Does mousewheel scrolling change the elevation? I thought it did.

btw, glass is a HORRIBLE material for anything designed to kill.

This is only true most of the time. You see, Glass has some of its material values undefined. This means that each time you load up dwarf fortress, you spin the glass lottery wheel, and whatever value happens to be in the register at the time gets drafted as the MAX EDGE value for that session (and some others, I'm simplifying).

For this reason, it is not recommended to make danger rooms with glass weapons -- they work for seasons upon seasons, but one day, glass decides it wants to be three times sharper than obsidian, and the next thing you know you've got a military of quadraplegics.

Forget about eliminating Bogeymen, I think it'd be much more useful to change them to another, more truly terrifying creature. Like cats.

Megaprojects? Also, Hell and other monsters can still arrive through the deep. Apparently recently there was a psuedoarticle in PCGamer where someone founded a fort on an evil island where he was constantly menaced by undead on the surface as well as the forgotten beasts below, and eventually lost the fort to demons, so it isn't like there's no Fun to be had on an island.

It sounds like you're talking about OILFURNANCE, the "sequel" to Bronzemurdered.

Though if I had temperature off at the time, that might have been in their favor...

I've had this in two fortresses in a row now (separate worlds).  Only one goblin civ, but I noticed in the second one that it appears that my human civ conquered a dark fortress or something and folded some goblins into its ranks (or vice versa?).  When ambushes show up, the goblins fight the human mercenaries in their own band.  Sometimes they attack other goblins, whom I assume are related to the humans somehow.

tldr; I think it's a bug concerning takeovers by/of dark fortresses..

I just tried to tap into a lake 3 z-levels down from the waters surface. my entire fortress from that point down flooded within 5 seconds.

This actually happened to me. "This is a donkey bone scepter. All craftsdwarfship is of the highest quality". Pretty bummed that bone artifacts are still bummed.

i don't think them having custom reactions would help much, i believe those reactions are only useful for fort mode, no?
Custom reactions provide whatever they make to the entity, so it will give them the material.

But will they *prefer* it. That's what we're asking.
