DF Community Games & Stories / Re: Legend of BoozeWeiser!

Have you considered uploading images along with the story?

Your best bet would be to post in it creative projects/other games. You'd probably be able to get a lot of constructive advice from creative projects because occasionally someone making a game posts a topic there, and they usually drum up alot of interest. Although I won't lie, the comments will come in at a slower pace since there's less people who frequent that sub-forum.

((OOC: Is it a floating island or a regular island?))
I apologize if it wasn't clear, but yes, it's a floating island, drifting through space.

Can gods collaborate? If yes, does anyone want to do so with me to create dragons?

Unfortunately you can't pool your points together. But that doesn't mean you can't work with someone to make the perfect enviorment for the dragons, while you gather points to make the dragons. Or that they can't create a subrace of your dragons later on

Can I still join?
If I can,
Name: Jorela
God Type: Standard
God's Affinity: Women, fillies, and mares.
Description: Jorela appears as a woman of West African descent, in the clothes of a farmer, and pitchfork. She loves animals, and mainly produces fields, and also is important in fertility.
.
Sorry, I didn't make the map quite that big. I can put you on a waitlist, but nine players is just about the right ammount.
Actually, if no one objects I'll add you next round, the more the merrier

Sol
"Let us be silent, that we may hear the whispers of the gods." -Ralph Waldo Emerson

Red light glares across the sandy wastes, edges dipping off into the abyss of space. Here, floating around Helios the red giant lies Sol, a floating island of waste quite unlike any other. Not a spec life roaming the barren surface, only movement being the flecks of sand as they were torn about by harsh solar wind. Very little sound could be heard, only the comforting cackle of wind across the empty floating island.

Suddenly a burst of intense white light ignited the sky. Before it had even faded more flashes sparked into life, erupting across space. Different hues and tones as the atmosphere became a beautiful chaos of colors and light. But there seemed to be a pattern, they came closer and closer to Sol, for some inexplicable reason power was being drawn here.

Sol would soon have a new name: Playground of Gods.

I don't see a reason why we can't have a 9th person, so you're in.

It's mostly for flavor, I don't want to divulge to far from the core rules, also it gives people a little more options for how they can react to a situation. My thought process is that as otherworldly powerful beings, you should be able to do what you wish with the power you have.

What and why?
So, I've wanted to try Dawn of Worlds for awhile now. The concept is simple: it's a world generation game, you play as gods and shape a world, civilizations, and history. But the cool part is that after you've done so, you can use the world you generated for other games, or as history and back lore for literature. It's a pretty thrilling concept.

Here's the full rulebook: http://www.clanwebsite.org/games/rpg/Dawn_of_Worlds_game_1_0Final.pdf

So how do you play?:
The rounds starts out by rolling two dice for each player, these are your points. You can then choose to either spend those points that round, or wait and stockpile all or some of your points to spend on another round. World generation is divided into three ages, each with a set limit on number of rounds that can be played before going into the next age. With each age the cost to perform different actions changes, making it either more feasible to create land, races, or civilizations.

Your goal is to control more of the world then anyone else at the end of the game, through subterfuge, brute force, alliances, or whatever means
Or you know, to cause as much fun as you can for everyone else

Here's the power table:

Seems fun, I'd like to play
Awesome!, just fill out this information sheet, and I'll add you to the active player list. Once we have 6-8 players, I'll upload the empty map and we'll start playing.

To spice things up, we'll add god types, and configure the rolling system to change based on what type of god you are
Standard : Highest two dice out of three rolled.
Eldritch : Two dice + 2 points
Celestial : One dice + 5 points
Fiend: Three dice - 4 points

Code: [Select]
Name:
God Type:
God's Affinity: (Fire, life, death, clocks, whatever you want really. You can be the god of cookies and space if you so desire.)
Description:

So wait, how will rounds work?

At the start of the round I'll roll for your points and update the map.
You'll have three days to respond after the start of the round before it ends. If you don't say anything, your points will just be accumulated.

We'll be playing with a small map and a decent amount of players, so the ages will go as follows:
Age 1 ends after round 5
Age 2 ends after round 10
Age 3 ends after round 16

Hey can I be put on the waiting list? It seems like fun, and you still got a lot of aspects to collect before you can win

Name: Benny
Color: green with purple glow

I'm a the Non-denominational Buddhist, hi there everybody.
Hi! You aren't an atheist so I think you're cool. ^-^

Hi!, I think you're cool too!

The logic that that one's poking fun at always scares me a little, the thought that there are potentially thousands or even millions of people who only act more-or-less ethically because they think their god will smite them if they don't, rather than because acting ethically is inherently the correct way to live life.

Yep, my main problem with religion, and also human nature, but (mostly western/abrahamic) religion as a manifestation of that.

I also had this problem with Christianity, specifically. A lot of it is based off fear of what's going to happen when you die, and being good to avoid hell. I don't think you should need a threat like damnation in order to be kind and good. Also, some other specific things to do with god that I'm not going to get into. That's why I couldn't really agree with Christianity, because it didn't sit right with me.

Don't think much has changed, I've been a casual player of late, so I suppose I'm not the best one to answer this question. I suppose everyone's waiting for the next update.
