I'd start a fort and play a year, maybe telling the other people about events as they occur.
Then, after a set amount of time, pass on the fort to the next player.
Rinse.
Repeat.

The embark is a big valley running bottom left to top right with a river separating the left and right with our base on the right. Not sure how big it is, assuming 4x4.
