Those adventurers you find and eventually seem like they'll live forever. I had around four, and two of them had titles.

Get companions, stay on the roads.

I named most of my companions after friends. All but one of them died. Unfortunately, he was disabled by a cyclops who scratched his leg clean off. He didn't die there, but he did later after we had some more adventures and killed a couple titans.

When in one-on-one, I go for the hands or arms in order to disable them. If that doesn't work, a slash to the lower body usually stuns them and spills their guts. When in group combat, I usually run away for a little until the people get into a line and can't all attack you at once. Then I do what I do with one-on-one. I only disable them then come and finish them off.

I remember this one time I was playing as my best adventurer yet, and was just doing awesome stuff. So I started playing I Am The Anger (I Am The Power) by Firewind (can't find a link for this) when doing awesome stuff, but then bad things happened. Since my adventurer's so amazing, the death was really cool and drawn out. I stopped playing that song, and started playing Song for Bob by Nick Cave & Warren Ellis (http://www.playlist.com/playlist/additem/463164177), which is a rather sad song. It was fitting.

In a rather avoidable manner. Cloven Earthguard the Awe-Inspiring Brightness of Sugar was tasked with killing a sand titan. I went on my way to do so, with a band of twelve. On our way, we were ambushed by goblins, barghests, a couple mistresses and three raptor dragons. Everyone but around three people died, including me. Survivors were a Hammerman named Swes, who survived a titan's spit to the lower body, a swordsman named Barly, near one of the originals, and Awerete, a wrestler, who killed a raptor dragon with his bare hands. We kept traveling because we were too far from any civilization to turn back now. Eventually, we reached the shrine, but there was a castle a little south of there. We decided to move past and sleep. Unfortunately, it turned to night before we could get there and we got lost. We were very drowsy by this point, so we decided to sleep in the forest. Unfortunately, this is pretty much always a death sentence for my adventurers and I have now learned that lesson. We were assaulted by Ezrakim elves, and only Swes died, as far as I can tell. Do battles just end when you die, causing everyone else to stop fighting and go elsewhere?

You have to bring the flute of panaegaea with you to soothe them. Then they give you the skull key.

Oh, okay, I assume I get it in the stage with the dinosaur army?

Actually, it's just after.

Man, DF's story is really well written. I especially enjoyed the arena level where you have to help The Neverar fight off the entire Circus after he gets teleported into the world by the hero from Battlespire, then the ground collapses beneath you. It's lucky he had that ring of regen on him.

So, when do you fight Morul? I heard that if you devour his heart you become legendary in your skill of choice.

I actually heard that you have to fight one of the fallen, corrupted avatars that came before you near #70. Is this true?

DF Adventure Mode Discussion / Re: Favourite Adventure Mode Moments

I started up a new adventurer Human after my last Dwarf got killed by a brush titan. I went around being awesome, until I recruited 3 people. I gave each of them names. Isaac, Gar, and something else I can't remember. Isaac was my favorite until I fought some bandits. He and another named person died. Gar survived. He took a wound to the shoulder, though. Then, I kept asking for quests until I was directed to the person who sent my dwarf to his death. He told me to kill the titan. I gathered 11 people, and went to do so. We traveled to the south, entered it's shrine, and took it down easily. Then, we went back and were hailed as gods. I got more people, as one died. With twelve, we were sent after a dragon. I complied, and went in search of it. We made our way to it's cave, which was littered with treasure and corpses. Some looked fresh. I led the charge, ultimately ending in my death. I was bitten in the chest, and shaken around while I cut at it. Gar, being pretty much my character's Lancer, went up beside it and stuck it in the upper body, cutting apart the muscle and the heart. We had a chance! But, I was not destined to live. The dragon threw me at the wall, and I took the full force of the impact with my upper body. My spine shattered, and a rib was forced through my heart. As I bled out, I saw the dragon tear through Seve, and clawed Ersi in the chest, leaving a nasty gash.

I checked the legends a couple in-game days later on another adventurer. Gar and one other had survived. If I had been smarter, I could have as well.
