It's easy enough to manually replace [Pet_Exotic] with [pet] in the RAWs.

Unfortunately, Giant Desert Scorpions seem to have lost their fear-factor in my current fort. They flee when civilians approach to pick up wood, or whatever.

After 5 years, the dwarfs of Duskspire are finally beginning to pump magma for their massive 64x64x8 obsidian block-to-be.

It's especially gratifying, because I chucked 8 captured troglodytes in front of the encroaching magma. They had been assaulting those brave dwarves who were gathering water for the water reactor.

Just wanted to pop in here with a bug report of sorts. In the .12 and .14 versions of the graphics set at least (Man, I'm never going to keep up to date with the rate Toady keeps pumping out releases...) doors made out of Olivine use the Masterwork/Gem symbol instead of the door symbol, and doors made out of most wood likewise don't resemble doors (though not a recognizable symbol to me).

Is this a bug? Necessary quirk in the way the set is implemented?

I think "Catten" is a royal female name. I've had several queen Catten, and one king.

Also, "Ushrir" was the name of three of my ten miners in my current fort. Appropriate, given the meaning (Quake).

You need a mod that allows use of meat for masonry and crafts.  Build your fort out of meat.  Decorate your meat furniture with meat.  Make flesh beds and meat bags for furniture.  A mighty fortress of succulent, delicious, greasy MEAT.

Because I'm about to abandon and I don't want them strewn everywhere, I want my dwarves to move all the uncut gems I've excavated into lead (VERY HEAVY) bins.

How would I go about doing this? Marking the wooden bin for dumping seems to dump the gems inside as well.

You'd have to change the GDS' [PET_EXOTIC] tag to [PET]. Or you'd need to get a dungeon master, but they're broken for now.

Well the reason I ask, is because they don't have a [Child] descriptor, like all the other breedable animals. Is that not a requirement, or... what?

How can I start a breeding program for captured giant desert scorpions? Do I have to mod the RAWs for this? If so, what do I need to add?

Edit: And now I have a sudden desire to "breed" (Mod-in) a new pet. The Miniature Giant Desert Scorpion.

A Sasquatch broke my dwarf's lower spine. He seems to be handling this pretty well though -- he broke off combat and is now "resting" in one of the beds.

Is he going to be able to continue to fend off sasquatchs in the future? Or should I bequeath the remaining wardogs to the next hapless milita captain volunteer?

Nervous injuries don't heal in DF. I have a guy who's spinal tissue is bruised and I doubt he'll ever walk again. And since crutches don't work...

Yeah, except this guy is still walking around. He managed to get into the bed after the sasquatch ran off, anyway.

You can't have war hydras in the base game. Hydras may be possible pets, but they lack the [TRAINABLE] tag that dragons (and lions, and tigers, and bears, oh my!) have that allows them to be tamed into war or hunting beasts.
