 You know, it's been a while since I've had a break. Now that most of the mingrant rooms are smoothed, and the second dining room is mostly smoothed, and we don't have any gems to cut... I'll take a break right now.

Early in the season someone named Zas Basementperplexed came to me saying she wanted to be one of the nobles. After figuring out what she was talking about (the people with the bigger rooms), I told her the requirement of choosing an important job and a nickname. "call me Zol" she said. Whatever, Zol it is. "And I want to be a chef". what... really? OK then lazybones. For some reason she just rubs me the wrong way. Honestly though it doesn't matter. We got a free room, and I'll probably rarely ever see her. She won't get off too easy though, I also ordered a special kitchen from black bronze made just for her. She's going to be cooking a lot I'd reckon.

What else. well, we butched (by recommendation, I forget from who) the water buffalo calfs. I think it had somethign to do with grass. I drank some mead recently, that wasn't bad. And then I just lied aorund in my little personal palace of a room. It was a pretty good season.

Ah, that was a much better season. I designed a bunch of pillars for the main staircase, and Flamestrider went right to work putting them all up. I'm quite proud of how they're set up. It makes me think about building some more up top, and maybe starting some sort of tower. I'll have to get permission though, as we'll need more stone then we currently have mined. Or maybe I can use some glass blocks - I haven't worked with much glass before. That being said, the glass window in my room is pretty shiny.

Still busy using burnt dead trees for the benefit of melting rocks and making weapons. Heh, it's fun when I think about it that way. It's like a big "nananana" to the elves. You are effectively selling us the slaves of our own production. it's fair too, since galena and silver maces are better than those silly logs anyways.

Mrwillsauce has been talking upt a stome recently about a high demand for glass jugs. I didn't know you could make glass jugs. He's been making a bunch of them recently though, melting sand and such. It's actually competing with my charcoal use. OK, we got a fair amount of charcoal, but it's competing in theory.

 We finished most of the designated smoothing areas now. We have a bit more to do still,b ut it shouldn't be long before we're looking for new work. I don't even know what it's like to not work. What would I do? I suppose I could see Amariithynar again - I've been to busy to talk to her much in the last year. Or maybe they'll figure out that there is more to keepign this fort alive, and they'll call on me again. Who knows.

Lots of green glass jugs available now! I've been pushing the honey out of the huge stockpile of backed up honeycomb we have sitting around, and turning it into mead. I'm pretty sure they're still not cooking the royal jelly, but now that we got a basically infinite supply of glass jugs I can probably sell those off at some point. The mead, by design, comes a bit slowly. But I bet the others are really happy to not be drinking so much mushroom wine once in a while.

Clothes-making for me! I've made quite a few things recently - not least of which are those bags that are being used for sand now. MrWillsauce has been doing a pretty good job of making those glass jugs too. On my front, that has meant more wax just lying around. Wax lying around gets turned into wax crafts.

It's been fun to play with wax! I haven't done that before. I have a wax sceptor, a wax bracelet, a wax ring, a wax figurine of MrsWillsauce (i think she'll like that). It relates to the career change from basic metalsmith to weaponsmith in midwinter of 130.

 OK, this is really starting to piss me off. I've been out here for what seems like forever just sparring. Granted, we had another satisifying sparring session recently, and granted the room is still like a personal little palace for me, but seriously how long are they going to have be doing this with no break?

Probably forever honestly. As long as the sparring is good, and I'm holding true to a good tradition (one of the only ones in the fort), I'll probably still be happy. It's not bad working here.

hah, it worked! I saw all those nobles living it large up in those special rooms, and you know what I did? I went right up to the manager and said I wanted one of those rooms! he gave it to me too, and even calls me by my proper name "Zol". heh, I like it. Best part? I don't even have to change my job much - I just have to cook food once in a while. Heck, he even gave me my own kitchen made of black bronze to work with!

This is the life though. Me and my husband and my kid living like a king. A legendary dining room, an easy and fun job, a bedroom like a palace... it's awesome. They also started making these fine supports right up the stairway, and I gotta say they did a nice job.

 The outpost liaison is here, which means the caravan is as well. I ask around to see where Amariithynar is, and apparently she's off dodging again. That silly dwarf, you can't do your individual drills when there is work to be done! I've sent someone to tell her that his armor stand is no longer a fit place for her to drill, and hopefully that will send her off.

The fort is coming along very nicely though. We ran out of useable slate to work with in making dining tables, so I'll have to dig out more. where to dig though? I first dug out quite a few new rooms in case our fort decides it wants more migrants. I also dug out an area in the mayor's level for... I don't know what yet. My thinking is it'll probably be used for coffins at some point. In the meantime though we'll put a couple of doors and a window on it.

oh, the mayor has a window and 2 doors for each of her rooms now. We had to rework the fronts to allow this, so now her doors are offcenter, and attached to a slate block wall instead of just a smoothed wall. I assure her that this is stronger anyways.

Our upper dining room is now competely smooth speaking of which. The next smoothign target is the migrant rooms, after which we'll do the bottom dining room. So much work though, who knows if we'll get it done. Then of course I have to dig out some more stone for Flamestrider to carve, adn then I need some free time to encrust more things with gems. If only I could show pictures of my work, I think anyone would be proud. One of the slate doors Flamestrider made is now encircled with milk quartz and spikes of green tourmaline and finely-crafted green glass. We now have an anvil with green tourmaline larches and circles of green glass. Every piece of stray furniture is going to be beautified at some point.

 In my boredom I've decided to recount the stockpiles of the fort. Sure, it hasn't changed any since the last time I counted, but I had to be sure. I was asked to relax a bit on those, so I ended up heading up to do some combat drills. I gotta keep busy! Besides, a few weaves and dodges in the snow are good for the body.

 They've been busy smoothing out yet more stone. Seriously, how do they expect us to sleep with all this ruckus going on? Well, apparently pretty well considering how amazing our bedrooms are. Anyways, recently I've been doing nothing but smelting Galena. There is a lot of it around here, and darn it, it all should be smelted.

MrWillsauce is living the high life right now too. he has a more relaxed schedule of making glass windows and gems, and just socializing. I told him that we should really find more time to pay attention to Kadol LittleWillsauce, as he adopted yet another cat recently. Seriously, those cats are getting everywhere. Yes, we know he likes cats, but there has to be some reasonableness to this. He doesn't need 10! I try to give him some slack though, as I know he's having problems with that Asmel fella. It's silly, I know, but I think he's afraid of asmel's looks. I mean, why else would you have a grudge with a 50 year old?

Smothing stone, running out of stone to make tables, more smoothing stone, and a bit of being outside. going outside was a msitake though. The sun is extra bright when you also got a snow storm. I feel nauseated now.

 Well, I finally figured out how to make meed! I don't know if I'll be able to accomplish it again, but I at least did it once! Now, I keep misplacing my honeycomb, so that's my new project. Find out where poeple are putting all my honeycomb, 'cus I can't make meed without it.

 always busy around here I say. And it's still true. Well, mostly true, we hit a soft spot again. Right now we're out of stone, mostly out of thread for weaving, out of leather, and... actually I don't know if we have any bones to carve. I'll check on that after my break. We can always use new bone bolts.

 We've started sparring recently, which means we're getting pretty adequate with our axes. It's very satisfying to do so, even if we were put on another REALLY long patrol duty.

Is this what we need to do in order to get treated well around here? it doesn't seem so as I think I'm the only one that honors this traditional practice. I see Amariithynar just dancing around by herself, and I see all these other dwarves just acting like nobles - fools in other words. I don't see what most of them are doing day to day back here, but I'm sure they're not practicing a proper dwarvish practice like myself and Zon.

I got to negotiate with the elves last season. Amariithynar apparently never realized they were there. People said she was off practicing her dodging or some such. Oh well, I got to negotiate and that was fun. We got wood (of course) along with some... oh darn I forgot what else we got. We did get some strawberries - which was made into probably the best wine I've had in years.

We're still having a problem of not enough chairs in the dining room. I'll fix that at some point. In the meantime I've asked Flamestrider to join me in smoothing out the floors.

With all the stone smoothing I haven't been sleeping very well recently. I know it'll make things more valuable (and yay for increased fort value), but really they should do it at more scheduled times.

I did just negotiate with the humans up top for some nice things. We're running low on sellable materials, for which I should tell Malimbar about. I think he's pretty distracted though. Sometimes you need to run a fort from the background instead of cutting all these little glass gems and smoothing stone. Let someone else do that.

The clothes I'm wearing are starting to get a bit worn, and that's pretty depressing. We really should make some more mittens, cloaks, globs, hoods, and the like. That being said, I'm loving my llama wool socks and water buffalo shoes. They're really nice.

Both myself and MrWillsauce have been busy at our jobs recently. I've been smelting Galena all the time, and he's been making glass windows and gems for everyone. OK, not everyone, but at least the important people. Soon our mayor will have windows in his offices! Of course the windows will look straight out at a rock wall or something - but that's just because there isn't room by our staircase. It's not our fault that's what the mayor's offices are based on!

Did I call it journal? yes I did. We've been smoothing stone basically all season. We made a fair dent in teh dining rooms too. they're not close to finished, but they're closer than they were. Once again, the fort's beautification is done by the hard work of the few. We, the few, the proud, the single guy holding this fort up. OK, Malimbar helped smooth some of it, but the guy keeps walking off saying something about some other meaningless project he has going on.

Life is still pretty high over in Gusiltolun. I talked to another one of the dogs, and I've once again been socializing.I'm a bit tired of the booze, but I'm sleeping like a king here. Can't complain.

I finally got a good look on the window they installed in my room. It's pretty nice! After I exhausted our leather supply I went to work on the clothing. We don't have a whole lot to spare still, but they assure me the pig tail farming has ramped up from what it was. We also moved the weaving and clothing stations, put them on smooth floors, and remade them out of lead bars. it's a higher quality than the slate we were using, and apparently we have lots of it lying around. I'm not complaining at higher quality!

They're having a party in the upper dining room right now, and I plant to head on over there after this entry. The place is loooking quite a bit better! It's not about 2/3 smoothed out on the floor, and they have a good supply of booze lying around. I particularly like the Galena thread that's going though half the floor.

I'm still a novice at the axedwarfing, but I can't really be the subject of any criticism on that. No one else here knows jack about handling an axe I'm vaguely sure.

And the way they treat some of us dwarves is amazing. You should see the door on my bedroom! it really compliments the window I have. Heck, this place is like a personal palace really.

I'm still pretty content here, but things are starting to go wrong. My clothes haven't been changed in months and are starting to wear down. We briefly ran out of food, and I had to order several war dogs butchered. And for some reason I still couldn't find a place to sit at dinner!

Apparently the head craftsdwarf has taken up all the crafts, so I feel a bit guilty about that. I've instead been spending my own time smoothing, managing, and cutting some glass gems. I've thus ordered several new tables and chairs made, a few new farms set up, and more plants to be grown both for food and for pigtails.

I know, as one of the first migrants, that my clothes are among the oldest. I worry then how the rest of the fort will act later, as their clothes start falling along the same path. Perhaps it's time for me to refocus a bit.

There are holes in my silk shoes, and most of my clothes are starting to wear down to the point that you can see the frayed threads. Even my excellent water buffalo leather dress I purchased is showing a good deal of wear. The pond muck root turtle shell was chipped. The turkey bone forgotten beast had a loose turkey bone.

There is not much else to say. I'm a bit better of an archer. I purchased a good deal of metal, wood, and cloth from the outpost. I did try to push my appraising luck a bit, so I had to get less cloth than I originally offered. heh, in the end it was a very profitable trade for both groups. Those silver warhammers sold like crazy.

By my most recent calculations, the fort is up to a value of 93000, with are largest value being in architecture. I take some credit for that. The next largest is probably furniture (we have a lot of nice stone tables and chairs), but that competes with our weapon industry pretty well. All things considered, that's not bad. However, we have been running low on drink and food recently. And that problem went all the way back to the plants themselves. Apparently are very large group of farmers have not been doing their job.

I was given a note recently under my room door. Apparently the broker has made a huge profit off of my silver war hammers. MrWillsauce has been busy making windows recently too. Green glass windows are now in 6 of the rooms, and I think it's fair to say we'll get more soon. He keeps keeping me up at night talking about how excited he. It's amazing how he's so enthusiastic about... everything.

It's so bright outside, and the clothes are starting to reject it I think. I just got a hole in my cap, and the rest of the clothes are about on the same level. I do got some nice wool socks, a new dress, and some trousers, but my cap I was a bit of a shock. I keep telling people we shouldn't be wearing clothes outside - it's not good for them. Sure, working outside is great, but that sun causes havok on the pigtails.

Otherwise, just as busy as ever. Lots of new chairs and tables are ordered, and smoothing stone takes forever. It's getting awesome here.

 It's just so nice here. I know I'm not very useful, but that's alright. It's very very nice here, and I'm treated well. The bees aren't doing much right now.  I have 3 hives reserved for spslitting, though I'm wondering how that works now. I think I might harvest the honey in all to see how this works.

 Recently I've been busy making rock pots and rock jugs. I'm not sure we need this many honestly, but the management has ideas for them apparently. I think. I'm never sure what management is thinking. Because of the butchering of dogs recently I'm wililng to bet that they'll have me crafting bone bolts soon too, and who knows if I'll be able to get to the clothing problem before people complain.

I just hope I don't go into a mood of procrastination, 'cus then none of this will get done.

I've been the subject of a prank. Someone came up to me and said that I needed to talk to the manager about something. Well, in the time of looking for his office, I ended up in the room of the record keeper. Ama something. Amariithynar I think it was. Or something like it. She said it that it was likely it was just a prank. When I told her when they told me, She called me "sloth". Oh well, I'll roll with that.

Sigh, I blame Deduk Morulasob. That know I swear has it out for me. I'm going to fricken get her bac. Amariithynar suggested I join the military. We discussed how to go about that, and she told me how she just trains when it's convenient. She told me how Malimbar doesn't really remember who's where, so she just changed the records to have me in my own military squad. I picked out an axe, and now I'm training.

Then I get a note later that apparently I also have to move. They have special rooms for people with nicknames. Nickname? yup, now they call me Sloth. Oh well, I got my axe, they can't stop me now. And the new room is amazing.

 It was weird this last month. the outpost Liaison came, and didn't have a meeting with me. Instead, they met with the new Mayor. You know what though? it's alright. I coudl have used the break in one of my jobs, and I still got too many. So busy all the time! Recently it's been a problem still to smooth all the rooms. That job will probably last the next few years. In spare time I've started encrusting more things with glass gems. Oh right, we got glass being made now. It's been an oversight for I don't know how long, but now that one person is making glass. Forget who, but I put the order up and now I seem to have a glass supply. We're even getting windows in our room soon I hear. Not every dwarves room of course, by a few people.

The smoothing work is still keeping me awake most nights - it's so loud. But for one little thing I can't complain too much. The humans gave us a bunch of wood and a bit of other stuff that's not important. After trading some cloth, I found out that we have silver warhammers, and a lot of them. Those things are valuable too, and we got a whole fricken 44 of them even after I sold a few. I see a good future for our fort's economy. Apparently it's from home-smelted galena too!

 MrWillsauce has been even happier recently - he's actually had work to do. His fresh polished glass furnace (he told me what it's called) is not busy collecting sand and turning it into green glass.

When I was above ground (wow that was bright) I also noticed that someone put some fancy restraints near the entrance. Each was holding a war dog. Good choices I would say.

Apparently it was a good choice to make silver war hammers as well, as they sold a few already. Good.

 Sol busy. Can't write long 'cus I got work to do smoothing rooms and such. That, and they really should get some new booze. I've had WAY too much wine recently, and not nearly enough of... anything else. Oh well. Time to get back to work.

Sometimes I feel like I'm just one of the farmers. Sure, I don't have to actually plant the spores, but I spend so much of my time just brewing. I'm not very good at it even now, and the stills are usually taken by the other farmers. If I could make meed this wouldn't be a problem, I'd have the market covered.

But you know what? Those are some good people. and I gotta say I have the best living conditions among them - a huge room with beds and fantastic doors. Plus I get my bees. We're up to 12 hives now going strong, and we could easily make more. i'm trying to argue now that it'll help the farming industry, as bees pollinate things. I'm not very successful in that... yet.

Busy busy again! now I'm switching to making rock pots for a while. I also made some bolts, and I wove some cloth, and I made a new backpack. but right now I'm making pots. Why? because apparently all the wood they're using to make charcoal. I told them that rock pots would be longer-lasting than barrels anyways, and apparently they didn't need much convincing. Apparently everyone wants more booze.
