Awesome, thanks!  :)

After years of using the default tileset in its various iterations (Well, aside from Dystopian Rhetoric's awesome units for 2D/early 3D DF.) I've decided that I need graphics in my life again. Well, sort of. What I'd like to do is just use your character graphics and continue using the default tileset. I tried mucking around with the Lazy Newb Pack but to no avail. My primary reason for this is that I cannot stand how the world map looks using any sort of graphical tileset and, well, it's been years and one step at a time. Anyway, am I missing something obvious to just use the characters or is it not possible with the way this is set up?

A kobold recently assassinated the Human Merchant Baron that the humans sent one summer. Did didn't like this, and the next year they send an army instead of a caravan. I thoroughly defeat it and they rout. However, I notice that for a year there is no sign of them. The next summer they send me a diplomat who speaks with my leader.

How long has this been in? Have I just missed this?

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / No hope for small monitors?
« on: May 28, 2007, 05:13:00 pm »
I constantly see screenshots from people using the pretty object tilesets alongside the nice square tilesets. Unfortunately for me, I'm stuck using a 15" monitor with a max resolution 1024x768. I know all the good tilesets require much higher resolutions. Is there any hope that I'll one day be able to use a square tileset (and objects) or am I forever doomed to be using the annoying default ones  :(

Meh. Maybe I'll just do a game in the most haunted territory I can find. Who needs trade with the humans and elves anyway.

All I know is i'm not abandoning my current world. It's been through 2 fortresses (Boatmurdered and Castlerooter) and a bunch of adventures. Not until the next update atleast

It'd require a new world? I guess this idea is out then. Maybe i'll just limit the number of dwarves and allow more in slowly and pretend dwarves gave birth   ;)

I'm about to get going on another Let's Play for the Something Awful forums and I thought that i'd like to mix it up a bit this time around.

I was thinking of doing a game and limiting it to about 8 or 10 dwarves and having a "Family game". However, from reading the DF wiki I'm not sure if it's possible.

Will Dwarves who are not a couple have children? If I have 8 dwarves, and let's say half are female, will any of them ever give birth?

If they won't, will the initial seven dwarves ever come as a couple?

If one of the above is true, then is there a way to edit the length it takes for children to mature from baby to child then child to peasant?

Slartibartfast: You shouldn't. Archives is supposed to be free now. Try again later maybe?  Sometimes when they work on the archives they'll lock them. Either way i'm working on editing the castlerooter threads to appear as the Boatmurdered one did.

Edit: If it still doesn't work, then I'm uploading the first thread to megaupload right now

My glory as ruler of Boatmurdered for two years will be forever remembered as awesome.

If anyone cares the "Let's Play" of Castlerooter takes place in the same world as Boatmurdered ans is also quite good if I do say so myself!

Risk vs Reward  :)

The high risk will save alot of time since you won't have to worry about charcoal or smelting coal (except for steel)

I had the same problem the other day. Turned out an unfinished, but furnished, noble's quarters was locked and the dwarves were trying to go in there to eat.
