General Discussion / Re: Atheists

I am an Agnostic, I don't know either way. There could be a god or gods, there might not be. In my opinion I have not seen any proof of a god existing, but on the other hand I have seen no proof one doesn't exist either, so I say...maybe. If a god or gods exist I would love to meet them and ask questions about how the universe works and why certain things happens,  but I'm also ready for the fact there might not be one and once I die I will cease to exist. I don't see much point in argueing about weither a god or gods exist or not, let people beleive what they beleive becouse there isn't any proof either way.

Simple topic, the bay 12 game LCS. Who plays it? Who likes it? Who hates it? What is your favorate way to play? I personily just get some high powered sleepeers, judges mostly, make some bunker gear, get some hippies to make money for me, buy a weapon, and go nuts. I tend to make sure I get tons of safe houses, all with atleast a bussiness front and a flag, one with a printing press, and then I move my CEO throughout the safe houses whenever heat gets too high, he only doesn't go to the printing press one so a writer can stay there safe and sound. I tend to get someone with high INT to be a computer geek and hacker for special stories every month in game.

Name:Kezzar Maerdyn
Gender:Male
Race:Drow
Class:Warlock
Alignment:Lawful Evil
God: lloth
Concept:Kezzar is a devout worshiper of the spider goddess and follows the will of the Matriach of House Maerdyn to the letter. He is self serveing and greedy at times but will willingly pass up any reward for himself if it helps either of his mistress' plans. He was sent to the surface to explore and find ways to increase the political power of the drow as well as find possible worshipers for lloth. He enjoys communicateing with devils and loaths most demons, mostly becouse his mind works similer to theirs. It is through these communications with devils he gained his power as a warlock, and he intends to keep his dark powers pure(all warlock for levels). He doesn't much care either way about his fellow party members, though he dislikes takeing orders from the leader he is willing to do so aslong as it helps him fullfill his goals on the surface.
Role/s:Blaster
Sorry if you where hopeing for one of those sissy "chaotic good to fight against my evil race" drow, I play a proper drow, evil, from underdark, worships lloth, listens to his matriach, and generally thinks women are above men in society, as that's how the drow are.
Edit:Oh! fun fact, I used an english to drow translator for my charactor's first name, it means Ambition in drow.

I tend to turn an entire 'floor', Z-area, into an apartment complex for the worker bees, with another floor reserved for nobles(and a noble death trap or two). Everyone gets a 3x3 room with a bed, a chest, and a cabinet. Every room is connected to another one, with a door tile wide hallway infront of the doors, and two long two or three tile hallway leading north to south to connect to the east to west hallways

Unforchunately I have only been able to play a demo of Exile 3 so I can't give my opinion on that, though what little I got to see was very fun.

Ah sorry.http://www.spidweb.com/geneforge/index.html That is the site of the company that makes the games. The gameplay itself is simple but fun, you click where you want to move, take turns in combat(with Action points for movement in combat and actions). Just clicking on the enemy uses your weapon, swords, maces, wands, batons(kinda like liveing plant guns that shoot thorns not bullets), etc. Or you can use a decent number of spells from 4 main catagories, Damage based ones, Mind ones which mainly revolve around debuffs or even temporarily bringing an enemy to your side, healing, and buffs. The stats cover a long list of things, with four basic attributes, Str Int Con and Cha(not 100% on this one, been to obcessed with DF to play recently). with tons of skills. There are your basic weapon specialisation skills, combat skills, etc. Skills for which magic you specialize in. Skills for which types of Shapeing you do best, Battle for tanks, Magic for glass canons, Fire for a mix(over simplifying but it works.). And then you have the two non-combat skills, Mechanics is almost a necessity in each game just to get through traps, it can also be used to break into tons of houses, chests, etc. and Leadership, which opens up new dialouge, being the story buff I am personalily I usually get tons of this as it opens up alot.   Out of combat you basicly walk around and talk to people, travel, sneak for stuff. Take missions from the different factions in the games, most of which eventuilly lead to directly harming another faction.  Puzzles aren't too common though, and the later games introduce an ok Crafting system, which I personally couldn't break through at first, which can make the best items in the game as well as many lesser items and potions. You get a max of 7 creations at one time, and they are invaluable for the game, weither you just have a few strong ones or more weaker ones, they will always be of use. The stories are fantastic, in my opinion, and very openended with atleast 15 endings per game if not more. And to stop the whole canon 'thats not how I wanted my game to end' thing the develoupers change canon just enough each game so none of the endings in the last one where canon.

I hope I'm not the onyl person on these forums to absolutely adore the Geneforge games. For the uninitiated the Geneforge series have a basic idea and branch off into something epic and fun. The idea at it's most basic is, a group of mages found a way to make life itself useing magic, calling this art Shapeing and themselves Shapers, they proceeded to use this to take over a decent portion of the world as well as limit how much magic 'outsiders' learn. They experiment with their magic, akin to the scientific method in many ways, to improve it's use in many areas, and with one invention, the Canisters, everything eventuilly goes to hell.

.....Oh....wow, I'm not sure if this is becouse I'm an idiot or this is incredibly complex, or both, but I can not make heads or tails of this. I mean I understand, somewhat, what I'm reading on these Token pages, but I have NO idea how to use them. I guess part of it is becouse I've never even added a mod to a game before, much less 'made' one.   Sorry if this is aggrivateing or I seem like a moron, I'm just not used to modding and I really want to try and make a werewolf race in this.

Would I need to remove Werewolves from their normal animal place to mod this in? And thank you for the help thus far. Also would modifying, if I don't get rid of it, the Werewolf RAW in creature_standard effect anything?

Can someone help me, or atleast explain, how I mod Werewolves, or something similer, to be a civ-playable race? Maybe even an adventurer race. I would greatly enjoy playing as them, maybe even a way to get rid of the necessity for alchohal and make them purely carnivores, for more 'authenticity'......and on a completely unrelated note, how can I mod Elephants to be purchaseible from the start? Growing faster and breeding faster would be nice as well, but haveing them from the beginning alone would be invaluable.

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: What got you into Dwarf Fortress?
« on: September 17, 2010, 08:12:45 pm »
I had heard about it a bit, not much but a bit, and was a little interested but 1)I didn't know where to find it, 2)too lazy to look for it, and 3)It didn't seem REALLY interesting. Then one of my regular webcomics, Nerfnow, decided to go a very very small arc on it, with a link, I giggled, said what the hell and jumpped in. I am extremely happy with it :P

Thank you for the training tips, I think I'll be useing the trap one since my map has alot of wood and I have tons of it to spare at the moment. Though I could still use help on how to make the elves annoyed enough to bring me my Elephants, for food and war, but not angry enough to seige.

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / A little help?
« on: September 13, 2010, 03:13:00 am »
Yeah I just started and I already love the game, lost a fortress to not enough food or booze and could't make a well already. But there are two questions I have that would really help me. The first is how do I make sure my soldiers gain skills when they train? I've seen them train for awhile but never get any better at anything. And how do I annoy the Elves enough that they will bring me animals, Elephants in particular, but not so much they want to wipe me out?
