DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Underwater Masonry

Before falling damage was in, I was able to pump out a few squares of water, and build constructions (walls) in the pumped out square to make dams.  It seems now that whenever I try to do that, my Mason runs in, gets stunned or something (white X), and cancels the job without even starting the construction.

The region I'm trying to work looks like this:

W = Water
P = pumped out water square

I'm trying to build walls in the top and right P squares.

Anyone know how to do this?

So I've got a fort under an aquifer in the middle of a human town.  Any interesting or Fun things to do here?  I've thought about filling up their tavern with water...

DF Gameplay Questions / Pushing Goblins

Is there any good way to push goblins laterally?  I was thinking of putting a narrow causeway over some magma or pit or something, and having them fall into it.  I tried chaining a war dog on the causeway, hoping the goblin would "dodge" off the walkway, but the dog doesn't seem to care about the nekkid goblin running past trying to escape my dungeon.

DF Gameplay Questions / Weapon Trap Reset?

So I had a handful of goblins on mounts run across a single line of standard serrated blade weapon traps (1 trap deep, about 10 wide).  After the first mounted goblin set off the trap (which nicely disposed of the mount), I noticed that all the other goblins were free to walk over the mount's body parts and corpse without further triggering the trap.  Is there something special that has to happen to reset the trap?  I've noticed that occasionally some dorf will go Clean Trap and wipe off the blood and guts.  Is the blood and guts giving away it's secret hiding spot?

Anyone know how fast marksdwarf exp goes up from shooting archery targets vs shooting live targets trapped in a room?  Is it calculated per shot?

DF Gameplay Questions / Dealing with caged skeleton creatures?

So I've got about 30-40 caged skeletal creatures (mountain goats and marmots).  I'm trying to find an efficient way of dealing with them.  I've got a nice burning lava pit for goblins, but apparently they're immune to lava.   :(  Anyone know of anything else fun to do with them?

DF Gameplay Questions / Leather Armor Differences

Looking at the custom embark gear screen, I noticed there's a variety of different priced leather armors.  Anyone know what the differences between them are?  Examples:

Cow leather armor (x1 price)
Elk leather armor (x2 price)
Leopard leather armor (x3 price)
Giant olm leather armor (x4 price)

I looked in the raws for these creatures, and I didn't see anything about special toughness, maybe it just sells for a higher price?
