set on fire by a dragon, jumped into a lake to put myself out, encased in ice as night fell
According to the wikia, if your body or clothing is on fire jumping into water won't put it out. Apparently, Toady hasn't implemented much of an "extinguish" function.
This is making me feel better about how much I suck! I drank too much blood/Ichor and was too full to eat actual food...
Warned ya.
(And it turns out i'm better at killing things than I thought. That is, if fighting everything whilst lying down changes much. Except now i'm looking for something more dangerous to run from - will any map have enemies like that? I mean, i've seen cave crocodiles and troglodites, but only with their names as "---- has been caught in a spider web.)
There are some advantages to lying down, namely some attacks can't hit you (I'm not sure which, but I think that includes projectiles), but you're also really slow.
If you wants some real dangerous shit, check the map for caves. Just in the vicinity of the entrance you'll find more interesting stuff than the standard horses and buzzards, like elk birds. Go a couple floors in and you might find a troll or two, but careful because you might also run into a giant cave spider in an enclosed area. Stealth is you friend.
As for the spider web thing,
that's just a bug. Pops up when I'm adventuring all the time.
EDIT 3:
Sorry to keep posting, but the only thing I could find to attack was an Elephant...
It broke my arms and legs, but I severed an artery. It ran, but not I can only move 3 steps without passing out from the pain.
I'm having Elephant stew if it's the last thing I do!
EDIT 2: I started on a previous version it's... more 'Fun'. I wrestled a bear to death, but he broke my feet and one of my hands. My pancreas was damaged too. I tried to run, but a Cougar ambushed me, and I died. YAY!
EDIT: Ok, ok, i'm stupid. I fixed that problem.
Yeah, going with an older version (.31.12 was the last one with shops) was a smart move. Right now Toady is leading up to a major overhaul for Adventure Mode, but currently it's in a transitional phase where there's room and ground work for the new stuff, but it's not here yet.
It's like when a new house doesn't have any furniture in it.
