Before I say anything, Im not a screenshot edity person. I just post the bloody things.

First, this is a Story. Not a Succession Game.
And this is in Masterwork Dwarf Fortress.

Welcome one and all, to Semorner Necatition Ushesh- The Fortress where people suffer, die, burn, and Armok knows what else in between.
Also known as Unitedlake The Chain-Hall Of Imprisonment.
This is a Temperate Savannah, in the World known as Paperequal!

I speak often of My love of torment fuelled Prisons in Dwarf Fortress, so I figure, build one! And make a Story out of it.
What could POSSIBLY go wrong!
So, theres some goals and rules.

Rules are:
I wont be cheating.
I wont be turtling up too much.
I wont be going to hell.
Goals are:
1;
Build a functioning Prison, with the following:
Cell Blocks
Torture Chambers
Execution Chambers
Guard Barracks
Non-Prison Personell Township In A Different Area To The Prison
A Way To Put Any Dwarf I Choose Into The Prison
2;
Build a functioning Township, with the following:
Self Sustained Food And Water Supply
Multi-Level Apartment Style Housing (Underground)
Surface Level Indoor Trading Outpost
Wall Surrounding Entire Fortress, With Only One Way In Or Out (Save for flying), And Lever Controls On The Inside Of The Management Structure
3;
Build a Management Structure, with the following:
Housing and Offices and a Dining Hall for Nobles
4;
A unique role for EVERY CHARACTER, so that They have Identity

Everything else, Ill figure out as I go along.
There will be mostly Screenshot and Journal based updates. Occassionally I plan to record videos instead, depending on whats being recorded.
This will be told from the perspective of an Overseer named Tarek, not directly present in the game, running the Prison.
He keeps a Journal, and sketches the notable events and progress of the day into it. If Im not lazy, Ill even make it look convincing :)
I may also have to 'enhance' certain occurances, like a tunnel being dug, to make the otherwise unremarkable stuff interesting.

The other Characters Ill figure out as I go along, and I am more than happy to add a bit of community interaction.
If someone would fancy a Character named after Them, Im certainly glad to do so.
Personalities of Your choosing can be applied as well, though theres no guarantee that that character will ever be more than a casual worker.

Without further mucking around with Rules and Goals and all that junk, lets roll.
Our Group is called Akamaban, The Fortunate Construct.

Oh, one last thing.
I dont plan on being nice to anything that isnt a Dwarf.

---

Current Dwarves:
Ablel Reksasaned
Banik Ngalakasmel
Besmar Lurudar
Borik Kutamustuth
Dumed Kabthikut
Lish Tholtigetol
Zamnuth Idostath

Note to self: Imprison Besmar as soon as possible for being a self entitled sniveling whiner.

Chapter 1:

Entry 1;

We have arrived, after many days travel. And its about damn time. We are running low on food. Or at least, food that isnt destined for the farms.
We stood along a sheer cliff face, overlooking a river, down below. Apparently, This is to be the site of Semorner. Remarkable!
I can see where the Lords were coming from, but This shall not be some easy labor.
Bridges, between the two cliffsides down below, connecting the districts and sections.
Blocks of small 2x2 rooms, organised in a perfect grid.
A storage facility...

But if all goes according to the Design Briefing, This will be a wonderous construct.
And I am greatly honored to be the one assigned to lead the project, through better or worse.
We shall get to work at once.
But the cliffside also looks a tad dangerous. We ought be cautious, and safe. Because that fall would not be enough to kill.
And there are worse fates than death.
I wonder if We could institute a system wherein We could dump captives down the cliff...

Entry 2;

The Terrain offers some natural defenses. This place will not be hard to fortify, when the time comes.
I believe We shall have windows, overlooking the cliff. This should make for a visually pleasing sight for the work force.

The first central stairway has been designated, as well as the trees to be cut down for material.
The first port of call will be the Storage Facility, followed by the Work Force District and the Farming District.
We also need to get the Water Supply up and running, but that will happen one way or another.
This may take some time, but such things are imperative if a Prison facility is to survive.

We have also bridged over a river, leading to a waterfall.
Some of Us also seem to have run into some cobwebs between some trees. Disgusting, that silken crap. But likely left by some long dead Titan.

Entry 3;

Stupid. Its stupid. Our Storage area is being improved upon, slightly, due to an unforseen hinderance involving a stupid lake, in an inconvenient location.
It should be fine.

Weve picked up some Obsidian, someplace. This will be excellent for the Workshops. Work is coming along nicely, albeit limited by the scope of Our workforce.
Designations have been made, and work is underway!

The Perimeter Walls will be next. Im contemplating whether to build the interior wall out of wood, or stone. Same for the exterior.
If the interior is stone, itll be harder for Captives to escape, and easier for future Captives to get captured.
But a strong exterior will mean that if We are overwhelmed, We can barricade Ourselves in pretty righteously.
Decisions decisions. Probably followed by more damn decisions. I need to get back to work.

Entry 4;

The Winter is ending, and the snow is clearing up nicely. Hopefully it rains in these parts.
The workshops are nearly done, and already we are producing the means to expand into a residential area.

The apartments have been designated, and beds are being fashioned. The water supply is also coming along.
A publican has also, by popular demand, been instigated. Im unsure of how much use I shall allow of it however.

That reminds Me of this fucking stupid dwarf, who wouldnt get out of the reservoir when I wanted to flood it. "Dumed Kabthikut".
He shall be the second to be imprisoned. That is, if I dont kill the snivelling idiot first.
Its a shame Hed rot the reservoir.

Entry 5;

Reservoir flooded. Idiot flushed out. Alls good.
The water supply is incidentally complete. We will soon require a Hospital.

Also, Borik the Expedition Leader punched a Playpus.
The Wall is underway, and will soon be finished. Residential is next.

Entry 6;

Its been a long day. I should be writing a more thorough account, but My work keeps Me busy.

The Walls are complete! At long last. The interior walls, anyway. There is still alot of work and construction to be done, but it is a start.

The first residences are also complete, as I shall depict here:

We shall smoothe the current walls before We proceed. It has been strenuous, but the Township is well on its way to completion.
Just look at the Workshops!

Soon, the second perimeter and the Prison itself shall get underway. How exciting!
Also, Ablel is sleeping in a barrel. Oh, and the barrel is on the floor in a hallway. He was carrying it, when He decided to have a nap on top of it, the bum.

Feedback is appreciated.
I also had to trim out some stuff, because I want the Journal to, right now, sound rushed, to reflect the fact that building the town should be a higher priority than logging ones thoughts.

This will become a whole lot better when it starts being less about building the Fort, and more about what goes on within it. Believe Me.

    MARKEDANGELS

    WHERE YOUR HOPES AND DREAMS
    COME TO GET CRUSHED

My Brain has reminded Me to say; V0.34.11 Vanilla.

Ive been meaning to do this for a long time, but never reallly got around to it.
Now, I have a few Weeks off, so I figure its a perfect time to start this!

Our Story begins, but it begun some time ago.
From the Homeland of Poshiapsong, where Dwarves once ruled supreme, a Dwarf by the name of Dementyev, dug a slight bit too deeply unto the Earth.
And from the Earth, came Entities of Anger, Rage and Hatred.
And soon, everything that was once Dwarvern Masterwork, was crippled and ruined. Torn to tatters, burnt asunder, and spat out. And finally left to rot. An Island, once glorious, soon to be Forgotten.

    That is, soon to be.
    But not just yet.
    Not. Just. Yet.

Bagsnubslozgo Kusnath. An Island, far West of the Dwarvern Homeland, was ignorant of the events in Poshiapsong. But they were far from safe.
See, this Hole, was no ordinary Hole. Much was released from that place, far beneath the Earth.
And the very energy of it spread, far and wide.
But this Island, was the closest.
And this, is the Crew of the Icon of Artifices. A Dwarvern Trade Ship.
When the Hole was opened, a few Noblemen and Shipwrights were able to get aboard this Ship, and set sail, unsure of their destination.
Far, and long They sailed. Many perished, starved or ill. Some dehydrated, some went insane.
    Few survived.
    But some did.
The remnants of the formerly brilliant Civilization.
But it wasnt over. A storm struck the Eastern Seaboard, and the Ship was damaged beyond repair.
The Dwarves grabbed what They could, and swam toward the shore. Several still, perished.
Now broken and battered, what few Survivors remained clambered onto the Beachfront.
But this was no welcoming place.

But here, in the Beginning, the Dwarves would seek shelter.
Welcome, to Lisedsedil Arel Thunen. Markedangels, The Water Of Living.
You are Citizens of Sodel Atham. The Shields Of Focus.

Strike The Earth. And Strike It Fast.

    Rules are pretty standard.

You can be Dwarfed, and/or chime in for a Turn.
    A Turn is One Year.
    Cheating is not permitted.
I am going to note right now, that this is going to be may be somewhat difficult. I have made this situation to force You to do certain things in ways one wouldnt in a, how shall We say, more Normal Fort.
Of course, it isnt as hard as it could be. But on a scale of 1-10, 10 being Suicide, I estimate this SHOULD be a 7. Or something. If it isnt, Ill damn well make it a 7.
Lastly, be the Awesome Community You already are.

Oh, and I have absolutely no intention of announcing in advance just what kinda spot We get to start in. You will see!

    So, without further ado...

And this will be the Lists.
Assuming some folks hopefully bite this chewy delicious morsel This List will grow!

Inspired by Recent Threads, I realised Ive never actually given even an inkling of how I make My Forts.

    A Mention to Anatoli:

Anatoli was the first Mayor. He killed many Merchants, caused the Death of a Forgotten Beast, Engraved many Walls, Broke a Named Giant Cockatel in half, various other things. Then some dude named Drevin Murdered Him. Then He was beaten 150 times with a Hammer and locked in a Drowning Room.

    So... Any Questions?
I hope the Images are clear enough.

Im interested to hear some Opinions.
Oh, and by the way: It Rains Blood into the Water Supply. My Dwarves Drink Blood.

And also, I know there needs to be more Alchohol, and that Im an evil evil Overseer, but I couldnt be arsed setting up a reliable Alchohol Supply right now.

*Star Marked Text may be utter bullshit.

DF Adventure Mode Discussion / Attack of the Demigod Kittens (And a Duck)
    « on: February 14, 2012, 10:24:09 pm »
So, recently I was doing Battle with some Bogeymen, after I neglected to watch the Time after sending My Peasant Adventurer out to hunt some Night Creatures.

    First, about that.
They kept telling Me they were beasts, who transformed and terrorised them. Then they were just talentless women and children. Literally.
They were easily hacked apart by My Axe.

    Anyway.
So I neglected the Time, and found Myself fleeing from Bogeymen.
    Then THIS happened:

Heres the thing: There were bloody DOZENS of them.
And heres some of the Gamelog:
    Spoiler (click to show/hide)

    Twas an Epic Battle.

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / What the cloth.
    « on: January 22, 2012, 08:12:44 am »
Okey dokey, for some reason, My Loom has guzzled out ******* piles of cloth, and I have no idea what to do with it all.

    SOS!

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Alternatives to a Central Stairway Design?
    « on: January 20, 2012, 06:01:53 am »
And yes, i know, i could build the Fort in Progressive Squares, or Stairways leading to Corridors leading to Stairs.
Im trying to think of something more than that.
Obviously, this is all plans for the next Version, and I lack the enthusiasm to actually test stuff.
Im toying with a Triangular Stairway Design, where the Stairways are organised in a Triangular manner, in which the Triangles have streets within then, and get 2 squares smaller every level.

    But im just after ideas.

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Some Ideas on Goblin Tor...!!Fun!!?
    « on: December 30, 2011, 09:38:15 am »
In short, Ive come by a ton of Goblin Captives lately. Ive been amusing Myself with a Ballista, a Restraint surrounded by Spikes, a Drowning Pool, a Smasher Bridge, and a Colosseum, and of course, tiny Cells, and a Pasture. Because Goblins are dumb animals.

But this is beginning to become a narrow spectrum.

So, I seek Ideas! On how to slowly, painfully, Torture and Kill My Captives.
Which may in future also mean Elves.

DF Gameplay Questions / Bit of a Problem with some Miners...
    « on: September 24, 2011, 11:31:21 pm »
***Issue Resolved. Read My Third Reply.***

Ok, ill Detail this as best I can.

I Started out, and Mined a Corridor.
At the End, I used "Channel" to go Down 1 Z-Level.
The Dwarfs can move Fine, Up and Down there.
I did the same again, going Down another Z-Level, and for Reasons Unknown to Me, they Cannot get back Up.
I even Dug out a New Room where theyre Trapped, and Built an Upward Ramp, and Upward Stairs.
    They still wont go Up.
And Nobody can get Down there, either.

Is there something I dont know, or...?

    EDIT:
    For some Perspective;

▼ Works fine to go from the Entrance, Down 1 Z-Level, or Back Up.
The same thing doesnt Work going from -1Z to -2Z, or Back.
And the < isnt Helping. For Reasons Unknown to Me.

And My Poor Miners are Slowly Dieing. :(

DF Adventure Mode Discussion / Question about RAW Editing
    « on: September 24, 2011, 03:12:24 am »
    Two, Actually.
Im trying to do something rather Specific, but im a touch new to Editing anything other than New Attacks to DF :)

1: How would I go about making a New Playable Race (Or, a Race ive made Playable in) for Adventure Mode?
2: With this New Race, which would be a Duplicate of Humans only with a different Name; How would I go about making his Hands as hot as Magma (Yes, this was Inspired by that Thread), and his Everything Else Resistant to the Heat?

    Thanks for any Advice.

    10
    Just curious.

Recently, ive been testing different Practical Fighting Methods, for when we get nice big Towns and Cities; Since personally i think that using Weapons at all times in such places may perhaps be impractical.
During which, i discovered how realistically effective Leg Kicks were.

Which led me to wondering how many of you Glorious Folks fight Empty Handed in DF.

Vote, Reply, Perform a Blood Ritual... Whatever it is you do :)

Curses / Liberally Conservative Acts (Suggestion)
    « on: May 10, 2011, 01:59:42 am »
Its actually kind-of already in the game.
I mean when an Interrogator jams needles under a captives fingernails, or holds their head under water, and shouts insults instead of persuasions. All those things.

    My Suggestion
is simply that theyre should be an option to do that all the time - Like, "Regular Interrogation - Violent Interrogation".
Thereby allowing you to choose to do those kinds of things, rather than them just be under pretty much random circumstances.

Personally, i also thought Sleep Deprivation and Starving/Dehydrating were nice (EDIT: And Switching Lights On and Off), but hell, thats small fish compared to the above.
I imagine it couldnt be that hard to incorporate, and i feel that itd further allow players to play the game their own separate ways.

    Thankyou for your time
    Community Feedback would be appreciated.

    -Chilton
PS: Elite Liberal Justice! Imagine How Much You Could Dispense!

EDIT: I also know that having a High Wisdom and doing Violent Beatings + Expensive Props makes this happen fairly often - But its mostly flagpole and book beatings. I mean the serious Techniques, that arent as common.

DF Suggestions / The ability to Strike/Attack Corpses
    « on: March 11, 2011, 08:21:52 pm »
This may have been said before, and may seem a bit odd at first, but i assure you it makes sense.
I dont really need to explain the idea, it kind of goes without saying.
    But the purpose is;

    Say you wanted a trophy.
You could cut off the head, hand, ear, finger, anything you chose.
Or for the more malign types, you could cut open bodies and take things out...
Or you could just stab your sword into someones dead body, and leave it jammed into them.
You could also impale people on spears with this method. (To the ground that is)
And if you could grab bodies, you could drag them around as well, albeit this would be a touch redundant.
But more importantly, when things die now, they drop all their items. My idea is that items stay attached, and you can remove them by grabbing and interacting, or by 'g'ing them, kind of like when theyre alive, and your standing over them with a dropped item nearby.

    Need i say any more?

DF General Discussion / I started an Adventure Mode LP on Youtube
    « on: February 09, 2011, 04:34:49 am »
And i couldn't think of anything better to name this thread.

    http://www.youtube.com/user/Caeviens?feature=mhum
In case you don't like reading for some obscene reason.

    Anyway.
Ill begin by saying that id probably do well to announce anything a couple more sets into the future when i actually start doing what i wanted to do the whole time instead of dieing and doing a quest.
So note that this is not entirely representative of the future, its only a start.
Also, ill mention that i tend to set my own quests. An example of how this isnt entirely how its going to be - It was intended purely as a starting point, in which i should have probably been a Dwarf.

    Or something.

The question may be, "What makes this any different". To which i would answer, to wait and see what i prefer to do with my time once i roll a character who can fend for himself. Then ill start taking it seriously. Until then ill mainly be idly testing people, until one Man proves superior to his formers, and becomes the vision i have for him...

Anyway, Feedback is appreciated. Be constructive.
Id sign here, but i spent too long pondering if id be better off signing it with this ID or my YT ID. So Bah.

PS: This may end up being altered into a Fortress Mode play at some point much later on - The World is the relevant point right now, which ill explain when i get around to uploading more in the near future.

DF Adventure Mode Discussion / Clothes/Outfitting - And Weapons i suppose
    « on: February 08, 2011, 11:06:22 am »
Out of interest, am i the only person who dresses my character specifically? As in, removes all the default clothing, except that which he wants, and only wears things he likes?
I only wear trousers, a shirt, socks, shoes, a jacket and a cap. Sometimes gloves. Nothing else. Ever.

I also only wield Slicing Knives.

So you deranged sociopaths glorious people, how do you outfit yourself, Clothing wise? And weapon wise if you have a specific item like that.

DF Adventure Mode Discussion / My plans to deliver justive to a village
    « on: January 10, 2011, 10:38:49 am »
Recently, the residents of a Village slew one of my longest living Adventurers, Axion BrightDark. Rest his soul.
Now, in my anger with these scum, i have forged: Chilton DeathHunger, the Pale Hideous Executioner, to deliver justice!

But the overall point of this thread is, how have you lost your most glorious persons; And how would you exact justice if you could? (I may or may not be planning to use these myself if i run out of ideas)
Also, this may take some time to do.
    Its a fairly populated village.
