Grey langurs are actually devils that use monkey shape as an excuse to break havoc and mayhem in innocent forts. I have never before seen so many wounded citizens or killed war animals thanks to this infestation of grey langurs.

Every spring they arrive I command every single soldier out to hunt them down without mercy.

I tried that method without any positive results... ordered squad to go near enemies and cancelled the order via squad menu. Nothing.

Does this happen only when fps is low (I had 23-26 during that siege, 200 citizens + about 80 gobs), or does it bug in the early game as well?

And it allows the dwarf to slowly develop strands of internal "armour".  :P

Ohh... brilliant!

The flying ({silver arrow}) strikes the Urist in the upper body, piercing the lung but the attack is deflected by the Urist's iron arrow head!

Child soldiers and animals (especially trained for war) are no uncommon sight in my forts :P

Just curious, what's so different between old and young world when it comes to dragons? Is it just the age of that creature or....?

Well, my legendary axeman (human) did similar kind of miracle healing. He had lost his right arm previously thanks to a devilish ghost that ripped it off, and during a fight with a minotaur he bit it and carried a shield in his left hand... until he was hit in the left upper arm and the injured part collapsed into a lump of gore. An artery was opened as well.

And there he is now, wielding an axe in his left hand. It took long though, I planned to murder him thanks to constant "too injured" messages.

Rivertrapped the human city is now a barony. Everything is so low quality and people barely live so no wonder it took about 8 years. I want nobles so I can have an excuse to finish my stone castle.

I just noticed one problem in this human fort -thingy... I have 100 children and babies in my fort. No wonder why I cant keep fighting properly and why there's a constant lack of workers. Although, one kid is showing promise by sparring with soldiers...

I can only recommend to save every time you get attacked. If your militia refuses to fight back: reload... -.-
This didnt work in my case :( I only had one miracle when one soldier started to kill as ordered while rest just watched.

And then they dare to whine about "I was attacked, how horrifying...."

NO ONE'S FUCKING KILLING IT
STOP STANDING THERE AND DO SOMETHING

EDIT3: Why is that no-one wants to hit the FB? They're all hugging the FB, while repeatedly being hit by it and not retaliating.
Yep, some serious bugs in combat. They only dodge and that's it.

My two forts have reached their limits, and after 200 citizens the fps has dropped into 25. Human city Rivertrapped might continue a bit longer as it is a bit better "performance" vice. Any siege or other form of fun will probly render it into a diashow and make battle mechanics useless (if it's lag issue that military wont fight).

Do you limit the amount of citizens in your fortresses? I might try capping it to 150 next time.

What's the tool for embark screen if I want to ensure the site has iron? I'm a bit tired of constant silver/copper sites...

The first and most evil forgotten beast that I have encountered was Midil, a fire-breathing, massive one-eyed cardinal (= bird...). My first successful fortress, and my first breach into the cave was followed by critical errors and underestimating the monsters...

A part from my old (034. version) fortress Zasrimad's, "Crystaltactics'", log:

"- I have been called to the newly found cave. Miners have found blowdarts, shields and other equipments made from wood from the cave - there also seemed to be lot of corpses around, humanoids that look like ants. Small pack of scaled monsters with large claws and horns has been seen on the slopes of underground cave - miners call them "crundles".

- 1st Malachite, Mid-Summer. The 56th level has been secured and woodworkers have been sent in. Up on the surface new bird creatures have been spotted: white stork men, long legged humanoids with the head and wings of a stork. Hopefully not as annoying as those kea-humanoids.

- 21st Limestone, Early Autumn. Large sections of cavern has been secured and felling of trees is almost done. There should be enough space for trees to grow but future shows how much more cavern needs to be captured.

- 24th Limestone. Digging deeper from 56. level started. So far nothing but worthless gems. We'll try to find bituminous coal, but miners said it's usually found in sedimentary stone layers where hematite is found. That's why it was suggested that we start test mining from 6. to 8. level nearer the surface.

- 26th Limestone. Echoes of Forgotten Beast Midil were heard in the deepest cave of 56th level: a winged, one-eyed beast that breathes fire announced its arrival. This is bad because it can fly over the cliff.

- More monsters sighted in the cave: long tailed creatures called rutherers. Luckily path to that part of the cave has been secured by removing ramps.

- 4th Sandstone. Flying monster hasn't been seen in the area for a week so bravest woodcutters have entered the cave in order to collect all trees: steel industry needs more coal. Many haulers have followed their lead.

- On 9th Sandstone Midil The Forgotten Beast appeared suddenly and attacked woodcutters and wood haulers; a massacre!

A huge section of the cavern was in flames as the beast hurled balls of fire one after another. Marksdwarf Kogansárek attacked the beast, hitting it once to right lower leg. War dog that was guarding the entrance burned to death, as did soldier Leklokum and marksdwarves Rakaslór and Zasmómgoz. Smoke filled the tunnel and cave when we escaped; guards Shemsedil and Sĺkzulfesh, marksdwarf Kogansárek, mason Zimkonos and miner Dallithrith were missing after doors were locked. It wont stop the beast but mason blocked the entrance to the inner fortress in time.

One war dog charged the beast after all others fled, inflicting several minor injuries before burning to a crisp.

- 19th Sandstone - four marksdwarf squads and one infantry squad has been sent to deal with the wounded beast. Marksdwarves charged the beast, firing it with crossbows and also engaging into melee fight after the infantry squad. A strike to beast's lungs spilled boiling blood all over the beast, but also over nearby dwarves. Marksdwarves Atírnikuz and Lasgantobul burned to death. Bimegdoth, militia captain of the Mansions of Light, perished to his wounds. Other dwarves received horrible injuries while fighting the beast - fire burned the head of Rakustkesh, the militia captain of the 5th marksdwarf squad.

When day turned to new the beast was dead; finishing blow was given by the famous marksdwarf Ňdadónul Zocukoddom Deler. Bodies of five missing dwarves were never found, only a few tools they had dropped while escaping. Their tombs will stay empty so memorials were build for them."

Might be a dwarven design thread, but I'll smuggle my human town design here... not pretty (ugh those different wood colours and when I designed buildings I accidentally made them too big) but hardy veteran metropolis that has endured many sieges and weremammoth encounters. I liked building this. Each building is dedicated to some purpose, be it tanners, butchers, craftsmen and so on. On the far left you can see tombs, graveyard (memorial slabs) and building leading into the catacombs. South from the walls is the foundation of a stone castle (for evacuation, as it's hard to defend this place since enemies tend to climb over the walls. I had to move farming fields inside the walls thanks to enemy activity.

Almost lost my fort to "military-doesnt-fight" bug, as all my soldiers just stood there in the middle of horde and started to sleep. One hammer lord saved the day, as enemy swordman woke her up by hitting her helmet about 20 times without any effect... for some reason this hammer lord wasnt trapped to this bug anymore and she beat the hell out of nearby enemies. Rest fled...

I have a situation where I lose all my soldiers to this bug if I dont reload "save". My 30 elites against 70 enemies, it should be a piece of cake.

No one attacks the enemy, they just stand there until they fall asleep and then they're butchered. This is the no 1 game breaking bug I have encountered so far.

Moving them around wont help.
No civilian alert / civilian alert = no effect
Kill order = no effect

Really frustrating.
