You know, eventually people will be able to get their brains transplanted into fresh young bodies and then you can technically have pedophilia with consent.

Can I do a /discussion with this?  Because browsing the last few pages has been pretty cringey.

My avatar is from a cartoon short by Bill Plympton (amazing cartoonist, freaking AMAZING.)

Oh, and then there was the Descan thread and it got descanized... and then there was a hugs for Vector thread and well, hugs for Vector happened.

Hah, that's cool. Alas, it seems that i didn't nail the resolution correctly; should probably have made it 32x32 if the resizing is to be believed. Fortunately, a quick googling reveals this thing to me, and therefore can we have snekcursor that doesn't get resized!! (and also has 4 tweaked pixels so the actual pointer is more easily seen)
I am not at all sure if swordsnaek himself should have an outline or not, because on one hand, he sometimes blends into the background, but on the other, swordsnaek's just there for flavour, and a violent black outline might make him stand out too much. Oh well. :U

Well, cursor.cc is nice, but you know, you can actually have cursors up to 256x256... if you know the format (and want giant cursors).  I could see a giant, animated monstrosity cursor thats not really useful at all... and it would be glorious.

Edit: hrmm, maybe not.  Trying a few things first... maybe I can figure it out.  I know you can have 256x256 icons anyway.

Edit2: oooh, I see some voodoo that might work.  Would need to write a program to go around the windows cursor setting... or download CursorFX for 10 bucks, but it could be done.

Edit3: and maybe a way to do so thru autohotkey! https://autohotkey.com/board/topic/32608-changing-the-system-cursor/

How do you make that work, anyway?
Win10 says there isn't a default program...

Go to the mouse config (should be able to just search for 'mouse') and it'll come up with something like 'change how the mouse looks' or something like that. Then you click on the specific thing and set the .cur for that specific action*, then save the profile/apply/whatever to make sure it keeps.

*theres actually a ton of cursor thingies for different things.  Obviously, we need a full Shook set.

now look at what you made me do

Oooh, awesome, saves me the trouble of making one myself (though I did figure out the ICO file format in the meantime, was starting to look into ANI for animated cursors).

Heres it converted to a .cur

What type of game is it going to be? 2d or 3d?  PC release or targeting consoles/handhelds/phones?  Any input limits(mouse, keyboard, controller, etc)?  What is it going to be programmed in - Unity? C? Html5?

Kinda need to know some basic things beforehand, otherwise some way out of scope things might be suggested.

The best way to learn is to make something.  And not something insane, something like a mini-text rpg with dice rolling and input/output, etc.  Yes, this is simple, it doesn't have to be Cataclysm.

Theres definitely merit in following tutorials or reading a book all the way thru, but IMO: get your basic setup done, figure out what you want to do, then start doing it and learning all the actual references you need to look up.  You will run into roadblocks, sure, but you can get past them.   Your drive to complete the project will help, instead of just doing checkmarks and saying 'I read 5 pages today' or 'I did the exercise section' or whatever.

Past that, you can just keep making stuff all the way up, and maybe getting some use of what you make too, instead of just dumb tutorial projects.

We need a new, hip name for this tougher than diamond carbon, because Q-carbon is lame.  Thoughts?

Alas, I still cannot purchase from GOG. Limited research suggests that it's because US banks don't like the EU.

You more or less have to specifically call your bank and get your card temp unlocked in order to buy anything overseas: I had to do it before to just buy a bundle.

So basically, your boss asked you to commit a felony so that if someone gets caught its your fault and not the companies?  Sounds about right.

Still trying to decide if spambot. OP is rather vague and non-forum specific.

Just wait till the kitchens get mentioned.

Its a pretty large community, and some people are less regular than others, pretty hard to poke everyone.  Of course, given this community, I don't think 'regular' is a word that could be used to describe it well *looks at last couple of pages of this thread*

For not existing, they certainly got plenty of crowdfunded cash and lots of people with sunk costs into a 'next gen space game'.

More or less, Infinity has the best looking planet/planetscapes in the business.  However, they are rapidly being caught up on, and they should have kickstarted a long... LOOONG time ago.  Like, preferably before Star Citizen happened, which beat them to the punch.

That said, Battlescape isn't quite the original Infinity: Quest for Earth that was pitched years ago.  They are more or less doing a smaller game (arena shooter thing)  because the big game is kinda insane and they need to polish the engine anyway and hopefully finally actually get paid to work on their thing so they can work on it more.
