It's a shame animals can't be assigned armor.

> Elephant arms self.
> Elephant put in danger room.
> Legendary wrestler/striker/wtf ever

If you want to see an elephant with those abilities, and don't mind a bit of additional modding, you can actually hard-code elephants to have legendary skills innately without need for danger rooms using the [NATURAL_SKILL:X] tags.
Dear Armok, what if a legendary skilled Elephant (they deserve the respect of a capitol E) tasted Urist McHarbringer-of-the-apocalypse's blood?

Oh wait, I know.  The elephant would utter one phrase:  "I have become Death, destroyer of worlds." Then your fort crumbles to an end.

1) Settle near an elven civ that's settled in a Tropical location with a high Savagery rating and wait for them to bring you a breeding pair of Giant Tigers.

2) Train Giant War Tigers

3) Giant war tigersplosion
Add the [VERMIN_CATCHER] tag into the raws for Gian Tigers ;) (I very likely messed that tag up.  Just copy it from the domestic cat)

as soon as she he is old enough, promote her him to mayor of your fort.  Also designate a meeting hall around her his bed (so she he will get re-elected)

I've heard people say that they've increased their FPS by quite a bit by replacing all staircases with spiral ramps. This would suggest that stairs use more processing power for whatever reason.
But I have also heard people say they have had FPS increases from replacing ramps with stairs.  So I would assume that ramps are better for some forts while stairs are better for others.  One thing is for sure, as long as no dodging/fainting is going on, your dwarves will fly around the fortress at crazily efficient speeds.

I am playing the other adamantine spire posted recently right this very second. The spire went from ground level to 50 z's down. Hell is empty like the day after the circus. Nothing, nada.

And there is PLENTY of adamantine. About 15-20 pieces per floor for 50 floors.
What spire? :o

She's talking about this.

Maybe.  There was even another spire posted recently.  It was a several z-levels above ground but it wasn't the space elevator.  or even close...

If you didn't get a message about horrifying screams, you are safe.  floor it over, and only dig the parts that will not reconnect with that open tube center.  carefully mine away the others that are "normal" anb just make sure to not mine any 4x4 areas.

Maybe this incredibly rare terrain feature isn't a bug at all, but Toady's way of explaining the presences of civ-leading demons, titans, and night creatures on the surface world.
That is a very good point

I always make cheese now. :D

That's a mildly disturbing image, but good job producing so much PREPOSTERONE.

Search for "Project Cube."
This.  It was an amazing thing to watch.  So much wealth...gone...in so relatively little time ;)

it doesnt look like a floor to me, one of the tiles is slightly different.  So i think it is just an open space square.  Dont mine out very much adamantine below the surface that comprises the actual tube.  Fortunately, you have plenty of adamantine to work with.  Make a couple adamantine mugs to trade off the first autumn so you can focus on whatever else you want.

and sometimes the caverns are so tiny that they compose 60 tiles of space.  On one z-level.  But basically, go down to the very very bottom level of your map, go up about 10 levels, and thats about where you should hit magma (use a staircase when magma hunting so you dont channel a dorf into it.  lol.)

Also, I get most of the in jokes on the forums, but the one about cheese evades me. Could anyone explain this one?

On the wall is a masterful engraving of a cow cheese by Urist McStoner.

That's really all there is to say on the matter.

To elaborate, dwarves really like to engrave cheese.

As they rightly should.  Cheese is awesome.

Just dig down.  ;)  If you dont embark on a volcano, then if you dig deep enough you will hit magma (unless the map is glitched)

According to Heisenberg, not really. Scientific answer.

Actually, you can know a lot, it's just that there's a limit.  You can pretty easily say "it's near here going about this fast", but not any more than that.
Or you can say "It is right here but I have no frickin clue how fast its going." or  "Its going this fast.  You want to know where it is?  Don't ask me..."

Cook that rhesus macaque meat into an amazingly valuable meal.  Just for giggles.  ;D
