Boo ties.

Let’s also keep this in mind: he’s been in the woods for x amount of time and not only does his phone has a signal but his service hasn’t been cut due to not paying a bill. This means he’s either just lost in the woods and all he has to do is leave them to find civilization, or he is a magical being

665
I feel like people are outright ignoring the fact that he wants/needs to have electricity very soon (within a week or two as previously stated) or else the phone dies and he dies. Taking steps through the ages is fine if you’re playing Civilization or Spore, but not when we’re on a very short very strict timeline

Magic is the best bet we have. Tear out your rib with your bear hands while chanting kalima, cover it in mud and breathe on it to create a woman.

Of course the Merethian prefers bears.

Considering the GM, the GM preference for bears is something I kind of want to avoid, seeing how much he kind of joined teams as a player himself to get players to do things he wanted to see the way he wanted to see it in his last game. Less temptation if it’s something he’s ok with and not something that’ll test his self control.

My biggest concern with the bears boils down to I didn’t make them how they’re going to handle the typical evolution of warfare in the early 1900s. Aircraft are going to be much more difficult on account of mass I imagine, and they’ll be excellent targets for small arms. Each bear could wind up as a tank unto itself, which would definitely be cool, but I think at this point in history the fighting is going to wind up being a numbers game, and bears seem intrinsically more expensive.

What is like to see from raccoons that I don’t see often in arms races *is* the night fighting that I myself haven’t really seen much of, especially in a near-ww1 setting. Trench raids and all that good stuff.

That said, I can’t really say for sure if I prefer one over the other, I could see myself having fun with both

WorldOfHurt better vote soon to tie it back up.

If his nails are that nasty then he deserves death.

669
But doing it to himself won’t hurt if he fails either. Like, I dunno why you think he’d punch his fingertips through his skin if this is as realistic as it’s been played up to now

670
I think you’re all not realizing something important.

The guy we’re helping that’s lost in the woods very well could be the deity here, and I think he should pray to himself, and thank himself when things happen, and say me damn it when things go wrong

671
The problem is people spoke out in opposition of my proposal, so my proposal wasn’t done. I literally can’t do it my way if the only time things go to a vote is when I try my way? I’m being forced to convince people to try something different, and that’s what I’m trying to do.

This isn’t a “oh nobody is doing what I want so I’m gonna bitch about it”, it’s “the rules seemed to change for me so I need to adjust how I go about what I’m doing accordingly”.

Don’t try to reduce what I’m saying to something it isn’t

672
That's probably due to the suggestions not based in extremely gritty reality being shot down, which doesn't really give Stirk much to play with either. Sure, he could go "oh man this mushroom grew me big and this flower lets me throw fireballs", but another key part of the title is "With the Help of a Forum", which tells me this could very well boil down to the game being a series of us giving Stirk prompts to fuck around with. If that's the case, then it'll stay grounded and realistic until we decide to change that, and progress will continue at a snail's pace. I mean damn, how much advice has been focused just on eating berries and playing with clay already? At the very least trying something unrealistic

Something like chanting kalima while tearing out your own rib and making a human woman out of it

is a solid test on whether or not this is firmly grounded in reality or if it isn't. Hell, it's pretty clear to me that even the PC is a little unsure about how real everything is. Shit, we might even be dealing with something akin to CHIM in the Elder Scrolls, which to put extremely simply and probably wrongly is an understanding that your reality is not real, and therefore you become less tethered by the rules of your reality.

673
Yes let’s do all of that too, cover our bases.

Edit: I feel like people are misreading the title as Realistic Survival Simulator 9000. If the premise is actually restarting civilization then uh the way we’re going it’s gonna take us real time decades to do that

674
Oh no the whole three seconds it would take aw jeeze

675
You should probably do that rib removal and woman creation ritual. Seriously people, why are we voting against this? If we’re following real world logic then he will do literally nothing and we can go about our days. If however he manages to succeed at any single level in the task of ripping out ones own rib and making a woman with it then we know we can fuck around with even more.
