Other Games / Re: Tom Proudfoot site update!
« on: December 24, 2007, 08:22:00 pm »
Actually I recall a similar problem when I first started playing. I'd go to the menu and instead of hitting enter I'd hit spacebar and get totally confused by being redirected to tutorials. This was on my 1st attempt at running the game and nearly overwhelmed me.

@SkeleTony: I'd really suggest you give it an honest go, taking the time to get comfy with the devilish UI. Missing out on a great game, possibly one of the best ever, because of a play style seems almost tragic to me. (Note I'll play games of any mode\genre, provided I think they're worth playing. Unfortunately that's not many.)

I was really hoping Mortal Online would offer a perma-death server. :[ (Yes, I'm one of those sadists.)

Curses / Sleeper Judges

Is there a way to plant them without kidnapping? I seduced a judge but can't figure out how to get her to go back to work.

P.S.- I return to this game sporadically and I have to (again) tip my hat to Mr. Fox, great work man!

For money, hackers seem to get good amounts. And as for asking for donations, I believe it is based on how much the LCS is liked\known + characters juice\charisma. -It's never a large amount but if you have good support and several characters doing it, it's a nice legal cash flow.

Pardon me if there already is one, but I've been trying this game out again, and I can't seem to tell what half the options are for. I imagine there are other people in the same boat, and some that actually know! This thread should be for those conservative minds like me, recieving liberal enlightenment from the latter party. So here goes:

1) Any benefit to car theft other than access to outskirts?

2) What do the investments do for the safe houses? I think I know for some, but I've really no idea for others (Power Generator?), so please just gimme a rundown.

That's it for now.

Edit:

3) What's the difference if any, between the University Hospital and the Free Clinic?

4) When viewing a squad, skills are listed as  #/#, what is the second number for?

Nite, I think the real decision here is how much do you like your girlfriend? Or boy\best friend, whomever it may be that winds up devouring a large chunk of your free time.

Um, I like DF as one of the few things that'll keep my mind off of the aforementioned subject.

Yeh, but I still care if they fall. Especially because they'd done scumbag things like secure exclusive rights to league licenses for their sports games; which is effectively a near monopoly and tries to prevents others from making better games that expose theirs for the crap they are. I mean, imagine the outrage on these forums if tomorrow Blizzard had secured sole rights to fantasy creatures (i.e.; dwarves)!

Edit: Sorry for the run on sentence, it's too early, no coffe, construction outside, can''t think.

Way to crush dreams you two! Are you practicing for when you have kids? (jk)

Yeah, I didn't think so. I remember reading some economic quarterly not too long ago and it cited EA as being healthy in present and future, but I was reeally hoping nonetheless.

My long indignant reply:

But you'd love to get a sneak peak at a work in progress! (Which essentially is what either version of DF are.) Especially with musicians, I know fans love the idea of hearing a song live or a studio version before it hits on an album. Not to say that being forcefully persistent is good with anything. (ex: "I want sex, I want sex, sex, sex, come on!, gimme, gimme, gimme!...How about now?" -See where that gets ya, and if the answer is lucky I'd like to meet your friends.)

Personally I have one, but DF ownz mah w3rld. I work, go to school, have other hobbies, and surprisingly some friends too; but that doesn't satisfy my DF fix. Yesterday I was out with friends till about 3:30 or so, but a part of me was still thinking (against better judgement) "I hope it's out when I get home."

I'm going to become a junkie to pacify my DF anxiety. (But before angry parent mobs blame Toady and games, let me just add that I really want to be cool.)

@ Thallone: Hey FU!!!!!! I'm still waiting for the Brothers Karamazov sequel!   ;)

Nope, you're not alone. (Well, it's the Ukraine today so maybe it doesn't count.)

Actually, now that I think of it - I'm the only one to have been within a 100 miles of a major nuclear disaster.

Y'know I was just thinking how cool it would be to have an adv\dwarf hybrid mode similar to Oregon Trail. A path to the promised land on which you might lose some starting supplies\dwarves before arrival, but maybe gain some skills\others. I try to avoid flooding the suggestions section cause Toady seems already pretty flooded with work but I'm glad somebody hinted at it.

Edit: @ Teldin, even then you can theoretically stuff it with an unbelievable ammount of supplies.
