I just want to avoid being from the land of the silver sack again, that is lame...

I seem to recall Toady posted a devlog about making hair/skin colours more varied as generations pass. I may be mistaken though.Cool, i will do some testing.
I think the last time you brought this up it was already mentioned that it is actually realistic for most people in one place in a time where most people don't really leave the place they were born in to have very similar traits. However I have noticed it seems to be a bit more varied. During character creation I got a human civilization where the only skin color was brown, but there were at least three hair and eye colors, so there might be more variation than before now. It might have just been luck.Yeah i just dont want everyone in my fortress looking identical with no variation.
Its feels bothersome and intrusive to email him, arbitrary questions. We have other means where that information is given out to the community. And he a updates them regularly.
Even though I'm curious, I hesitate to ask questions like that by email or Twitter. A quick browse of Twitter reveals a somewhat off prediction of 'a couple of months' back in May!
Still, only 17 things to go. That's nice to hear. Then there's the other 600 things that'll need fixing which always turn up when you've got an extra few thousand playtesters. But that's fun for everyone. Toady says the bug fixing period will go on for 'quite a while' this time round.
He really is surprisingly accessible and has answered a pretty detailed question of mine on gameplay mechanics before. I do hesitate to tell people to ask him things directly though, since I'm sure he has plenty to do without distractions.
I'm hoping for something by Thanksgiving, but a Christmas release would be nice too.
Although by his own admission it rarely works out.
This release cycle hasn't been as bad as the last few, but it's still dragging on quite a while. It does seem to be released soon though. I was hoping for a Halloween release, but it's probably not going to happen that soon. Hopefully by the end of the year.
Judging from the reports Toady posts weekly, and the longer reports Toady posts monthly, and the financial report Threetoe and Toady posted last month, the new release is imminent. Remaining issues are down to a single page which Toady is currently staring at (based on Toady's almost daily Twitter report).
So the answer is soon (as in, probably, 1 week - 3 months depending on issues soon) not 4 years.
No, just a bunch of idle, baseless speculation.
Reducing the number of megabeasts and titans might help, or you could go through the legends and see how they're dying out. If it's war I don't think there's a lot you can do.Yeah, but iv reduced them so much now that theres so few of them that theres only like one of each, plus I worry I will have a world without one of the main types of mega beasts.
