Zealots and Demons, Turn 56:  Disgusting Potions

Quote from: Caellath
Try to apologize and give and excuse before leaving the place and go looking for Fleur. If he still isn't satisfied, then give him a short voice report and leave afterwards.

[2] You try to shirk your duties but the Draconian acts like he doesn't even here you pulling you to the side and asking you all sorts of questions, a lot of which are more technical than you can really answer.  He sighs before looking to your two friends, "Don't suppose either of them know much about engines, eh?"  [1] Neither Tikan or Akari respond, seemingly wanting to stay out of the investigation into the crash.  The Draconaian sighs shaking his head, "I'll have work for you later, but for now just go walk around, get acquainted with the town or something.  I'll be here if you need anything."  Raeph says though he looks defeated in a small way though his face remains expressionless his shoulders are sunken down a little maybe, or maybe his energy seems a little less vibrant, like all his hopes were pinned on you.

[4]  You leave the Barracks, feeling a little guilty about how things turned out with Raeph when you notice Aegnor trying to make a potion out of the side of your eye.  He's with that Troll from earlier.  Odd you think to yourself, but there's nothing else for it.  You also notice that the Nurse Fleur is much more believably an assassin now in the blackened leather armor with her daggers, knives, and caltrops.

Quote from: Tiruin
Conjure writing implements! Turn around while doing so.

[5]  You expertly conjure a quill and inkpot and paper, but it seems Mordekhai won't be getting a chance to use them anytime soon, so you just dismiss them and follow along behind him..

Quote from: lawastooshort
Go wait outside on the steps unless required.

[1]  You really can't help with much of anything, so you just sit back and watch, then following Mordekhai to his destination.

Quote from: Ochita
Make a couple of wild magic-protection drafts

[5-2(unstocked alch. equipment.)  Somehow out of spit, a tiny bit of lemon juice and a healthy amount of prayer you make a workable Wild Magic Protection potion, two actually.

Quote from: Zako
Ask the nurse/assassin where we could acquire potions that let us walk safely in the wild magic zone.

[3]  She gestures behind you, "I zink he has an extra one, yes?"  You look behind to Aegnor who is holding up two. . . potions. . . of something.

Quote from: Fleur
Wait

"You are not really going to drink zose, are you?"  She says, having watched Aegnor put his spit into both of them.  "Desperate times, desperate measures I suppose.

((Hmmm... Well, technically, now that I look over my custom history for my character, he does follow most of what the zealots already follow. He isn't actually a part of the zealot order and is a lot more easy going and less strict than a zealot is. I came up with the pilgrim of a ancient troll tradition as a way to get him relatively close to being a zealot without actually being one.))

((You do realize you're not born into the Zealots but rather join up with them.  Thus it's completely possible for him to have kept the same history, but still be a Zealot that joined up with them.  Either way though, I'm not going to move on my lore that all Crusaders are Zealots, although there is also room for every other profession to join up with them too if they really wanted.))

Kael looked long and hard at the nurse made assassin before sighing and shaking his head.

"Alright, i'll help ya only because shes a worse killer than yourself and needs to pay for her actions. But I recommend thinking over what ya want your life to be and if this is what ya really want, life debt or not.

How exactly do we protect ourselves from wild magic? I'm not really knowledgable in the ways of magic..."

"You 'ave your path, I 'ave mine.  I will not dis'onor ze debt I owe.  As for protection from wild magic, zere are several different ways.  Personally, I zink zat ze best way is through ze alchemaic process.  Better zan enchanting an item and zen losing it in ze 'eat of a fight.  Of course, you 'ave to make sure you are gone by a certain time zen.

Kael was taken aback somewhat after seeing the nice nurse come downstairs in armor and weapons. The caltrops gave away what kind of warrior she was though, which was unsettling for him.

"I never realized ya had this... Side to ya. I can see you're an assassin of some kind. I'd like to know about who you're after and why do ya have such a... Unlikely profession."

"Well, to be 'onest, it was not my choice.  I owe a life debt to ze guild leader, so, I do what I need to.  Usually, I just get our people in and out of ze 'ospital without a fuss, we are stretched thin now zough, being pulled is many differing directions.  I know I 'unt a pirate named Maria, she was unable to locate what she sought on board ze Stormrider before ze crash.  I do not know who 'ired us, or why, but I know where she is.  We will find 'er and 'er unruly mob 'ere." she says gesturing to a map of the city behind her.  You look at the location, the slums built into the very walls that protect the city.  The houses used to be nice property but recently. . . well. . . after an explosion of a magic engine the whole place got sprinkled with residual wild magic, nothing has been right ever since.  Clean-up crews have been working on getting it under control, but it's a slow process and it'll likely be three more months until the area is 'livable' again.  Of course, that did little good for the people stuck there in quarantine. "I would suggest to you, find some way to suppress ze wild magic in an area around you.  I would not want you to grow an extra eye."

Zealots and Demons, Turn 55:  Rusty Caltrops

Quote from: Zako
Head back to the others and show them around town wherever they want to go. Be generally helpful and nice.

[4] You run into Fleur and the elf fellow from earlier, they seem somewhat anxious and want to be on about their business.

Quote from: Ochita
Give fleur healing potion, wait outside for her.

[3]  You hand the potion to Fleur and then go to wait around outside when the Troll from earlier comes up to you and starts asking if you need anything.  Maybe he could be recruited into helping you as well, since Nepthym is gone.

Quote from: Tiruin
Squee at the Snow!

Added action: Follow the Mordekhai Plan!

[5]You squee in the most incredibly cute manner at the snow and everything else about your new surroundings.  You follow Mordehkai around for some reason, instead of Fleur who would be the more obvious choice.

Quote from: Caellath
Mordekhai moves on to get his armor, equipment and a shave before leaving.

[3]  You run out with your posse and pick up your armor.  You ain't got time to shave though!  Besides, whiskers are awesome, they help keep your face warm, and are fun to stroke when you're thinking.  Nope, definitely keeping those whiskers.  As you turn to leave a giant nine foot tall black draconian seems to silently appear in front of you.

"Mordekhai, I presume.  I'm Raeph, a pleasure to finally meet you."  He says grabbing you by the hand and pulling your hand close to his chest in such a way that his hand is also close to yours.  You're still awestruck by the size of the Draconian though, you knew some were larger than others, but Raeph towers over you like an adult over a child.

"I wish you had arrived under better circumstances.  All the same I will do my best to make your stay a pleasant one, I will need a full report on what happened down in the Engine Room though.  Everyone else I might have been able to interview about it is either dead or ran off before gathering any pertinent information.  You might hold the clue that tells us just what happened... and also, if there is more to worry about that we originally anticipated." he explains.  You really ought just want to sneak out but somehow you think that now that the Draconian has his claws into you (figuratively speaking of course) there isn't going to be any escape until he gets the information he wants.  Just like most other Zealots really, determined and with a sense of justice.

Quote from: lawastooshort
Wait for the others. If we know where she is, stake out Maria's hiding place, very cautiously.

[1]  You sort of just stand around inside of the hospital, [3] until Mordekhai drags you along with him to the Zealot HQ.  Not nearly as grand as you thought it would be.

Quote from: Fleur
Take the Troll and Elf with me to pickup equipment, after giving ample notice to my supervisors that I'm leaving of course.

[1]  Fleur leaves in a hurry without saying a word to anyone.  [4]  She finds the Troll, Kael, and healer, Aegnor, waiting outside and decides to take both of you with her to her house.  She shows you into her Parlor to wait while she gets ready.  It's more sparse than what you would have expected, though you both look at the curios she has collected with polite interest while she prepares.  It isn't long until you hear her heading down the stairs again.

She's dressed in blackened leather now, black cloth covering anything the leather doesn't, excepting her face which is shrouded in darkness by her cloth hood.  [Melee Weapon: 3]  At her sides you see a couple of short daggers.  [Ranged Weapon: 2]  She has several knives mostly hidden under a leather strap just behind her shoulders.  [Misc. Equipment: 4] She also seems to be bringing along quite a few rusty caltrops.  You take careful note not to stand anywhere she's tossed them after remembering horror stories about Lockjaw.  "'Zere we go, are you both ready to go?" she asks, her face still smiling at you, though given the new outfit it seems unfitting.

We're elves, obviously we should say we specialize in life magic.  Also, I vote we just act like some kind of scouting force for the moment, because really... that's the only thing remotely believable.

((And then Fleur was probably a Hidden Badass.))

((Aye, she is definitely more than meats the eye.  *transforming noises*  *Fleur comes out as a 12 foot-tall Draconian with Lazer Sword, exploding Bolas and shoulder mounted-machine guns.*))

((Eh really though it is probably better this way.  You'll be meeting another person if you follow her around long enough who most certainly is a bad-ass.))

Grab the book, then go downstairs and get away from this anti magic floor.

Zealots and Demons, Turn 54:  A Turn of Conversations

Quote from: Zako
Keep listening to this interesting conversation about the sewers. Think about why someone wants to go down there regularly.

[5]  You don't have to wait long until the conversation naturally drifts to that topic.

But why would people be going into the sewers anyhow.

They say the people are looking for a way to break into the Halls of the Dead underneath the Keep.  I find it highly unlikely though.  There's nothing in the Halls but memories and urns.

Maybe there is some kind of meeting place down there, secret society and all that sort of thing.

Don't tell me you actually believe that garbage.  Look, I've lived here all my life, if there was ever a city for clean living, it's Durant.  Too cold out here to mess around with anything else.

Whatever, anyhow, about my order.

Yeah, yeah, another hundred throwing blades right here.  Give me a little more notice next time.

No promises, but thanks.

As soon as the transaction is completed the human takes the box, turns around and walks away.  You try to follow him with your eyes but he disappears into the crowd.  You never really got a good look at him even.

((Orange voice is the human, green is the Draconian.))

Quote from: lawastooshort
Put on my clothes, conceal my knife, and then walk outside for a while in the snow. Afterwards, search for someone who is investigating the airship crash to see if they have any idea who is responsible.

[1]  You manage to put on your clothes, and a nice thick jacket over it.  You think about putting on thicker pants but it can't be that bad.  You step outside for five minutes and walk around, you quickly come back inside the hospital though and put on the thicker pants, it is definitely that cold.  Winter in the mountains is atrocious you decide.  You've also reached the conclusion that you wish the airship would have made it to the tropics of the Broken Isles.  Sure, it may be so hot that you want to take all your clothes off, but it's better than being so cold you can't put enough clothes on.

Quote from: Caellath
Mordekhai just wears his clothing.

[free-action]  You manage to get your clothing on.  Nice thick clothing, you feel warm already!

Quote from: Ochita
Make from the following: Sleep potions and a couple of potions of healing.

[2] [2] [4]  You use up most of the supplies left in your box.  You sigh realizing it's about time to get a new one.  Most of the potions are incredibly weak or just don't work, one of your healing potions is passible though.

Quote from: Tiruin
Conjuring up...something akin to a smoke bomb!

[3]  You sit around playing with your magic while Fleur attempts to make sense of your spellbook.  You try creating a smoke bomb, the best you get are a few pellets that create a cloud of odd-smelling dust though.  Better than nothing.

Quote from: Fleur
Attempt to read the Kitsune's spellbook.

[4] "From what I can tell, 'zis book describes ze creation of new spells from raw mana.  A useful skill to be sure, for you anyhow.  Also, look 'ere, in ze margins, ze previous owner, at least I assume it is not your hand writing in ze margins, far too boxy and masculine for one of your kind I fancy.  Alas, I distract from ze true issue, ze margins contain notes on summoning rituals.  It mentions not only ze demons and angels zat so many focus on, but also on summoning from other realms, for example." Fleur says turning to a particular page she was holding the place of.  "'ere, it is mentioning somezing 'e calls 'ze shadow world' a concept with which I am not familiar.  And 'ere, 'e mentions a zing called Tribalum.  I 'ave never 'eard of such a 'zing, but ze book says it is a creature made to 'unt zose with magic energy.  I do not 'ow you came into possession of zis book, I would be very careful with it though, some of zese notes in ze margin are. . . not for ze faint of 'eart."

That the power they offer us at all can be used towards any good effect at all.  We do not wish to sink to the depths that they have, and they all fell prey to the same Death God's allure.  No, we should not associate with this Death God at all lest we fall under the same sway.  I find it very likely that the power he is offering is corrosive to the very soul, why else would every necromancer try the same ploy.  No, we do not need his corrosive power, we will find a way to use our powers for good, not use whatever soul-stealing powers given to us by a God who does not have our wishes at heart.

((Oh god why ask the healer to help kill someone Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaa.))

Aegnor had a hard time coping with the sheer number of people that he had to help, while everyone was stable and such, he still had to do a lot of the reapplying of bandages, cleaning out beds, cleaning people.. At the least, he was helping with some of the load.

...

Aegnor expresses some shock on his face. "You have a life debt to them?"
Aegnor shuts his eyes, and after a couple of emotions flying past his face, he nods slightly.
"I really can't believe that I'm doing this, but can you tell me more about who you need to kill?"

"I zink you misunderstand ze kind of help I was wanting.  You are an alchemist, are you not?  I seek somezing to give me ze advantage.  I would not ask you to put your life on ze line for my lifedebt." she says her face remaining neutral while you consider helping her.

"If you are curious, zere is some pirate in town, zey want her dead.  Maria, I zink.  Beyond zat, I do not question, it is not my place."
