I've heard sending water through a diagonal will de-salinate, but haven't tested it.

Also, one more to test:

Do fortifications actually have a chance of blocking arrows in DF2010? For both one or two thick.

Personally, the one feature I would love is the ability to re-set the Diagnosis Required flag so I don't need to re-injure dwarves to make the bad diagnoser re diagnose their shattered pinky. :)

I just had a FB grab a dorf by the arm, shake the dorf, ripping off his arm and flinging him against a wall, instantly killing him.

On cutting trees...

What about if the player designates a burrow (possibly with a specific name) and all trees within that burrow are auto-selected for cutting?

Also, I'd really like an option for automatic prepared food to go along with the nice auto-drink feature. But maybe that'll come with the xml stuff?

Had to post this one:

A great six-legged quadruped composed of snow.  It undulates rhythmically.

Six-legs on a quadruped? It's a paradoxical snowman!

DF Gameplay Questions / Aquifer Fun?
« on: August 18, 2010, 02:31:48 am »
So I've got a fort under an aquifer in the middle of a human town.  Any interesting or Fun things to do here?  I've thought about filling up their tavern with water...

To make it doubly a bug.. as far as I can tell they completely ignore your tile travel cost designations when determining the closest bed. They'd rather move through 30 squares of restricted travel zone than 31 of high traffic travel zone.

The travel cost designation only determine HOW to get to a spot, not WHICH one to use. :)  The WHICH is simply the closest radially away in 3 dimensions.

DF Gameplay Questions / Re: Using a hole as a resource chute

By set dump zone, do you mean garbage pile or pit?  Also, won't they just toss the garbage onto the square not in the hole?

The animal trapping skill/labor at the butcher will catch vermin with animal traps.  Not sure what to do with them afterwards, but it works.

DF Gameplay Questions / Pushing Goblins
« on: August 05, 2010, 03:37:03 pm »
Is there any good way to push goblins laterally?  I was thinking of putting a narrow causeway over some magma or pit or something, and having them fall into it.  I tried chaining a war dog on the causeway, hoping the goblin would "dodge" off the walkway, but the dog doesn't seem to care about the nekkid goblin running past trying to escape my dungeon.

"The pig tail fiber cloth tunic has lodged firmly in the wound."  Apparently a forest Titan ripped the shirt off the back of my woodcutter dwarf and proceeded to beat 3 dwarves to death with.

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: Elves easier to piss off?
« on: August 05, 2010, 01:38:35 pm »
On my latest fort, about 10 months after refusing to stop my burgeoning charcoal industry to the local elven chapter, a Forest Titan arrives, and proceeds to rip the shirt off of one of my woodcutters and beat 3 dwarves to death with it before it became lodged firmly in someones wound.  At this point, about 2 months had passed, and the elven caravan arrived, and the Forest Titan beat them to death before being chopped to pieces by my axedwarves.  I took that as a sign.  Not sure what kind of sign, but a sign nonetheless.
