And am I the only one who wants to go back to pixelated Rauthaz?

I sure don't... that was a pain to edit.

. . . Not pixelated, merely scarféd Rauthaz?

We can also be one of those small bug things from the Surrealm, though I think that would be a bad idea.

Look on the bright side: pretty soon, we'd get to redesignate that same slot.

And am I the only one who wants to go back to pixelated Rauthaz?

Is TS-419 the guy with the scar?

The "little green man" who's been the right hand of TQ-03You're thinking of SC-412.

I think he's cool, but if we changed him we'd have even fewer female characters.

SC-412 is female.

However, if TQ-04 were replaced with ZC-04 (who has become female by the amazing power of the players to determine gender), and TQ-03 were replaced by TS-419, then the balance of gender would remain as-is.

the station where TQ-04 died

Station?  Try homeworld.  You know, Mezizz?  The fifth planet of the Gabronian home system?  Not gonna label that one a lost cause without a fight.  Not to mention that TQ-01, TQ-02, and Alpha Rauthaz are already headed there on the Acier Rouge for some sort of important event in a few hours, so there's going to be a fight somehow.

I may be conflating "get to Mezizz" with "the important event," but the point stands.

Wait, the society is based entirely on cloning... or at least breeding in tubes. So why wont the slot be filled by TQ-04's clone?

Same reason why we can't
become TQ-04.1, TQ-04's twin-in-every-regard brother
namely, neither "TQ-04.1" nor "TQ-04's clone" exist, because that's not how anything in the breeding process has worked so far.  We've got this idea that us Sectoids are named in whole integers and grown in spawning chambers.  You choose/get assigned a career (or, in some cases, not), and off you go.  The clones are already as uniform, and as unique, as they're going to be, and are not "related" to each other.

Then there's Alpha Rauthaz, who seems to not be a clone somehow.  Not sure what's up with that.

Anyway, I like Andux's listing:

  • Litheu
  • ZC-04
  • TS-419
  • Giga-Nana

. . . Though I'd still add poor, confused TQ-05.  I propose that a new poll go up once we're done with this "favorite character" thing.

Speaking of which, TQ-03 is clearly down at the bottom.  Does anybody like the idea of replacing TQ-03 with TS-419?  I know this isn't part of the debate right now, but the poll is just sitting there and I presume Robocorn is gonna do something with it eventually.

P.S.: Funky colors because I can.

Edited P.P.S.: Dangit, I just re-read that first link I made.  TQ-02 knew TQ-04.  Do you think he'll ever find out what happened?  Actually, in that link, I see TQ-05 crying to see TQ-01 and TQ-02 leave.  We'd better get TQ-05 back in the story somehow, either directly or via ZC-04, so she can develop further; and somebody needs to learn the news of TQ-04 to share with the others.

Edited P.P.P.S.: TQ-04 was crying too!  The only one not crying was TQ-03!

TQ-04 has been struck down

. . .

This wasn't part of the original plan but it came so far out of left field that it almost works.
I can't really think of a more appropriate way for my Lovecraft parody character's story to end.
Still, it feels kind of weird to see him gone because he's the only character that underwent any development.

Better fill that slot wisely when it comes time to do so.

Wow.  I have a sensation both of sadness and completeness.  That was a successful story, with beginning, middle, and end.

If you have any sort of larger plan for the plot, as you've indicated, you should be angling to get points of development for the other characters.  Also, since TQ-04 is on the same planet (you know, the fifth planet from the Gabronian homestar) as TQ-03, the yogurt plot is far from finished.  (Pirate droids vs. horrors from beyond time?)  And for anyone counting, we now have both ZC-04 (the mutant) and TQ-05 (this one) still in the thick of things.

This death, and the inevitable plot recombination, should shake up the question of how "cyclical" the roster has seemed recently.  Another shake-up could be in that instead of TQ-04's chums, we consider adding TS-419--the "little green man" who's been the right hand of TQ-03.  A change of the mutant colony plot by giving a different perspective.  Or we could wait until TQ-03 dies to do so, of course.

. . .

I'll miss you, TQ-04.

Meanwhile, be scarféd Rauthaz.

"You need me to get to this 'other world', huh? So what happens if I die? Do you lose?" Start floating toward AI. "I am willing to sacrifice myself for the Gabronian Empire. Kill me AI." Cover eyes with hands and start shaking in a fear never known before.

Dang TQ-04, you so noble!

Lemme guess which character you'd like to ditch in order to make room on the roster.

Actually . . . might not be a bad idea, if we get ZC-04 to replace him.  Though I'd still miss TQ-04.

well kinda he needs you to be in a sub conscience state

I know.  I hate when things like "conscience" and "morality" get in the way of my extra-dimensional nightmare activities.

get TQ-666 to battle him in a giant mechsuit made of tears.

No, no, skip straight to the salt:

Just have to overcome a few technical hurdles and it'll work.

I predict an epic showdown in the Surrealm

Fantastic.  Clearly a match that will last more than five seconds.  Let's do it!

draw a 5 page comic of amala bursting in on other forum adventurers in progress.

I SUPPORT THIS.

Ah ha!  So that's where Amala went after facing all those signs!

One might imagine it more as three pages, not five: one for each direction.  But that's okay, since it keeps things easier on DarkerDark.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Does it feel good to finally, finally be drawing grotesque abominations from beyond time and space?

Ask the blue thing what's going on with our body out in the real world.

Wow.

That, DarkerDark, is a wonderful drawing.  Yeesh, why don't you just make a "DarkerDark posts fantasy art" thread?  Lots of people would follow it.

The problem is . . . the droids/AI trapping us thought that TQ-42 was just part of our delusion at first.  Here we are in a "treat your delusion" mental space, and now a mind-scarring horror has come to confront us.  How are we supposed to know whether this is a vindication of our memories, or an AI-spawned attempt to make us cleanse our mind of delusion?

Thank you, Robocorn, for leading your audience to doubt reality.

If the monster is real, I'd want to know a whole lot more about why it's in this mindscape.  And why the mind-machine can't just spit us out again and wake us up.  Ask the blue whatsit.  (Too bad that there wouldn't be the slightest smidgen of spare time to answer in a real emergency.)

Okay, it took until now for those darn pictures to show up properly on my page.  So we have two images with crackly things in the background that I can't identify, and then a whole bunch of writing in the last one.  I've been wondering if that last is the general Gabronian writing we've been seeing (e.g. here) or the weirdo stuff used by the angel (only here).  It's probably the same graphics file from Robocorn, but the distinction would tell us whether we're approaching the Surrealm or approaching The Code.

I suggest patting the floating text on the head and scratching it behind the ears.

Annnnd let's just watch the requests get more and more complex as we go.  But I'm glad to see you back, DarkerDark, and I enjoy whatever you draw.

So . . .

I figured I'd give you an either/or request to keep from driving you batty.  Got the time?  Then pick your favorite:

A).  One of the new animal-people added to Dwarf Fortress (e.g., platypus men, capybara men . . . ) as a student before the great and wise amphibian man sensei, learning the skills to deal with the treacherous Amanereli scum, all within the grandiose cathedral of nature that is the Whispering Marshes.

B).  A plump helmet.

We could do a little competition to see who stared at your hour-long animation of GAHH and award zemblax to whomever lasted the longest.  I got just about two minutes in, really, so I probably lose.

Spoiler: what (click to show/hide)

Rumrusher . . . who are you?

--Rexfelum

Why yes, Robocorn, I do have a pretty sweet image manipulator.  Took me awhile to find the right buttons, but GraphicConverter does rock.  And I'm not your bro, but I will take that 300 zemblax.

Also, all of this is silly in light of ZC-04's imminent adventures.  The whole sequence will be interrupted by some sort of Gabronian ex machina contrivance and we will find ourselves in a new and equally-horrifying situation, probably involving extra-spatial yogurt.  'Cause there is no way TQ-42 would bother calling out after us if he/it weren't coming for us promptly.  As in, within one hour.

But in the meantime I support re-entering the Surrealm.  (It's the quest for Shabalash, not Shabalash itself.)  Robocorn has connected TQ-04 and TQ-666 for some reason, and has told us that there's some sort of "plotline" that had been "prepared for the adventure," so the logical conclusion (when trapped in a maddening mindscape) is to push in this plotty direction again.  But don't do this until we've finished the darn song.

Perhaps our poor songsmithing skill (do we know how our songsmithing is as TQ-04?) will cause the singing session to crush our self-esteem, which appears to be a condition for summoning the angel.
