Seems like it'd be useful enough to at least warrant an option if you have spare time.

Thanks!

This looks like yet another fine plugin.  Thank you.

I have a suggestion that I and perhaps others would find useful.  Could it be made to optionally keep stats over three different windows?  Configuring the plugin for a 10 day, a 30 day, and a 90 day window would let me see how things are trending a bit better.

Thanks for considering it!

DF Modding / Re: Help - Having some trouble with DFHack
« on: February 16, 2013, 12:49:56 pm »
From your description of the problem, it sounds like what you need to do is just extract it slightly differently.

If you open up the dfhack folder in your df directory, I'm assuming you'll see at least an SDL.dll and SDLreal.dll in there.  When dfhack is installed properly, these files will be in your df folder instead of a sub-folder.

If my assumption is correct, you should be able to remove the current dfhack folder.  Then, extract the zip again.  In the "Select a Destination and Extract Files" dialog it will default to a folder that ends in "dfhack-0.34.11-r2-Windows".  Don't use that.  Instead, point it directly to your df folder.

If you do this, then you should end up with a warning that it's going to replace SDL.dll.  That's what you want to see.

Hope this helps!

I mean letting a fortress crumble or abandoning a fortress and starting a new one, without regenerating the world.

Are you creating another fortress in the same world?  I recently had a similar problem creating a second fortress in my world, with no apparent cause recorded in the error log.  I assumed it was just that I was hitting the 2GB limit.

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: Starting skills
« on: February 12, 2013, 07:07:23 pm »
I'm trying to rely less on traps lately and more heavily on the militia.  To that end, I'm experimenting with a military-oriented load out.

I start with four dwarves with the following: Miner (1) / Fighter (4) / Wrestler (1) / Dodger (4).  Since Miner goes up quickly in soil and in the general process of delving, they become a good fallback squad with little effort.

The other three are:

Carpenter (3) / Bowyer (3) / Crossbowman (1) / Shield User (3)
Stone Crafter (3) / Mechanic (3) / Crossbowman (1) / Dodger (3)
Bone Carver (3) / Leatherworker (3) / Crossbowman (1) / Armor User (3)

It's intended to be a setup that will let me defer a metal industry and do decently with low-end armor and weapons early.

Glad I could help!

I wish I had that data.  I've often wondered about it myself.

It is not easy for me to rephrase.  It refers to other sections on the same page: "Equipping Clothing" and "Size, Permit, and layering armor."  These two sections of the page explain the game mechanics behind which pieces of clothing and armor a dwarf is allowed to wear at the same time.

The short, short way of saying it is that the quiver and backpack are subject to the same rules as armor under those sections.  Within those rules, they apply to the upper bodies of dwarfs.

I don't know if it'll work, but perhaps the dfhack command "feature"?  If I got desperate, I'd try and trigger it with reveal instead.

Sheep require the least, according do the Pasture page: http://dwarffortresswiki.org/index.php/DF2012:Pasture

Alpacas are a fine middle-of-the-road animal; not quite as small as sheep, but they don't consume as much grass as llamas.

Thanks again, zwei!  It's now working just as expected.

So, after seeing the video, I'm totally sold on the dfhack script.  I'm getting the following error:

[DFHack]# lua hack/lua/soundsense.lua
Winter has arrived on the calendar.
It has started raining.
hack/lua/soundsense.lua:111: attempt to call field 'timeout' (a nil value)
stack traceback:
        hack/lua/soundsense.lua:111: in function 'event_loop'
        hack/lua/soundsense.lua:114: in main chunk
[DFHack]#

Thanks, zwei!

Mod Releases / Re: More leather mod (real mod not asking for help)

I'm definitely interested in the ideas on how this could be balanced.  I can't come up with anything particularly good.

Does it return the same number of hides as fat, then?  6-13 hides from a dog might be a bit much for me.
