Curses / Re: What are my chances of getting my character off as innocent?
« on: October 24, 2013, 09:01:27 pm »
Isn't there a possibility of having one of your sleepers in the jury?

I think what this is... is actually that your sleeper judge influences who the jury is and specifically has them be more liberal, not that it's an actual sleeper of any sort that gets into the jury. I always get the secret liberal handshake when I have a sleeper judge.

With stats like those, sounds like a walk in the park.

^This

It gets a LOT harder based on the amount of crimes you have, like it might get near-impossible with huge amounts of murders (>250), but those stats can easily get you out of most crimes. 13 Law is the big one, that's really high, and I'm pretty sure the most important factor when defending yourself (persuasion comes next I think, pretty sure they're not equally important).

Common skills? Like science, religion, business and the rest of the skills like that?

Basically if you look at what skills the target has, you will get a bonus for each skill that the liberal shares that's between 0.5 and 2 times the target's skill. For example, if the conservative has 4 pistol skill, then your liberal gets a bonus to seducing if their pistol skill is between 2 and 8. Repeat this process for every skill, each one that fits the range gives you a small bonus to your odds. Apart from that, spending the money for the date always improves your rolls. Your seduction is definitely high enough, but the rolls are pretty tough a lot of the time.

I did the same thing and had the same issue, pretty sure theres nothing you can do without either applocale or changing your settings. But I know what you mean, everything looks completely different  ::)

Glad you got yourself some income again!

LCS can wait for your life to re-stabilize, especially with a new version for everyone to find bugs in ;)

This is a really good question, I was kind of wondering this myself.

For actual fighting, you want to have decent levels of Dodge skill, as that makes you dodge even bullets at higher levels (better odds against weaker enemies, worse odds against high skill enemies). If you've got plenty of moeny, you could even just train it at the university. Other than that, as has been said, First Aid is important as you can stop bleeding during your attacks if someone in you party has sufficient skill in it (also trainable at university). Remember that raising juice means raising stats; someone with 250 juice will always been vastly superior stat-wise to someone else with the same profession, but low juice. And higher stats means higher dodge chance, taking more shots, etc. Armor never hurts either, tailors can make heavier body armor, or you can grab some by killing soldiers at the army base or killing cops for theirs (army is better). It's also very advantageous to take large parties rather than small ones when you're not worried about stealth; a couple bad rolls with a small squad can prove deadly if they're not strong enough. Like if there's 2 soldiers and you have 3 liberals but you get some misses or only kill 1 soldier in the first round, you could potentially lose someone to a lucky headshot or if they're unarmored then just being shot in the chest. Keep in mind that M4 rifles do the most damage, while M16s have the best accuracy, so it's best to train your guys with M16s until they have good enough accuracy that the bonus isn't really helping (at that point you swap to M4s for more damage since they hit all their attacks anyway).

For kidnapping, it's kind of an elaborate setup, so check the wiki. Main things you'll want are the correct clothing pieces (different clothes help interrogations more) and very high psychology skill (and charisma, its related attribute).

The CCS Boss never used to be there, and you only shut it down by killing enough people. But since the CCS Boss has been added, killing him is the only way to shut it down. And yeah, he's pretty damn strong. Must've been a bug that you killed him and it didn't shut it down, because it's supposed to.

Does failing the check give you a message or is it exactly the same as getting the apartment normally?

You won't know if he calls the cops unless you have a police sleeper, it appears you're getting it normally ("Geez, just take it!" or whatever). To be careful, just wait a day or two before moving stuff into it.

Thanks, that explains it nicely. There's a chance to be raided by the cops the next day? I've never heard of that before.

Yup, you have to just fail the check, and you'll get the apartment but he calls the cops and they show up to raid the next day or so. I've had it happen at least once or twice.

I don't think it has anything to do with juice or what weapon you're using, I think you just need to have high skill with whatever weapon you're using.

I always thought it included a Persuasion roll. Code dive time!

Edit: Yup, it's Persuasion-based. Just make sure you've been in the news and not 100% stealth beforehand, or it makes it nigh-impossible.

Code: [Select]
         int roll       = a.skill_roll(SKILL_PERSUASION);
         int difficulty = DIFFICULTY_FORMIDABLE;

         if(newscherrybusted == false)
            difficulty += 6;
         if(armed_liberal == NULL)
            difficulty += 6;

         if(roll < difficulty - 1)
               fail and he tells you to go

         if(roll < difficulty)
               you get it for a day, he calls the cops, you get raided next day and are no longer renting

         if(roll >= difficulty)
               you get it free

Curses / Re: Raising Computer Skill Legally

I think hacking gives quite a bit of heat, but only if you don't pass the "cover your tracks" skill checks.

Did not know this existed, is it just a general Int or Computer check or is it just random, or what?

^There's been a thread on it already, page 2 of these forums.

It seems to be fine, it's 1-2 versions old, definitely not national LCS, I think 1 version behind the last main release, could be before banks even, can't remember. It's a pretty decent port, but like most phone games it causes me hand issues because of the placement of the buttons. It's also a lot harder to play without an actual keyboard, even though the controls are fine... it's just too slow to press what you want because there needs to be a button for each keyboard key you would have. Also it doesn't have auto-wait (press S to wait until an encounter happens), so you have to keep moving or waiting to get an encounter. Otherwise, works pretty well, still a few bugs but it works.

Curses / Re: Making the LCS wiki an actual resource

Any takers?

Go for it!

In actuality, it gets updates here and there, but it's up to the players to keep it up to date. So get working!

Curses / Re: National LCS Revisited (4.07.3 Beta Release!)
« on: July 09, 2013, 08:56:36 pm »
Is recruiting firefighters a useful thing?
Only if you want an axe man.
Also priests, which are quite useful, although they're common enough elsewhere.
Don't forget nuns! Come to think of it, I don't think I've seen a single nun in LCS since National Crime Squad was released. I'm sure they're in there, but the fire station was the only site I could count on them reliably spawning at.
What do nuns do?

They come with religion 5+... otherwise, comedy value I guess? Nuns with guns!
