Don't they appear as a zone value? I've seen the cave fish a few times, but whenever I try to establish a zone there, I get 0 for water source, 0 for fishing, and nothing when I send a fisherdwarf down to try. So how do I catch those fish?

I've got nothing but salt water in the caverns below me, but shouldn't there be fish living in it? Would pumped water become fishable, or do I need to make my own fish farm?

I did what I should've done my first time; embarked on a nice and defensible volcano where the wildlife doesn't hunger for brains. I'd forgotten that my adventurer climbed this mountain, but one engraver here is so fixated on the event that I'll never forget the name of the peak now: The Flame of Outrage. Such an awesome name for a fort.

If the worldgen ended with 31k wolves, then I assume they'll be extinct after 31k are killed during play. Is the population divided by regions, or will one region keep spawning them until 31k wolves are dead?

Try a quiver. It'll store exactly two weapons of any weight, or weapon and shield. Put it on before your backpack and it'll stay at the top of the inventory list when you go to remove from or put into it.

My engraver carved 18 images of my adventurer triumphantly climbing a mountain, all in one 4x6 hallway. Over 800 named kills and that's what he fixated on? At least one was a masterpiece.

Any blade should do it if he's that fractured, a dagger is just as good as a two-handed sword. Just keep whacking him until you cut him off at the throat or waist. Try to get steel or at least iron before you fight another one of those.

Dull is right. I can whizz through the same distance of mountains, which has terrain, altitude and mineral variations, wildlife, and still doesn't take the load time or cause the FPS grind that ocean travel does. My favorite part is that the step immediately following a 15 second pause is....a 45 second pause, just to bring me this: MORE MOTHERFUCKING NOTHING!

And don't the region sizes seem a little inconsistent? I could run for 3-4 regions worth of tiles and still be just off the shore, or worse, still one square away from shore. But somewhere in the middle I'm making three region-tile jumps for just crossing the screen.

Both. The caravan didn't move until I dismantled the drawbridge, then it teleported straight to the Depot from more than halfway across the map.

I've got a downward rampway with clear Depot access to the exterior, until I put a drawbridge across the top of the ramps about halfway down. I've tried placing both raising and retracting, width-wise and lengthwise, but Depot access is cut off every time, whether it's open or shut.

If I can get this to work, would caravans even come near air-locking dual drawbridges?

That works if there's water; if it's an empty murky pool, look up to see where your ambusher is, go to that rim and keep hitting the attack button to kill him (couldn't tell you the keystrokes, I remapped mine too long ago.)

I got ambushed by a lion who was sitting on a pillar of stone dead center of an empty pool. That worked, and I was able to fast travel out.

Sure it's out there -- it's displayed in population reports, and it couldn't have been genned for nothing, right? I haven't seen it while swimming across the ocean yet. All I've seen are unwarranted 15 second load pauses every 8-10 tiles for either nothing but the usual subterranean creatures, or nothing at all.
