Curses / Re: Raising Skills Questions
« on: June 24, 2013, 02:23:12 pm »
Is there any way to tell who is a student, and for which teacher?

Is not having a high teaching skill that big of a handicap?

Can't recall the formula for teaching, but I know that if your teaching is too low, you won't be able to skill everyone up to that liberal's high skills levels. For example, 3 teaching and 15 dodge may only be able to get the students to say maybe 5 dodge or so. You'd need to level the teaching skill higher to teach to higher levels.

There's no real "teacher or student" system IIRC, just anyone who is at the same location as someone set to Teaching mode will automatically learn. So with 9 people at a location where 1 guy is teaching, all 8 others will learn. Not sure on the requirements on what needs to be done to be taught, like if you can't go out to sites or you can't be doing activities or what.

Random thought here, but what about eliminating stores from the "Fight Evil" screen entirely? Create a new "Go Shopping" activity in the "Activate Liberals" menu. Players could select a shop from the menu, wait a day, and proceed as normal. It would be no different than stealing a car in the game. The LCS is already prevented from causing trouble at any of the shops, so I don't think too much would be lost by changing shopping to an activity.

BRILLIANT

It's version 4.04, not sure how much effort it's going to be for this person to update to the newest versions. But yeah, it plays impressively well on my mediocre as hell smartphone (don't even ask what it is, I have no idea).

I feel like it adds more flavor to have them in separate places, gives more life to each area.

But it's just too damn handy having them all in once place, makes it so much easier to sort through. I want to buy stuff, commercial district, no looking around for the right shop ever.

Although there's already a bias against targeting low-threat enemies, the situations where you'd get a bad luck and have your squad seem to focus fire on the most pointless target are sufficiently frustrating that I've just gone ahead and made it so that your Liberals will always focus on "dangerous" enemies, with no chance of attacking low threat targets. Expect this change in LCS 4.08!

Curses / Re: How to enter Fallout Shelter?
« on: May 30, 2013, 11:15:13 am »
Well, the key difference with the Gentleman's Club is that the only way to get in is to have a sleeper bouncer. A janitor, for example, wouldn't let you in. The CCS doesn't use bouncers, so in theory you should need a sleeper anything, but it isn't coded that way currently. Right now you can't sneak in. It's possible that you can stealth attack them with a couple people with knives, but I'm not sure off hand whether the automatic detection that door guards get invalidates that.

Exactly what I said in the release thread! We need a way to stealth assassinate, please please please!

Door guards do auto-detect you, you need a sleeper.

Or just shoot your way in.

I have 3 sleepers on the compound. How does this work? I'm still getting rejected. On the gentlemen's club, I had a sleeper and she let me in (even when I was -18 years old). But seems like this doesn't work this way in this compound. What sleeper should I have?

That's odd, it should let you right through, pretty sure at least...

Alright I downloaded the source code to check why I can't come on in and I notice this:

Code: [Select]
if(location[cursite]->renting==RENTING_CCS && location[cursite]->type!=SITE_BUSINESS_BARANDGRILL)
               rejected=REJECTED_CCS;

So you only can enter Bar & Grill in a peaceful way? I can't sneak into the rest of the CCS safehouses? I thought it was possible because the wiki mentioned the disguises... So it doesn't matter how well disguised I am, I'm not getting in there...

Yeah, this has been my experience. I brought this up as well in the main release thread, there's absolutely no stealth way to get into the second and third CCS safehouses without a sleeper or possibly two stealthy knife guys (not sure if this would even work on door guards, they may auto-detect you / prevent you from assassinating). My best idea for this was to have a back door entrance or something similar with a very high security + alarmed door, just so it's not so essential to have a sleeper.

You can get AA12s from CCS leaders. I think that there should be some things you cannot buy, to make it more interesting.

Which is better, an M16 or an AA-12?

AA-12 is just like a shotgun, it doesn't fare too well against armored opponents but absolutely obliterates unarmored ones

It's possible that being armed makes this significantly less likely to occur.

I guess it's also much more common to have like 1 guy still standing and 3 in zombie mode, so they won't just arrest you since someone's still up, then 3/4 of their shots are going to hit someone wounded/on the verge of death. In any case, I find that it's very rare that an actual on-site squad gets arrested.

I don't remember where, but there was a forum post asking if it was a glitch he found a mutant with "1" in all stats, well I found something better.
Code: [Select]
Meeting with Billy Brooks, Mutant, Downtown                        Money: $5510
--Billy Brooks, Civilian-------------------------Liberal------------------------
Hrt:    1  Agi:    1           Top Skills:
Int:    1  Str:    1           Knife: 1
Wis:    1  Char:   1           Security: 1
Hlth:   1  Trans: On Foot      Writing: 1
Weapon: None                   Street Sense: 1
Clothes: Clothes               First Aid: 1
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
One in all stats and skills.

That is... quite impressive. Ultra-hard mode playthrough: only 1-stat mutants allowed.

I think the seduction skill could be looked at. Ive been trailing along a Deathsquad Officer for over two years, and since then the police regulation and death penalty laws have become C, so they don't even exist anymore.

Yeah, seduction is a little off in general. Regular people are incredibly easy to seduce, even Police Officers aren't that bad. But high level Conservatives? Forget it. I recently spent about 3 in-game months trying to get a CCS sleeper, had to go through about 12 different guys to finally get one with my 20 CHA and 17 seduction founder with 3+ business/science and a bit of religion, plus some of the common skills like driving and such that the CCS guys tend to have (so I get better rolls on the dates), all while spending money on every date. A large portion of the time, they would drop me on the first date. With 17 seduction. Some of these formulae really need some changing, maybe rebalancing like making it easier to seduce but it costs more money/takes more time.
You should also cross-train into persuasion and psych. Also, get your founder up to 1000 juice, and max out seduction.

Persuasion was at least 13, Psych probably 1-2 points. Was at... I think 500 juice. But still, the point is here that you can have ridiculously high seduction-related stats and still have a hell of a time seducing. I suppose it might make the game too easy if it wasn't as hard, but it's such a big grind as it is now...

Getting a bit off topic but still related to this release, I was going ahead and testing the assassination of the CCS Bosses. The Bar and Grill one was really easy, my sleeper got me past the guards and I stealthed my guy over to the Boss and killed him, no problem at all. So then I moved on to the Fallout Shelter. I had used seduction to get the location, but didn't grab the guy as a sleeper, just got the location and broke off the dating. Because of this, I couldn't get past the door. I didn't test it, but would you need 2 stealth guys to be able to get past the entrance undetected? There's always 2 door guards, so if you stabbed one of them, the other would see and you'd go to alarmed state. Since there's no other entrances, would the only way to assassinate the boss then be to have 2 stealth liberals? In any case, I feel that there should be some secondary way in, like maybe a back entrance with only 1 guard but a high-security door that's tough to open, just so that it's somewhat plausible to do one-man-army assassinations.
I think Fox changed it so you can get past the B&G bouncers without a sleeper; the latter two locations are completely nonpublic, though.  As such I know I didn't make a back door, and haven't gotten that far in my playthroughs to check on the new maps.

(Guard/Bouncer positions always have two people in the current coding--unless the alarm's going off already, at which point they're unstaffed.)

I know I've been able to drop lines to generic Conservative encounters and subsequently fade into the shadows.  Perhaps leaving the encounter and coming back might leave the lone guard and set up a backstab?

I just realized... even if you backstab the guards, you'd probably set the alarm off before you get to the boss, since people will find the body and set off the alarm after X amount of time. So it seems REALLY implausible to assassinate Bosses anywhere that you don't have Sleepers. Maybe make some change to make it plausible? I like the system, but it seems impossible to do assassinations without Sleepers...

Also, bug that I noticed in this non-SVN version (not sure if fixed yet): Got sleeper for Bar and Grill, attacked it, sleeper gets outed from the attack. Now have no sleeper there. Go into the site with combat squad again, "Go right on through", the door guards acted as if I still had the sleeper active. Weird.
