Lolololol imagine using an action to create villains by a different name. Fantastic idea too, ignoring everything that was laid out by the team up until now. Literally everything has been about sneakin around and staying out of the public eye. What a waste of an action. We already have a recruitment method to work on (MURDER), and it’s firmly rooted in shit we’ve already done as opposed to being based on throwing money, an actual resource that already has enough uses, at people. I cannot stress how much of a wasted action this is.

Hell, the way Feng and, ugh, CALM, was played up until now was as that neighborhood charitable business with a hidden dark side. We’ve been building up to pull off a heckin heist for the whole game, some tools for that would have been nice. Shame I thought this game was dead or I’d have argued against literally the entire last phase.

Stromata suffered from the occasional asteroid or meteor streaking through it's atmospheres, but nothing had ever caused as dramatic an event as the "Noosphere Breach". Deep within the Inner Planet a massive Ionic storm unlike any other was building, expanding, and obliterating anything nearby. The energy whipping around the eye of this storm managed to breach the fabric of reality itself, tearing a scar into this material plane and connecting it briefly with the realm of Dreams. In this scar formed a massive scab-like crystalline object, as if the realm of Dreams sought to seal the breach itself. Once this crystalline object fully sealed the spatial tear, the energy-infused crystal exploded with devastating force. Large chunks up to a kilometer wide were sent through the Water Membrane and shotgunned in many much smaller pieces into the Outer Planet. These small pieces could float in the various layers of the Outer Planet until they stuck into another material, embed into other floating materials, or fall back down to "float" on the surface of the Water Membrane. Smaller pieces formed in the initial explosion were overall much more substantial than the large chunks, and found themselves trapped in the Inner Planet. These smaller pieces became much more densely charged with their unique energy, as the foreign matter absorbed the power from Ionic Storms and did not shatter from them.

----

While a massive and unique event on it's own, this "Noosphere Breach" was not unique in the sense of cataclysmic events. The most extreme things become more common on a long enough timeline, after all. Create a second major event to shape the environment of your planet. As with before, it is probably acceptable so long as it is not a system altering event. This is the last turn before abiogenesis, so keep that in mind when crafting your proposals. The planet and it's surroundings may be altered in later prompts, but this is the last guaranteed opportunity to do so.

Nautica Fria had experienced it's fair share of asteroid and meteor impacts during it's early millennia, but nothing that the planet experienced would quite measure up to the "Annual" Tripolar Transplanal Fissure.

At some point in it's existence, the planet managed to align it's orbital path with a "Transplanar Fissure". This undetectable fissure fell into an orbit opposite of Nautica Fria's, resulting in them crossing paths twice a year, on the apex of the Light seasons for the positive and negative magnetic poles. As the fissure and planet pass through one another they trade a significant amount of energy. The energy pouring out of the fissure during the brief moments of contact is tripolar, and as it cannot physically exist in this universe, rapidly and devastatingly breaks down at the particle level. Three points on the planet simultaneously experience the results of the interaction - the pole experiencing the Light Season, and two other locations in 120 degree opposition of the pole.

The particular breakdown creates extremely explosive reactions of subatomic energy until the foreign material rips itself apart until it "makes sense" in this reality. These reactions occur just a few hundred meters above the water's surface, and the disturbances in the sky and sea cause massive storms once the explosions subside. The two regions that experience the fissure opposite the pole can be anywhere along the "line of opposition" for the pole, and in opposition of one another, but their locations are completely randomized for every event.

The constant interdimensional energy bombardment increased the temperature of Nautica Fria, melting the polar caps somewhat and causing the sea level to rise significantly. Devastating storms are extremely common in the regions around the lines of opposition. Ripping currents formed along the lines of opposition and effectively divided the polar and equatorial regions.

When you see them walk out with open arms and say "Greetings, my child. It is I, your lord and savior Stirk. I have come to shine a light for you in your darkest hour."

First updates have been posted in the team threads, but we're still in need of some players. There's no close or deadline for joining a team, so don't be shy. Or else.

Nautica Fria started off as a large rock orbiting a bright yellow star, the second of six planets and the middle of the three terrestrial planets. Conditions at the creation of the system left Nautica Fria as a large rocky ball with a dense atmosphere made up of a cocktail of elements. As time went on, the elements began to condense and rain from the skies, ultimately covering the cooling planet in a cloak of liquid water. The planet's ocean is generally a kilometer or six deep, although there are some locations where the planet's rocky crust is but centimeters beneath the surface.

The rotational axis of Nautica Fria is nearly aligned with it's orbital plane with a bit of a wobble, and results in four 100-day seasons with three distinct effects: The Light and Dark seasons occur when the part of the planet you are on is pointed toward the system's star or away from it, respectively. The Light Season has long days, with a 30 day stretch of endless 25-hour day sunlight, while the Dark Season sees the opposite occur, with a 30 day stretch of endless night. The Transitional Seasons separate the Light and Dark seasons as day and night reach near-equilibrium for a total of (wait for it...) 30 days.

The low overall temperature of the planet and the extended periods of darkness have led to extensive ice cap coverage, leaving 20% of the planet covered in massive ice sheets kilometers thick. Some melting occurs during the Light Seasons, but not enough to significantly damage the polar caps. The crust of the planet is made up of a wide variety of elements and is somewhat porous thanks to a high level of submarine volcanic activity leaving old magma vents behind. The core is made up of metals, and rests 7000 kilometers beneath the surface of the planet's ocean.

Rain, snow, and high winds are common weather on the planet, broken up by the occasional clear streak.

Nautica Fria was able to exist in a state of undisturbed peace for an extended period, quietly orbiting it's star, until one day...

Your planet is about to undergo a dramatic event that will forever leave it's mark. What event occurs? It can be something celestial in origin or result, such as our own moon theory of the asteroid collision, or something terrestrial, like a cataclysmic eruption. If an idea is, ah, too creative, I will let you all know.

Glass is a planet that formed during the early days of the system's life. It rests in a stable orbit around a yellow star as the fifth of six planets, the middle of the three gas giants, and the largest planet in the system. A dense metal core is surrounded by 50000 kilometers of various gaseous elements it's captured over the ages. The elements are, somehow, sorted into very clear strata based on their density. Hydrogen and Helium largely make up the thin upper atmosphere, followed by an Oxygen-majority layer, then the Methane layer. These layers form the "Outer Planet", and are full of materials captured by Glass' gravity well and settled there. Over time these materials smashed together to form single "continents" for each layer. While the majority of solid materials are light enough to drift along their plane, there are small numbers of heavier elements sprinkled throughout them. The Outer Planet experiences 25-hour days and 600-day years, and thanks to it's tilted axis, experiences a variety of relatively temperate seasons.

Beneath the Outer Planet is the Water Membrane. A dense layer of steam acts as a barrier that denser elements smash into, usually to no avail. This results in "floating" deposits of denser and rarer materials along this membrane layer. The Water Membrane divides the Outer Planet from the "Inner Planet".

The Inner Planet is full of denser gases, with the larger notable layers being the Chlorine and Neon layers, and beneath them are the heavier metal-based gas layers that surround the solid core. While a number of objects have pierced the Water Membrane over the ages (though none are undamaged), they are unable to form larger continents as seen in the Outer Planet thanks to incredibly savage ionic storms that devastate the Inner Planet. These intense plasma storms are a frequent if not everpresent occurrence in the Inner Planet, leaving the largest solid chunks of floating matter with a couple kilometers of area at most.

On the unusual occasion where an object penetrates the Water Membrane, a violent reaction between the Inner and Outer layers occurs, often with explosive force, and creating a massive disturbance in the atmosphere. Ionic storms can "leak out" of the ruptured membrane before the breach is collapsed, and while devastating, are short-lived after being cut off from the Inner Planet. The turbulence and storms can wildly alter the Outer Planet's floating geography during these small windows of instability. The Inner Planet experiences one season, and one time of day, at all times: ionic storms.

Glass was able to exist in a state of undisturbed peace for an extended period, quietly orbiting it's star, until one day...

It seems you are one among The Enlighteners.

You've been around since the dawn of time watching and waiting. Worlds form and crumble often without ever doing anything of note. Not this time, not under your eye. A star system in a tucked-away corner of some galaxy has a planet that has drawn your eye, one that holds the capabilities to create and sustain life. As long as you're there to offer a guiding hand. But what is it about this planet that has attracted you?

Describe your planet in it's earlier stages. Include information like it's makeup - is it a rocky planet? A gas giant? Is it made of sapphire? Is it actually a moon? How far is it from the system's star? Is there an atmosphere other than what we'd expect here on Earth? What is it's size relative to Earth? This will largely define all the species you burn through create going forward and is probably the most important decision to work together on to figure out. Don't worry about specific environments, just provide a general description of your home planet, specifics will come in following turns.

Enlightener's Thread
Uplifter's Thread

The universe is a vast place, one full of infinite dangers and opportunities. One of these dangerous opportunities comes in the form of life, and one solar system happens to have two planets showing signs of it. But this life is as of yet undefined - same with the planets! It will be up to you to guide one of these two planets from formation to abiogenesis, through evolution, and onward! After you choose your team - either The Uplifters or The Enlighteners - you and your fellow guardians will be faced with a series of prompts covering hurdles or advancements that will define a period of time for your planet and the species upon it.

Players can propose solutions to prompts in their team's threads and can attempt to tackle them in any way they see fit. Military, scientific, cultural, and diplomatic solutions are all viable, and will shape the planet and it's inhabitants accordingly. Each team will be responsible for voting on one proposal to choose as their advancement using a votebox similar to the one below:
Quote from: Votebox
Ideas:
Good: (4) Bill, Ted, Grilled, Cheese
Bad: (2) Jesse, James
Ugly: (2) Your, Name

As this is a game, I will act as the Will of the Universe and will be rolling 2d6 in order to determine just how effective and beneficial the changes the proposal end up. The result for the proposal is better as the roll gets higher, with the most dramatic results at the extreme ends of the dice pool. While rolling from a 3 to an 11 will usually provide a small evolutionary, technological, or magical advancement, rolling a 12 is how your planet's life advances to it's next stage. That advancement becomes a massively defining characteristic in the ascension of the species as they leap forward. However in order to balance that, a team stuck in earlier stages of development will get progressively higher chances to advance as well. (This is why, in order to preserve secrecy between sides as much as possible, the rolls themselves will be kept behind the scenes.)

At the other end of the spectrum, rolling a 2 on the 2d6 results in a Mass Extinction Event. Every prompt that immediately follows a Mass Extinction will allow you to decide if and how your primary species survives, or what it gets replaced by as the clock gets set back a good bit regardless.

The end goal of the game is to have the two different teams come into contact in some way, shape, or form. Once that occurs, their timelines get sync'd up and we enter the Endgame. The Endgame will be defined by the interactions of your two planet's species in whatever form they're in at that time as they attempt to outlast one another against themselves, and perhaps some other threats.

While the Endgame may end up dramatically one-sided, we can't know for sure what awaits us until we start looking. And who knows, there's always a risk of a Mass Extinction Event...

Please state in this thread which team you are joining, then head over to that thread (linked above), join the Discord server (if you want, also linked above), and get started! Your first prompt is waiting for you! And remember to resist the temptation to look into the other team's thread!

I’d recommend not being overly sensitive to something people will call literally everyone all the time, especially if there’s no way for said people to know your particular triggers or whatever then, because if you knew me you’d know I call everyone my dude.

Let’s not ban words that aren’t actually offensive please.
