Dear Gem Setter,
You know, I was kinda hoping you were going to pimp out the new iron armour a little. Not sure why you didn't, I mean, the metalsmith's forge is closer than the wagon you got the rope from. I mean, I suppose we could sell it to the traders, but... I mean, how does one even encrust a rope? How does that even work? You know what, it's fine, it's my fault for assuming one of you morons would take the very undwarfy option of using logic.

Signed,
Your Tired Overseer,

PS putting menacing spikes on a splint is a fantastic idea.

A fey mood? well, who-? My armourer!

Finally! finally I'll get a useful artifact! One I can proudfully boast about! One that will protect my dwarven soldier from the goblins that the artifact itself draws! Define a burrow! give him all the iron and gold bars! This is going to be great!

Just keep digging  8)

What, dig up the entire map?

Not sure if it is a spoiler, but unless you've changed any world gen settings, each embark is guaranteed to have a LOT of magma if you dig far enough. A magma sea as it were.

I've found that before (hard to miss on the way to the circus), but I've only seen the magma forge option appear when there is magma available, which leads me to presume that magma is more accessable in this area than most.

Another question: I just noticed that on my newest embark, magma forges and magma smelters and such are available, but I don't see any magma. If there's a magma river somewhere underground, what's the easiest way to find it?

Is there a way to make a squad particularly focus on one combat skill? Specifically, biting?

I dunno, but I just saw a wrestler bite a kobold's head off. More specifically, he bit the kobold on the head, then shook him. His body flew off, leaving the kobold's head in the dwarf's mouth. So, biting, yeah. Pretty cool.

That's exactly why I want my squad to train on biting. Having an axe swung at you by a dwarf is scary, but a dwarf tackling you and tearing chunks out of ya with his teeth is fucking terrifying.

So apparently she became queen before becoming a twilight freak wife. Fascinating.

Also, good Lord, what a disgusting description.

It was in .17

The fortress is still going, but when it dies, I'll check Abbeyflesh out in Legends.

"On the item is an image of Bomrek Abbeyflesh the twilight freak wife and dwarves in willow. Bomrek Abbeyflesh is surrounded by the dwarves. The artwork relates to the ascension of the twlight freak wife Bomrek Abbeyflesh to the position of queen of The Sandaled Letter in 51."

Whaaaaat?

"Twilight freak wife."

Whaaat?

Near as I can figure out, it means she was married to somebody, and was also a Twilight fangirl?

Holy shit. A twilight fangirl was in a position of power and the world survived?!

Damn, so unless I mod the game, I'm pretty much doomed to leather armor shits? Humans are op.

I'm pretty sure you need to mod the game already, if you want to be able to shit leather armor.

Having yet to see an elf diplomat accompanying the traders in .17, I had begun to assume the Elves are now less anal about their stupid trees. So I figured I'd at least try to co-exist peacefully with the douchebags. They arrrive, I begin trading and...

A caged Tiger-woman?! You slave-trading bastards!

So, they're dead now, and my fortress has a new resident.

My training room now has a couple statues of Almosh, the deity of War and Victory. Little something to inspire the troops.

Plus, with all the statues that I had made waiting for some ones of Almosh to turn up, I have a lot for trading.

That's a minuscule monitor.

I'm doing a succession fort, I succeeded in getting the entire military killed by killer clowns from clowntopia. Then a goblin siege arrived. It looked like all was lost until I jumpstarted a defense project and put into motion a plan to flood the quarantined demon infestation with magma.

If I ever doubted this game's superiority to all others, this moment cemented it. :D

Magma kills clowns?

My expedition leader likes cave fish men... for ther beauty?

Eye of the beholder, I guess.

Is your fort called Innsmouth by any chance?

Iiiits beginning to look a lot like FISHmen.

Weirdly enough, early in the fortress's life, a small group of snail men wandered by and left without incident. It was the first time I've ever seen an [animal]-man race without breaching the caverns first.
