DF Modding / Re: [DF 31.12] War of the Ring Mod [WotR 0.09]
« on: August 15, 2010, 12:07:15 am »In entity_wotr_hobbit.txt:I caught the entity tag myself, completely missed the description tag thing. Thanks a million.Quote[OBJECT:HALFLING]
Should be OBJECT:ENTITY.
Edit: Also, you've forgotten to close the description tag in the hobbit creature entry.
I have gotten hobbits to place correctly in worldgen. I'd say what it was exactly that was screwing them up, but there were so many typos in their entity file that no one thing was responsible. I guess I shouldn't have been working while watching a movie.
The fix isn't up yet because I'm working on fixing some other things as well, notably ents. Once I've cleaned up the error log a bit, I'll load up the patch.
Edit: Version 0.09.1 Released.
Entirely bugfixes. At least 10 changes to hobbits, as well as stat changes for Ents and Elves that had been incorrect before. (A value that was supposed to read 1000 read 1500 by mistake, which threw the percentiles out of whack.)
Tomorrow, work on ents will continue, and I'll begin the weapon re-write. From here on out, generally expect tweaks on previous changes to be sprinkled throughout.
And, last but not least, I've learned my lesson about testing in the arena AND in worldgen from now on.

DF Gameplay Questions / Re: Dwarves won't strip prisoners?
« on: August 14, 2010, 11:50:12 pm »No like it actually comes up as one of those "dwarfort.exe needs to shut down" error messages when I try to save sometimes. And when I load it up the a similar message appears.I know. Trust me.

DF Gameplay Questions / Re: magic instant trees blocking magma?
« on: August 14, 2010, 11:49:39 pm »Actually, trees, for all intents and purposes, act as constructed walls. This has been the case from a long time.I'll remember that....

Sure enough, my younger brother, ever the faithful tester, has discovered that hobbits aren't placing correctly in worldgen, leading to frequent crashes during "placing civilizations" as well as a total lack of hobbits in the game.

DF Gameplay Questions / Re: How long till the goblins/elves/humans show up?
« on: August 14, 2010, 11:14:49 pm »
You most likely won't meet any other races until the second year, or later. Humans especially so.
Hit tab. Eventually a list will come up showing the civilizations that have access to the location.

Pretty much the only rule on the forums is search before you post.
To have things be dumped, you have to zone a place to dump them. Logical enough.
under "zones", draw your rectangle, and set it as a "garbage dump".
Secondly, I believe you first have to build the cages (b > j) before you can look inside.
3. That is just DF being too complicated. When that happens, just ignore it. I guarantee if you give it a minute, it'll come through. Windows thinks DF has frozen just about every time the game has to save or load something. Seriously, just give it a minute to do its thing.

Version 0.09 Released.
I'm starting to get really impatient with adding creatures/civilizations, so the next big change is likely to be the first parts of the weapon overhaul.

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: City of gold

You should carve out a giant El Dorado style gold city, so you can revisit it in adventure mode.

DF Modding / Re: [DF 31.12] War of the Ring Mod [WotR 0.07.01]
« on: August 14, 2010, 09:07:52 pm »how about outdoor farming, but the only thing's they can plant take forever to mature, have low food value, *can be brewed into beer, I mean man they neeeeeed beer* and produces only one seed per plant? That way farming is only useful for beer, and a small supplement food supply/take huge amounts of room and time for small gain?Is it possible to make only a certain caste of dwarf able to farm?

DF Modding / Re: [DF 31.12] War of the Ring Mod [WotR 0.07.01]
« on: August 14, 2010, 09:02:45 pm »so watching this, though how to you propose letting dwarves be playable if they can't farm, just have to fish and butcher alot?Yes, as well as trade. In LotR, dwarves traded their weapons and armor for food. I'm not sure how dwarves are going end up long-term, and if bringing back underground farming is necessary, I'll do it. Elsewise, I might give them access to outdoor farming once again. We'll see what ends up working best.

DF Gameplay Questions / Re: Surgery impossible? (Solved: surgery is possible)
« on: August 14, 2010, 08:44:35 pm »Eureka!Yeah, all of that is known buggery. I forget if there's a solution. Perhaps turn off recover wounded temporarily?
Placing a table directly adjecent to the bed, prevents the job cancellation!
My surgeon is performing surgery properly, as I type this.
EDIT: New problem. Surgery keeps getting interrupted by another dwarf, grabbing the dwarf from the table while undergoing surgery, with a 'recover wounded' job.

DF Gameplay Questions / Re: Surgery impossible?
« on: August 14, 2010, 08:19:20 pm »Is there any way to get surgery done, without getting the 'surgeon cancels surgery: patient not resting' message?Nope. They'll do it on the floor.
If I deconstruct the tables, will the surgeon operate the patient while he is lying on a bed?
*chuckles*

after re-reading, I think I understand better now.
You're saying you want a de-centralized, global wireles connection.
