Yes. However, that's _all_ you need, one or more males (I think they need to be adult too.)
They don't have to be anywhere near each other, or even able to get at each other, they jsut need to exist.

Another way is to build a jeweler's shop in an area you can lock, and make sure there's nothing in it but the gems and a dump zone. Dump the item you want, send your jeweler in to do something, then lock him in, and if he was encrusting something else, suspend the job, forbid the item, then unsuspend the job. He'll have only the item you want encrusted to encrust, so have him do that then let him out.

If you want them to sleep in a specific place, no, otherwise you can just let them go pick their own. First time they sleep in an unclaimed bedroom, it's theirs.

I find it doesn't work on _anything_ that's not a stock humanoid. (Or minotaur or cyclops, which are stock humanoids with horns and less eyes respectively.) Animals? Nope. Nightwings? Nope.

Don't buy any Wreslting, as you can find a ruin, get a zombie, then use wreslting to break their shoulders and hips and start choking them. They won't die from this, and you can run away if anybody else shows up, then come back and do it again. This will make your Wreslting skill go way up, and armor and weapon skills are harder to raise. No shield, since you're going to want the free hand for gouging out eyes and breaking joints.
