DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: Today's brand new Queen is....

Those are always fun. My fort had one with thousands of recorded kills and was so old everyone she knew had died long ago.

I kept her in a little box till I wanted to use her for !!SCIENCE!!

Dear Goblins,

Your business is very important to us, and we thank you for your continued support to our economy. We apologize for the inconvenience but Gravesabres is closed for renovations.

Please find enclosed coupons for free magma baths.

Thank you and come again.
-The Overseer

P.S. If you would be so kind, please stop torturing that poor human trader that you found. The screams are very distracting.

The year is 260 and the Vampire Queen has been locked away in her quarters for further deliberation.
She's been around since year one for sure, as it says shes one of the first of her kind.

And man shes proving to be a massive pain in the beard.
Toy boats. Toy. Boats.
Friggin stupid nobles ><

Well it's obvious. Everybody that would disobey her would be found the next morning drained of all blood. And sucking blood doesn't train any skill :P
D'OH!
Of course xD

Alas, if only she was a warrior.

She has a list of relationships.... all dead (or at the least not at my fortress). So shes all on her own.

Hmmmm.... So its either make her the lord of all the world with the fortress bending to her will, sacrificing her to raise an army of vampires using her pure blood, or locking her away and throwing away the key.

Hahaha  might go with the first option.... That is, unless I figure out another unrelated experiment with her :D

what military skills does she have?
epic ones I'd hope

Sadly She seems to be only dabbling in wrestling, striker, kicker, dodger, and armor. And only great in a handful of conversational skills.
How the heck did she get the monarchy AND a Kill list a mile long?

This is no laughing matter.
First, cast her into a room.Make sure there are vents into it and floodgates that are lavaproof at the beginning of the channels that connect to the vents.
Vent lava into it.
Fill the whole room with lava.
Wall up the door.
Place one of every trap outside the door of the room, and then make the hallway leading to the room collapse.
Never dig it up again.
Last of all, just forget about her.
She's dead.

Arent I missing several hundred feet of lead and a constant patrol of adamantine-eqipped dwarves?

Being the queen she must be the source of vamparism in the dwarven holds.  Shove her down a well with spiked bottom and create an army of the night with her pure blood.

 :o

Who apparently has seen a few battles...

Oh bother...

Ive dealt with one vamp already... hes now in the catacombs pulling levers!

Now what to do with this genocidal queen?
A special !!Science!! experiment?

Dear Children of Gravesaber-

We understand you do not like to be naked.
We understand you do not like to be shoe-less.
We understand you sometimes you get angry and punch a certain Legendary Weaponsmith in the guts, making him stop working to vomit on his forge. Repeatedly.

This behavior will no longer be tolerated.
You are right next to the clothes pile- Put some damn clothes on or you will be relieved of duty.

Permanently.

We mean it,
-The Overseer

P.S. Yes. Go ahead and tantrum all you want. Our local axemen would love the practice.

A giant eagle just randomly assaulted one of my crafters, knocking him unconscious at my city gate and RIPPING OFF HIS NOSE!

My hammerdwarf was mere moments too late to save him.... and he bled out :<

So, I'm finally getting around to starting a new fort, now on 31.13! World genned, embark selected, carefully prepared, all right!
But there's a bunch of questions I can't go without asking about the current version...and some things I just plain forgot and can't seem to find out via wiki. So humour me!

Firstly, do Caravans still arrive without wagons? Do I need to make my entrance hallway three tiles wide, or is a narrow passage equally functional?

Secondly, are the Dungeon Masters finally back in, or shall I just have any exotic animals used for marksdwarf training on the spot?

Thirdly, speaking of marksdorfs; Is military equipment working a little better now than it was before?

And for the fourth, something version-independent: If I hollow out some tiles next to a murky pool, will the rainwater still accumulate in there and flow over into my reservoir, or will a floodgate-less approach merely lead to rapid evaporation?

And the fifth...ah, yes! All I can see in my [c]ivilisation screen is the Ant-Men. But pre-embark, the tab-window spoke to me of elves, goblins, dwarves and humans. Is the s[c]reen so empty purely because I have not yet received any visitors, or am I actually (almost) alone out here in the wild?

Gentledorfs, I salute you!

In attempt to answer some of these,

1) yup. no wagons. Theyll go up and down stairs just as easily as dorfs
2) As far as i can tell, DM is still bugged.... alot of the time ya dont get it.
3) I.... dont know... I havent managed to figure out the military stuff quite yet xD
4) It can, however if its too large then evaporation will occur quickly. a floodgate probably is your best option, if not just for the extra control

A thief just stole a legendary silk sock. I didn't know that could actually happen. What the heck is going on around here??

On a related note how do I stop thieves? Kobolds are immune to my dwarf-only trap corridors.
put a chained guard animal. dog, cow, cat, etc...
once discovered thy run off.... usually.

As to my fort....
A child got a fey mood, and immediately took over a craft workshop....
He made a Cat bone bed- "Princeyelled the Prestigious Butcher!"

Even though its completely worthless, it made me laugh

But then we can give those Dwarves their own "Reign of Fire"   :P

After a month of no computer, I finally return to DF, and my current project at "Squarelances".

Building a tower city 40+ z-levels high.... currently at level 10 or so, and on a whim i checked the stocks screen.
Apparently I have more than 11,000 green glass bricks and 2,000 obsidian bricks (all manufactured, as the map im using is pure sedimentary).
Easily the most ive ever had in one of my forts.

That, and I have tons of Clownite!

Currently on level 9 of my glass tower fortress, and a combo of FPS and general dwarf stupidity is slowing the glass block production to a crawl ><

Just as Im starting the jail/FB-storage and handling wing (complete with self-destruct/ jailbreak lever). Next on the list are the residential pillars.

More z-levels?
Like above ground?
Should be a bit for that in the worldgen file. a tag like [LEVEL ABOVE GROUND] or something. Its about 3/4 the way through the list of parameters.
