I have a Dwarf Axe man and he is nigh unstoppable. he is as fast sneaking as he is not, and I took on a bronze colossus, and 2 iron men simultaneously and got one finger sprained. :P     Though I need more armor... still only have the standard.

ohh and he's ultra-mighty, nbelievably Agile, and Super Dwarvenly tough.

BTW: Waht does toughness do????

heh, My dwarf can one hit Titans, and collosus's with only 1600 points in axe (which is his highest weapon other than wrestling which is at 5200) heh did I mention he's a walking fort? :P

lots of beer. and lots of barrles. that is the biggest key. use the ground under those trees to farm asap and you should do good, just remember that ice stones are UTTERLY worthless. (you MIGHT be able to make constructions with them I don't know though.)

yeah that pop explosion can be a real killer. In my latest fortress (which is on the archive.) I nearly lost it due to haveing 100 dwarves and only my original 2 farmers. (then luck stuck and I had an immigration of 24 farmers. :P )saved my bacon.

something that you need to remember, you need TONS of barrels. I have one plot in my fortress and it provides more than enough food for 155 dwarves. Once I got enough barrels t ostore the food (My one plot produces enough food in 2 seasons of growing that I can keep 2 Stills and 2 Kitchens with adept users going all year around.) My bottle neck in food production however is barrles. I have around 200 right now, but I need about 600. ( and I have nearly clear cut the entire map of trees.)

Yourmain halway needs to be set to the followig ratio.


1 width per every 20 dwarves after the 1st width.


In code form

x = 1 + (D/20)
IF x > 6 Then
x = x + 1

where
x = width of main hall
D = total Dwarves

(this means that for 120 dwarves that main hall needs to be 7 wide, though it also needs to be supported  :) )

Also as a sde note if you have windows and can't understand what I said.  :)

code:

D = Inputbox ("Please input the total amount of dwarves.")
x = 1 + (D/20)
msgbox ("Your hall needs to be at least" & x & " tiles wide.")

 


and put that into a .txt file and resave it as a .vbs :P

you ned one log to turn into carcoal before you can smelt coal into coke. and you need either 1 charcoal or 1 coke to make 2 coke(or any for that matter.). So if you already used up all your wood, you'll have to wait for a migrant to bring an axe.
