DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / stuck with a mayor
« on: March 23, 2021, 10:51:16 am »
I have 170 dwarfs or so and still stuck with a mayor i am in a metropolis and have over 1 million in wealth

is there a way i can get a king or queen?
I do notice when i got more migrants that it said it was dangerous to come to my fort might that be a issue.
only 180 or so dwarfs died since i started playing this fort.

so winter came when i thought i was safe behind my walls..

Life Advice / Were too start, programing

Hi i am starting to  get very interested in programing and would like to  make a nice game  one day..

i have a book C++ for dummies from 2000.. and i was wondering if this book is out of date
the software on the CD is for sure out of date

anyway i have no idea were to start, what languages i should use to program in
what compiler i need to use
so i was wondering if any of you could guide me in the right direction
where to start, some basic documentation about programing in general

i am really new at this, i know HTML/css  but well  that is nothing like  C++/python

i followed a tutorial roguebasin.roguelikedevelopment.org/index.php/Complete_Roguelike_Tutorial,_using_python%2Blibtcod,_part_1
and i can  type over the code, and understand a bit what is what, but in general i really don't have a clue how it works
and where to place code and all that

why is on the main DF page the 01/18/2012  post empty :)

Good question! Presumably we'll get a devlog once Toady realizes his mistake :P

maybe DF is joining Wikipedia in  the blackout

aaahh... so i have a bigger chance to win the lotto then this would  ever work..
or it should be implemented in DF, and probably  i will still win the lotto quicker then
cause they have better stuff to add to the game

so that we could see what they are up to
i asked around (seen link ) and well stonesense  is the closes  thing that come to it

i got the green light today to plunder an abandoned house  here from the owner, and found some nice  stuff in the house
an old watch (rocket) from the USSR, two 60 year old closets,  some nice wood crafted frames, few old coins from 60's and 70's i think on is silver(could be other metal)
and a "old" stove, and lots of crappy IKEA closets  and wooden planks  to make something from, and a pile of old metal/aluminum

i got stuck a few times with the car in the snow and needed to dig it out, also always lots of fun :)

i like it in this way that we live in a trow away socialite (or wel its slowly coming here)

it makes me sad that people give money to the poor all over the world and super markets trow away 1000s of tons of food every day..
if we only would share our food with the rest there would all most be no world hunger

and the GMO people would not say that they can help world hunger with GMO, to find suport for GMO..
(GMO=genetically modified food)

I'm helping organize trying to turn an old industrial warehouse into a homeless shelter. The city is being a massive pain, but thankfully I've managed to work out the tax deduction for a contractor so that it ends up saving them some money if they donate their time! :D Though, again, the city is a major pain, getting the building's many code violations fixed is a major step in the right direction.

I'm a step closer to actually doing it.

i hope it works out !
what i found out about city counsel and other idiots, is that if they don't like it they will try any stupid law in there book to bugger you out  of it...

i have seen people getting kicked out of there house cause they did not have water and that would be a risk to fire safety
but the city disconnected it.. so they kicked out the people, the people went too court to fight it, they won.
but the city already  leveled the house ...

i have seen many more of this crap with Art places, Youth centers, free shops...
just because its not how they want the city to look
