The fortress didn't attract more migrants this season, and I'm starting to consider giving control of the fort over to someone else. This whole Overseer-for-1-year way of governing forts seems to work quite well and I don't see a reason to change that. When Sandstone arrives, I'll be stepping down as overseer and work for the fort as its broker/mechanic.

But before that happens, I'll be pimping my office! TO THE GLASS FURNACES!

The weapon traps have been installed and we're digging out a hematite vein in the entrance. I also made some changes so that whoever raises the drawbridges don't have to go up against ambushers to do so. The rest of the hallway can be filled with traps when the need arises.

I've ordered the construction of some menacing iron spikes. Our fortress is starting to get the attention of the goblins and I don't think Meng the wrestling farmer and the guard donkey is enough to keep them from attacking.

After some dwarven therapy (Diving into a booze barrel and not coming out until it's empty) I quickly assigned the army of soap makers and tanners to do all kinds of crap around the fort and the few useful ones to blacksmithing. Now to make some cool green glass statues and placing them in my room. They'll go well with the mechanisms.

Walls are being built around the cavern staircase so that nothing can't wander into the fort. Meanwhile, a kobold was caught in the fort. I ordered Meng the farmer to hold him down so we could throw him into a room and lock the door for future questioning, but something... snapped inside of him and he punched the poor kobold to death. On one hand, I'm worried about whether he's stable or not. On the other hand, we got ourself a skilled wrestler. I'm also posting guard dogs outside the entrance to keep out intruders.

I was worried that we had passed by the caverns completely, but we found them. 92 z-levels below ground. I went down there and took a look for myself. The caverns are so huge and expansive that I couldn't even see the bottom. This will be something for later overseers to deal with. I'll just order a stair all the way down to the ground done, secure it and leave it at that.

EDIT: Wait, what is that...

Recieved: Plump helmets, meat, sandbags, an iron bar, logs and so much cheese.
