Is there any chance someone can create a torrent version of this? For some reason my computer is having some serious problems downloading from the DFFD. I'd love to use it, but for reasons I can't fathom, I can't download it right now.

Thanks!
Hopefully word of mouth will spread it to other communities, and we can get more than a handful of people joining.

I've recently made a forum dedicated to hosting forum games such as Roll To Dodge, or Choose Your Own Adventure.. However, I'm having some trouble getting the word out, and I thought maybe the fine people of Bay12 might be interested. Having a slightly more organized method of having RtDs, instead of just one sub-forum with every sort of RtD thrown into it, seems fairly appealing to me. Right now the community is rather small, but it's growing by word of mouth. So, without further ado, have a link to the forum. Please feel free to suggest anything and leave constructive criticism.

Name: Adrian Hayes
Profession: Monster Hunter
Bio: Raised in the rural outskirts, Adrian learned to fire a rifle before he went to middle school. By the time he had graduated high school, he was extremely skilled with any sort of long gun. After the monsters started coming, he decided he could apply those hunting skills to killing monsters as well.
Hierloom Item: Medallion w/ chain, given to him by his father.
Throw me on the waiting list, please.

Your standing as a settlement is determined by how the merchants feel about you, particularly the dwarven ones that come in the fall.  The more you trade with them, the more people that will come to stay.

In short, you need stuff to trade with the merchants.

Simple way to start is stonecrafting.  Just have someone dedicated towards that task, then put 'make stone crafts' on repeat.  Best if you place the workshop, a small stockpile of nonmetal, noneconomic stone, the trade depot, and a finished goods stockpile next to each other.  Extra bonus if you have a jeweler nearby as well to apply found gems to the crafts, and a bonecrafter for the same reasons.

Another option is selling off food if you have a lot of it (roasts made by a good cook sell extremely well!).

Simply buy all you can from the merchants.  If you have more to trade than items you actually want, then just let the trader end up with a bigger profit.

Other matters, like engraving and statues to increase the overall value of your place, I believe, help as well.  Personally, though, I stick to having a dedicated cook and stonecrafter (with a jeweler/bonecrafter) when I only have 13 dwarves to work with.

Do that for a while, and you'll get people interested in you.
I've got stone crafts leaking out my ass. I've only had one trading caravan come from the Elves. And it's been like 6 seasons.

Ok, so I'm fairly new to DF, but I like it so far. However, I've hit a little bit of a dull note. I've got a fairly small fortress (13 dwarves), and I'm waiting for more migrants to come, since so far every time it's said "No Migrants have arrived this season". I'm trying to think of things to make in the meantime, so my dwarves aren't idling, but I can't come up with much, because I'm not sure what I need. Can I get some recommendations?

Depot accessibility doesn't really matter in 0.31, since caravans never seem to bring wagons.

However, the reason your depot is "inaccessible" is because down-stairs block wagon access unless you put hatch covers over them.
Ok, I put down the hatches. I still haven't gotten any traders though...

So yea, I made my shitty little practice fortress, and I was planning on getting some stuff from trade. However, the entire map appears to be inaccessible. I made a little .gif to show.

DF Gameplay Questions / Dwarf Manager

Hi everyone, new member here. I registered specifically to ask this question.

For DF2010, since Dwarf Manager can't be used since it's not up to date, what you recommend? Is Dwarf Therapist the same thing?
Edit: Well, apparently Dwarf Therapist doesn't work either  :-\

Thanks.
