I went ahead and occupied Crete quite effortlessly. Budget is under control I think, research on railroads has begun.

P.S. I can lower national stockpile since i have no factories right?

A series of sea battles of which I won until they built 4 frigates and invaded Athens. I beat the armies and have 3% warscore in my favor (2% required to take Crete) but they are still unwilling to accept...  >:(

Apparently 90% of my upperhouse is liberal, so i enact healthcare reforms.

It's too late to research nothing but we can start saving RP after the first tech is done.  Is experimental railroad not available?

It is, I just wasn't sure. I haven't unpaused the game from like may 1836 :D (I was busy for the past 2 hours or so), so any progress on research is rather minimal anyway.

Are you sure we can get Crete from egypt pretty much unscathed, cause our budget is fubar and I don't know what a war would do to it.

A quick recon with our fleet (2 frigates and a transport) shows that the egyptians have 1 measly transport. Commencing the invasion of Crete. I get what you're saying about the romanticism thing, research has been switched to mechanized mining. Changed capitalists (we have 11 in the capital now) to clergy.

If you can enact health care reforms without driving yourself into irreparable debt, do it. Health care seriously ups your population growth, which means more manpower on every front, including soldiers.

At present we can only enact political reforms in the vote franchise (only landed), press rights, trade unions, and political parties. Our support for social reform is 40%, but we have a reactionary gov't which won't be pleased with reform for very long, so the chance for reform is now I think.

^ Yeah I guess that makes sense come to think of it. Should I accept the alliance with Sicily? and also what to do about reform. Otherwise I'll sit tight for a few years maybe, unless something happens.

Ok, I waited a month without touching anything (in which we accrued ~800 debt  :-\, although we can pay that off easily I believe). Set our research to Romanticism (should be finished in 1839) and then used our single NF to promote capitalists in our Capital province. I then switched our government to the Reactionary Russian faction. We are an absolute monarchy, but we can reform if we want:

The Two Sicilies sent us an alliance request, which I am inclined to accept:

Also, is it a bad thing that we have 0 aristocrats in the entire country and 85% farmers?
I guess the immediate problem is whether to hold off on reform or not? When should I begin building factories (I usually just let the capitalists build them themselves and then subsidize and upgrade them)?

Pop screen (I can't believe how in favor of Jingoism they are :o):

I'm actually pretty excited about this, there's something about religious warfare that tickles my fancy. Fascinating stuff.

Greece, the birthplace of western civilization, now a decadent backwater. Ottomans to the north are slowly islamifying and assimilating our Greek brethren while Egyptian rats are ransacking our island of Crete. What will we do?

The situation:

If anyone wants to see any images of whatever like treasury or something, give me a heads up. I'll take any general suggestions from where to start (since I'm pretty worried I'll fuck up  ;D)

I can't pray for you, but I can wish you good luck. Try to make sure your son spends time with both you and the mother, I'm not sure how that's really possible from halfway across the country though. My parents got divorced in my late teens so I can't imagine how tough it would be to grow up rarely seeing your own parents.

OK. I'm home. The poll will officially close in a half hour (cause i gotta do something), but it looks like we will be driving the Greek people towards their annihilation and enslavement at the hands of the ottomans reforming the Byzantine empire!

With Victoria 2, you have to be like, the U.K., and even then it's a hard deal and a big deal when someone says they've done it.

Welcome, Descan, did you sign up so you could post in my thread?  8)

But anyway, I think world domination may be a little bit out of my reach. Not that we can't try  ;D

Alright, well I was ready and raring to go, but I'll make my decision tomorrow regardless of the amount of votes and hopefully we can begin.
