Not the best starting seven, but good enough for me until my first migrant wave.

The story:
My human adventurer came across a cave. Inside was a Freak mate of Shadow. He announced himself, said 'Prepare to die!'. I jumped on him, bit his neck, and tore his head off. After I still had his decapitated head in my mouth. Thought it would make for a good picture  :D

Dwarves must have a really high pain tolerance.

Ive just started a new fort, and ive built it into the most awesome mountain range. Basically its three huge natural pillars holding up a near perfect square of mountain.

The lines are ground and the dots open space. Also the middle pillar is a volcano  8)

Ok, so I muddied the ground of my plot, selected the seeds and I have a farmer with farming fields enabled. Yet, even though the has no job, he wont farm it. Does anyone know what happened? Ive never had this happen before.  :-\

Ive built a fairly good fortress here, but im having one problem. I cant make bolts for my ballista. It says I need 'Refined coal'. I have plenty of Bituminous Coal, so how do I refine it?
