I will get to work tomorrow, unless someone comes up with a good idea. Also, I would need some help with graphics (I'm no good at artist stuff), anyone who helps with that gets a thank-you and a spot in the credits. I have a general idea of what I'm going for, but if anyone has a suggestion, i would be sure to consider it.

I did not make the map, but so is Greenland. (Or is it Iceland?)

It has been decided upon as a Colonization of the Americas Mod! Kudos to Jake for the idea.

It will be for 31.12, I will eventually update it to 31.13, and future versions. (As soon as Dwarf Therapist is updated for it)

I searched the forums and did not find a mod like that (there were people asking about one, but it was not done) , so I may do that. I will think about it.

While you can make it however difficult on yourself you want with point limits, they are still useful to keep you aware of how much you are taking, and whether you are getting ridiculous or not. So, maybe just a counter that tells you how many points you have spent, but does not actually stop you from bringing more.

Go back to 31.12. It is the light. It would please Armok.
The light of 31.12 is dim, that of 40d shines the brightest.

All of 40d's light is from its military, 31.12 has light in all aspects but military.

I think it will cause players to simply kill off dwarfs who are allergic to the forts base food. Or players applying survival of the fittest.

They already do for similar things.

I'm a perpetual newbie, so I don't think I'm ready to take up a name challenge (...though my current fort, if .13 bugs don't delay it until .14, is named after a challenge I'm making for myself: Sandcage: A giant hourglass megastructure), but I think I read enough to make some suggestions.

Grizzlyoiled: Rendered bear fat seems about as good a suggestion as any. Another idea that comes to mind: Make some kind of bear-killing machine/trap that is "oiled" by the blood of the bears.

Windlens: Giant round glass floor(s) suspended high above ground with some (technically decorative) windmills to power some kind of focusing mechanisms.

The idea is to randomly generate a name and do something with that, not come up with one yourself.

Efficiency is boring.  :(

The most efficient fortress is made entirely out of up/down stairs, with the occasional flat spot for workshops or furniture. But this fortress design is extremely boring to play.

WRONG!

A spiral staircase of ramps is significantly more efficient. On FPS, at any rate, and that's what matters.
Also wrong. Tests have shown no actual benefit one way or another.

So, the idea of all up-down stairs isn't FPS suicide? I always wanted to make a fort like that but didn't for fear of FPS! I must make a new fort right now.
