It's a very very good idea, especially for those players who haven't yet gotten around to playing fortress mode. Then they can reap the rewards that only fortresses can bring! Start a succession game and people will join.

missing and hitting something else is only with ranged attacks.

It looks like you've found another instance of the civil war bug! Revel in the wanton violence of the best dwarf fortress bug of all!

Isn't the current folder usually empty? I thought its main purpose was so game crashes wouldn't corrupt saves by being a temporary storage

Discussion and critique are different than complaints. The discussion on city layouts was very enlightening and thoughtful, and contained no hostility. The "complaints" are nowhere to be found.

Without critique, systems couldn't improve, and we all want the game to be awesome, totally and completely. That's why discussions about the mechanics happen, not to say the current system is bad, just that there is room for improvement.

Personally, I think Dwarf Fortress is as fitting of a title as any.

no, that's army arc stuff. Expect it in a year or so.

losing is still fun, except this time it's personal.

Check the controls with "?" and wander off to kill random animals until you get the hang of everything. It's more of a passive learning process than fortress mode, with less incredibly obscure mechanics.

With the re-addition of stable settlements and now larger economic centers with the city, I'm wondering when actual needs such as housing and medicine will be addressed. But that's one of those arbitrary release date prediction things so I'm going to ask something much more feasible to answer.

With settlements back into adventure mode, will we see thirst and hunger be added in during the next release or a subsequent caravan arc release?

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: A happy ending for a fort?

A dwarven happy ending is when you make the place self sufficient, wall it off from the world, and run it in the background for 100 in game years, checking up only to reassign children to jobs of the dwarves dying from old age.

But where's the fun in that?

It is normal. I believe if you are close enough to the bottom, the menu is displayed at the top and vice versa.

it's the 5th release in the caravan arc devlog I think.

The release that goes, "Make worldgen activities happen in regular play" is the release that will move all worldgen activities into normal time. So rulers will die and be replaced while you run your fort etc.

It's also the release that I am the most excited for, and it's just in the devlog.

Wait a second, on the wiki there's pictures of talking to people. How do you do that?

Ooh, just replayed it and I've got to say that it's pretty fun. A way to check spell properties would be nice. Also, after eating an enemy's body part, I've noticed that my health went to 11/10. Dunno if that's a bug or not so I thought I would mention it.

The money being needed to camp part is interesting as well. As is the having a number to display how many bonuses an item gives you. There's some good stuff here.

Are spell damage values static or do they progress in any way as the player levels up?

The latter. Money is only good in the civilization it was minted in. You could keep the coins and look at the cool engravings though. Coin engravings are awesome. Then throw the coins at people.

I thought it was pretty cool except I died very quickly, but that just means I suck. The engine is very solid.
