(heya armok, i would like to have you play with us but your kobold is far too powerfull to join the rest of the novices, and far to powerful to stalk the dwarves as enemies. Once they start thier fort you can steal from them once they have some wealth though. im shure they will have some insidious traps you you  :D)(I am just a casual GM so if you start your own game i wont take it personally, i dont even post on weekends)

*Oddom Begins running across the field to snatch the note, but it is stil a long ways off. Thikut enters the saw mill building where he finds a large room full of benches and tables, a complete set of fine carpentry tools(+1) a barrel of water, stone blocks, and the rest of the building has collapsed, with a human corpse partially sticking out of the rubble. There is an arrow in his leg. Beyond one of the missing walls, there is a mound of freshly turned earth.*

Tiwuthi heads for the note, yanks out the barbed arrow, and lets the human hand fall to the ground.  The note is written in elven (elfish? haha jk again) using charcoal.  It reads " We will not stand idly by while you butcher our woods, For every tree that falls 10 manfolks will fertilize our homes. Fancy forest is under our protection. If even one drop of sap touches  the ground will we extract the same price from your woodsmen. Blood for Blood, we will not warn you again."

*Tiwuthi quickly crosses the field and approaches the partially collapsed smoldering building. He sees the area littered with many things, among them, broken axes, bent saws, arrows sticking out of various objects and at least 30 LOG  UNITS. Tiwuthi smells a faint scent of decay as he notices a red streak on the door to the saw mill. It is a severed hand pinned to the door by an iron spike, and beneath it is a bloody note. and the door is ajar.*

*Despite Oddoms orders, noone scouts ahead, and after many forks in the road you begin to approach the smoking area. The road is rough here but has seen recent use. This area you come upon has been clearcut, and a smoldering logging camp comes into view a ways from the road (100 yards or so). Some of you strain your eyes but see no movement, it appears deserted there is a wooden building, a saw mill 2 broken wagons, a shack, and many felled trees.*

does anyone investigate?

*The dwarves talk amongst themselves a little but everyone quickly falls asleep. The dogs bark alot during the night but otherwise the night passes uneventfully. The next morning everyone gets up and continues on thier journey.*

*The expedition is now travelling through fancy forest, and on the horizon a column of smoke rises from somewhere behind the treetops. It is along your path and it is only a matter of time before you find out what it is.*

NISH "Well, I can't very well leave my own son. I haven't a doubt they'd shave the poor guy's beard and sell him to some barren old crone back in their city, just for a few extra coppers."

*Oddom grins and waves him in*

*NEK, OLIN and KED and Oddom welcome NISH, and his gear, and his son along. After sunset, and many more hours of walking, KED finally complains of fatuige and the rest of the party readily accepts camping here beside the road. The dwarves set out thier tents and gather some wood for a fire. Most are too tiredand sleepy to say much of anything, but NEK volunteers to keep watch at night for at least a few more hours. Just as NEK makes the offer, Distant howls are heard, possibly wolves, possibly beakdogs.*

(The WAGON has made 40 miles of progress today, out of 160 miles. Ahead is still fancy forest, the river, and finally the The mountains of DevilRock.)


(oh and the dwarfs thing was just a little joke to fenrir, so everybody can chillax    :D, also, is there a way to put pictures in my post i want to share my little pictures.)

NISH: * you wait patiently as your human escorts go offroad to let some other caravan past. You stare in amazement at your fortune to notice that the other wagon seems to be an expedition on its way to unknown lands. What a convenient opportinity in these travelers to avoid the capital cities' tedious paperwork, waiting periods, and fees. You shoulder your backpack and pickup your son to approach the stranger dwarves(dwarfs!?)to see if they would accept you and your gear.*

*The WAGON continues onward, coming onto a wagon train that is lopsidedly resting beside the road with a bunch of frowning humans waiting atop them. The MERCHANT and some human come forward with a large barrel.*

MERCHANT:Sorry for the delay, here take this barrel as a token of freindship. I chose my favorite brew, Longland Beer. No hard feeling eh?

Your WAGON gains 25 Longland Beer units!

*The MERCHANT turns to his wagons and directs his people to man the ropes to get the wagons out of the mud, while your expedition continues down the road*

*The MERCHANT and SOLDIER look at each other uneasily and SOLDIER shrugs before then looking back at THIKUT.*

MERCHANT: " Forgive me good sir dwarf, I had no idea, i am just a traveling merchant  eager to do my duty and avoid any incidents with the local dwarven officials. I will return to my wagons and i promise to have them out of your way before you arrive.

*The MECHANT and SOLDIER begin turning around to gallop back to their wagons, and the oxen start moving again.*

Scene

*The WAGON comes to a stop, and several of the dwarves stand there in the rain unshure what to do. But others take action. HELMAROC deposits his hunting kill in the wagon and quietly pulls out and readies his crossbow. TIWUTHI  remains back about 11 yards from the MERCHANT(and 5 yards from the wagon) and THIKUT approaches the Merchant to have a stern word with him.  Their human wagon train remains far behind, out of sight past a bend in the road through the thick decidious forest.*

TIWUTHI: you are hidden in the cover of a shallow ditch beside the wagon, 5 yards back from the wagon (do you have a crossbow or a repeting crossbow? one does more damage other is faster firing)

HELMAROC:  you add one weeks worth of warthog meat to the wagon  :).you remain partially behind the wagon, and ready your crossbow out of sight, Hiding under the wagon would give you a good shot btw and remain out of sight.

THIKUT: (ithink you mean to confront the guy yes?) You go past the wagon and stop by the oxen when the merchant begins to speak.

MERCHANT: "You are the leader then?, well come on, get those oxen MOVING! ill not be late on account of you peasents."

*the MERCHANT wears a light teal turban and scarf, with a cloak hiding the rest of him, he is on a horse and there is a blade stored in the saddle. The SOLDIER also has a cloak and he is armoured in mail with a pot helm and he has a blade at his side and a round shield at his back.  The dogs feel the tension in the air and scamper about making the horses nervous.*

THIKUT: "you ruined my shot!i aught to rip your beard clean off!. Oh my! are you hurt ? you look like you have been out here for months? come on weve got a wagon where we can at least bandage you up.

HELMAROC: You shoot another bolt into the WARTHOGS vitals (dealing 6 damage in all) the warthog begins raging and getting up but the hunting dog colides with him and shakes him by the neck untill dead. After cleaning and skinning the hide, you take one weeks worth of warthog meat back towards the wagon. The dog munches on the entrails.

NewScene

The forest rain intensifies, and an incoming wagon train approaches, but ahead of that comes 2 riders, protected by cloaks against the rain. The problem approaching is clear, the road is not wide enough to let both wagons pass, and somone is going to have to go offroad down some rooty shallow muddy embankments while the other passes. Further behind, Tiwuthi and Thikut approach, with Helmaroc further in the rear

WAGON: the dwarves at the wagon are approached as they travel by 2 cloacked figues atop horses.  one throws his hood back and revealshimself as a MERCHANT, the other grips a sword  at his side.

MERCHANT: "By the authority of The United Confederacy of Dunces, i order you pilgrims to clear this road. We have a high priority shipment coming through to appease your king!, and we are in need of the good weapons we were promised in exchange. so move on over!, you can park your decrepid wagon in the ditch!

(final wagon descision goe to expedition leader Oddom, smith btw,)

(Hehe fenrir i guess i got carried away having fun typing your name !!!, i certainly HOPE your not on fire  :) )

(Ya!, quit worshipping your pagan moon godnew year rituals! and come play with me! let me know if i can do anything different, like take more assumptions on your charachters to make it go faster or something, im eager to use my rules for digging and crafting items and farming&stuff and see what you guys come up with)
