That was... super badass, yeah.

I do have one question, though: why did Spades engage the players before he engaged Lord Jack? Seems like a kind of pointless endeavor on his part considering he was expressly out to wreck LE.

Failure to communicate. During the briefing Vriska just saw *a* Jack and assumed, since two out of three known Jacks were omnicidal maniacs, that Spades was also a maniac. Spades sees something like LE, right after taking LE's gang, and probably assumed LE had a new gang. Team Striderzi didn't really stop to ask questions or pay attention, so Spades had to defend himself. It kinda looks to me in the Strife that Spades is mostly defensive vs the players, mostly aggressive vs Union.

Same thing more or less happened with Jake. Jake was told there'd be a fight, so he shot first. Odds aren't terrible Ms. Paint could have talked down the Felt, whatever the Felt are even after anymore. It all more or less worked out in the end, and part of me assumes Spades was taken out just to guarantee the Mayor gets that spare ring to fight English.

Caliborn's interlude was him as normal, before he hulked out and became LE. The current strife is long after that interlude fight, and probably on a different timeline. My current guess is John's retcon powers retcon that alternate timeline and prevent LE (or at least his current form), but I'm not sure how that would shake out with doomy dooms and all that stuff.

Or Calliope shuts off the green sun, depowering lots of people. It's been said before that the Sun powers the sessions, but we haven't really seen anything outside LE's modified sessions, so that could be a defense mechanism to keep people from tampering with LE's power supply in the important sessions he needed to exist. I also suspect LE tampered with the game itself to rig it in his favor (as his null session was designed specifically to his strengths and allowed him to win), not counting the sabotage and Doc Scratch stuff.

EDIT: There was also a few panels that explained Dave had to have Caledfwlch in its current from (made with a cueball) to even harm LE. The ghost army may just be wasting their time, or The Weapon might need to be used with Caledfwlch somehow. Getting to the fight might be a problem, though. Davepeta is really strong and even they needed a long flight to get bearings.

So, after the amusing viking pic I borked a while back, I've been doing some basic figure drawing. It's taken a week or so, but I think I'm getting somewhere in the ballpark.

I think the head's a bit too big, and the neck just slightly too long? There's no reference for me to post (I know, I should have used one), but if some kind soul could double-check me, I'd be ever so grateful.

I'm not usually one for feels, but let's talk about Dad Crocker for a minute.

Guy's been in prison for months (not being tortured, but still), knowing full well he could easily escape, but that HIC would kill him if he tried. He's watched while his daughter was duped into basically a drug bender. This version also watched his daughter get brainwashed by his jailer, and kill her best friend (this Jane killed the native Roxy), while he was still helpless.

Finally he sees Jane show up with her friends, ready to take on HIC, who is partially empowered by a living god. During the fight, Cans interrupts and threatens the kids' safety, including Jane's. So Dad punches through a brick wall with his bare hands to watch their backs. (Bonus moment of awesome, Dad is so strong that when Cans punches him... nothing happens.) While he's busy, Jane gets badly wounded but he can't interfere.

When the fight's over, he sees the kids flying off together, with his daughter. He doesn't interrupt their victory to say goodbye, just stands aside because the little girl he raised doesn't need him anymore. He's so Dadly, by the way, that he accepts being stranded on Derse to let Jane celebrate.

And then he turns around to see "Jane" offering him her hand. One version of her never forgot him.

Bonus: For Nana, this is the first time she's seen her "son" in three years or longer, since Dad Egbert was brutally murdered by Bec Noir.

Yeah, it's 1 per customer. Don't remember when that was established, probably prior to Game Over.

The style is because guest artists. The catch-up on the Vriska timeline we're in was also the same because the same person/people contributed to it.

I'm cautiously optimistic that this is an actual victory for now. We're really close to the end and I don't think all this would lead to the characters actually losing everything. Plus there's the soultrap still to come into play somehow.

HIC held up aranea the same way too and she very died though

Agreed, but Roxy get chokeheld as well and wasn't killed. Looking at the flash, Jane rezzed Rose and Kanaya. HIC has no way to know Kanaya had the matriorb... but probably wouldn't need her, anyway. Assuming this HIC's plan was the same as Game Over!HIC, she'd only want/need to spare Roxy (to make an orb) and Jane (for an heir and sentimental reasons, as no living Feferi exists barring ring of life which this HIC also wouldn't know about). I could see it going either way, but the rez Jane stuff would be a bit of a time waster this close to the end when it could be skipped with the same result.

Time will tell, I suppose. I'd be fine with either.

... There's also the fact that Meenah is a Life player, and the Condesce is Meenah. It's been shown that dancestors still have access to some of their player aspect (Signless using seer powers), so there could be more unpleasantness too, I suppose. Not sure how Thief of Life would really work aside from the obvious.

EDIT: Man. Watching the fight scenes in slow-mo is highly recommended. Spades rides the golden guncane like a horse! Dirk uses that porcelain doll from howteverthehell long ago.

Unless I've somehow missed it every time, Dirk never got revived by Life powers - depending on which direction in time Dave traveled, there may be shenanigans available. I got nothing for Jane, though.

The more I think about it, I don't think Jane's dead. HIC was holding Roxy up the same way and it was just a choke hold, and as people have mentioned Jane would be an heir and useful later on. There are a few times where she has people on the ropes and could easily just skewer them, but does not. She's not as angry as the one in Game Over.

If it comes to that, though, there's still the Ring of Life, and Calliope hasn't had the one-off Jane rez yet. Transfer ring, rez, rez, move on.

I don't think there's time for much more than that, unless Act 7 really surprises me in amount of content.

Rare weapon collection, big game hunting, stockpiling nonperishable food to last for a few years. Joyriding a custom tank through the next town (and by through I mean through buildings). Customizing wherever I've picked as a base (like adding on a shop with palisade gate and roof, things like that).

So, looking over the old road map linked a page or two ago, it does look like the stuff made it in, in one form or another.

Did anyone ever come up with concrete stuff that was 100% said "yeah bro this is gonna be there" and never was? I skimmed a few of the old IRC logs and haven't found an outright failure to deliver yet, aside from stuff like "you can paint  your guns".

Note the employee practices are still shit, but I'm just asking about the game right now. The IRC chats are copy/pasted into this forum's old thread, and reddit has that roadmap archive. What, specifically, is AWOL here?

For me it's a link just under the main forum banner. I think posting ina thread is enough to get it on that list. There's also a Notify button, but that sends out emails instead, so...

I've mentioned this a few times in the years since, but one of my early posts in the old thread was along the lines of "if they make something kinda like Terraria in space, I'll be satisfied." I enjoyed Terraria for the building moreso than the min-max combat, so I'll probably at least partially enjoy 1.0.

It was obvious from the start given the mysterious falling out Tiy had with Redigit that there was something shady going on with him, and that Tiy couldn't handle working with a team that well. It's a question of managing your expectations and leaving them at a sane level, which for a brand new team with dubious pedigree should be pretty damn low. I do feel bad for the competent people that got roped into the company's PR debacles and had to leave quietly over the years, though.

At this point I also just don't have the fucks to give over $15 I knew was a gamble when I spent them 4 years ago. Life lesson, I guess - people lie sometimes and can be incompetent. They've still handled this much better than Towns ever did, by a country mile.

Eh, much of a naysayer as I've been for a while, the game itself doesn't look too bad. I'll give it another go whenever 1.0 is out and the patch or four to fix whatever 1.0 breaks is also out.

Already spent money on it long ago, no reason not to play it, right?
