gold, thinking that they'd just stay silver once it ends, but find that it's so much more fun with 4 skills that they keep subscribing. They're quite generous with both too... the Eleesha on my ship has had 4 skills even though her gold days have expired for more than 10 days.
It kind of depends on who you're playing. For instance I'm Terrance in my current ship and bronze. While I would love to take robotics expert, it's not a role that demands full attention so you kind of need a second skill to really keep you busy. I can imagine it's the same with Ian, who needs to have a usable skill when not tending plants, or Chao for when he's not shooting people. Sure there's more.

I'd love to have a second skill slot available, but a one time purchase isn't to much to ask. That said I'd love to be able to just buy the second slot and nothing else, I don't intend to buy gold mode on a regular basis.

Inactives are a part of the game. There's little reason to actually have more than 1 skill slot, unless it's to cover up for someone else who died. They make money off people who are taking several different roles at the same time.
Egh random adversities is part of the game yes, but to call inactives intended design seems lazy to me. It's kind of a problem, and it wouldn't be as much of one if first time players weren't thrown directly on an active ship.

Awesome. Our Roland, who had not been communicating at all, got the bright idea to go on an expedition on his lonesome for some reason. He's now lost on the planet,  but more importantly he took the shutltle wich is now stuck on the planet surface. No more expeditions for us!

Anyway I tried to get Roland, and preferably also the shuttle, back by landing one of the patrol ships on the planet, also by myself since it's a one seater. Disastrous result with me crashing on the surface and subsequently getting lost in the woods. Meanwhile I'm still trying to figure out why Roland, who now died due to depression, did it in the first place. Must be a desperate mush and or a complete idiot.  ::)

Oh well suppose it is a lesson learned. I'm still curious though, was there any way for us to get the patrol ship back? If we were to get the tech so it can return unmanned, would it do so despite not being on the ship when the project completed? Had I not gotten lost and crashed the ship, would I have been able to find and return Roland and the shuttle?

Man Chao mush kind of sucks, there's just no way to get any ap at all. Normally when you really need to get cracking you can grab a ration for a quick boost, not so much when you don't eat.
Ended up making spores right after killing someone, excuse to be dirty and have low ap in one. Got bored of watching the ship slowly die while I couldn't really do much, in between having to command the ship and not seem suspicious, so I just went berserk out of boredom.  :)

It involved Raluca yes. I notified the crew she should be dead. I don't think they would have figured it out actually, I just pointed it out to stay legit. Didn't actually kill her though, convinced the rest of the crew it's not worth the bother, being inactive and all.

Got a question regarding gameplay rules. Particularly this one: "Playing against your team could be sanctioned", wich can be interpreted rather loosely.

Say you're mush and also a character expected to actively hunt and kill mush. Also your fellow mush has been inactive since day 1. Would it be against the rules to, after having found substantial proof, rat out and kill your fellow mush to maintain credibility? Technically you're doing it to further the cause, but I suppose it can be argued. Also would it be allowed if the other player was actually active but compromised?

It's always the pilots isn't it. We had two active ones here, if only one who actually communicates. Had because we lost poor Terrance on an expedition.

Not that it'll matter much. If the hunters don't finish off the pitiful remainder of the hull, morale will likely soon kill us all. Well all except the mush.

Inactives are kind of a problem in this game aren't they. Especially sad to see the inactives identified as multi teamster. Everyone is just trying to get an active ship I guess, kind of a buzz kill.

Can't help there I'm afraid, it wouldn't be right to try and convince you of something I do not believe myself. Again though would like to stress on not dwelling on the negative and instead being a force of the positive, if you continue to feel guilty.

Ah a fellow cynical soul! I can relate, albeit not with the whole cutting thing wich I've never done.

On your depressing world view, I won't try to convince you of another outlook. In fact I'd say you have the right idea of things. Socio economically speaking when one person profits, another suffers. Taking advantage of everything and everyone is business as usual, all soly for personal gain. The powerful feverishly cling to their power and seek assimilate more of it, seeking to control and own everything their power allows. It truly is a dog eat dog world.

However
Recently, I have found it difficult to believe that any goodness in anything, be it people or ideas, has any chance of existing, and that it is an inevitable course of action that the worst triumphs in the end: no struggle between a man and his circumstances can end with anything but more suffering than there was beforehand, and if said man becomes better off, than it is only because he has made others suffer in his stead.
I must disagree here. It is possible for a person, through their actions, to improve things for themself and/or others without taking advantage of another. It's just that it is more advantageous to cut corners and cause suffering for others. Not impossible, just not the most effective way to play the game.

About the self harm bit here's my advice. I'm not going to tell you to not feel guilty, even though you really shouldn't. Well at least not in the magnitude as you are. It's a big world, and all its troubles are not yours. That isn't to say they aren't partly yours, as a moral human being.
Anyway, just feeling guilty does not help in any way. Neither does harming yourself as you are. Not to say punishment is futile, just fruitless and in your case really not necesary. If you truly feel guilty for living a favorable life then act on it and work to improve conditions for those less favorable. I'm sure there's plenty of volunteer work you could do, even close to home. Be the change you think is needed and all that.
And even if you chose not to, at the very least stop punishing yourself. There is no point to it, no one will be thankful for the suffering you endure you deem you deserve. You do not deserve it, you did not chose your life or anyone elses, you can however chose on how to act on it.

I think they do yes. But it seems pretty irrelevant, if oxygen runs out everyone dies and the mush win anyway, no?

295
Wait what does the spore sucker do exactly? Extract any spores currently on a character?

296
As soon as the active commander dies (or goes inactive apparently?) the crewmember next in line will recieve the title. Chao is next in line for the title, followed by Gioele.

Never mind I suppose that doesn't answer the question. You can afaik hack the command console with the hacker kit, circumventing the title restriction.

Don't suppose anyone is on the ship where Chao murdered Jin Su day 1? It's an awfully messy ship, many crew members who aren't communicating at all, especially players getting away not reporting being dirty at all. I bet the mush are having a field day on this one.

Darn asteroids, not the most glorious way to go.
Was a pretty boring ship to, one inactive and one newb mush. But hey at least I hung up the camera that spotted one, and killed the other.

Are we doing this again sometime? Or maybe an opening on a ship right now somewhere?

Solved the problem it seems, I just wasn't inserting the ram modules propperly. Been to long since I opened 'er up, I forgot you really need to insert those things tight.
Seems to be starting up now, see what it does.

Also looking back on my previous posts, damn so many typos. That's what you get when the hands can't keep up with the thougths I suppose. :-X

Edit: Huzzah posting from desktop! Now to see if it still crashes.

Try putting only one memory stick in at a time that way you can determine if they did crapped out.
Tried this but results were very inconsistent. Wether or not it failed at post seemed random regardless is wich one or both I used.
